HARI TRI FIN

UKI

The smallest fishs d’Ellis Ericson in Single but also twin shape with a semi-parallel and winger swallow tail. The bottom shape is a single concave to vee or light vee hull according to the desired style of surfing. With its large tail, this fish is perfect for the waves of the French coast to a small soft comfortable shoulder height tubular. Available also without winger. Uki twin ideal dimensions Length : 5’7’’ to 5’11’’ Width : 19’’ to 20,75’’ Thickness : 2.5’’ to 3’’

This board manifested as a result of my interest in 80’s Surfing I was always drawn to the Volumes, outlines and graphics of that era. I spent time tweaking a lot of my favourite Matahari templates, cleaning up wings and stings from previous outlines but subtly keeping pivotal straight curves that had grown on me. I was on the search for an everyday, onshore beach break beater and I stumbled across a super versatile tri fin short board. Traditional 80’s volume and beak nose are kept, slightly rounded down rail and the addition of a very subtly concave through the shape make this board continue on traditional lines of the 80’s but offer up options for pop and release. Deck - Flat, slightly rolled towards nose. Rails - (from nose) slight roll up in the nose. 60/40 down rail, tucked edge untill hard bottom edge Bottom - Subtle entry concave throughout entire board into flatter tail section. Tail - round square, swallow or round tail Fin - 80’s configuration, bigger leading front fins, slightly smaller centre fin Conditions - Sandbars 1 - 4 feet, point breaks at 3 - 6 feet, Reef 4 - 6 feet. Sizes - 5’5 - 6’2 widths 18 1/2 – 21

ELLIS ERICSON

Ellis Ericson is always on some kind of mission to find epic waves. He’s originally from Byron Australia, but lives now in Bali. Ellis picked up his shaping skills and talent from his father Bruce Ericson, a renown shaper from the 70’s. “I’d always been around shaping surfboards as my father Bruce has always been a shaper. He made my boards and would drill me to fix my own dings, wet sand my board. But the first board I shaped by myself unassisted was around February 2009.” Ever since Ellis has been working hard to master the traditional art of hand shaping under his own label Sunflower Surfboards, melting modern and classic influences with his shapes and his surfing. ”The history of shaping and designs past gets me going. Inspirations come from everywhere and happen nearly everyday. I’m always seeing something, looking at older boards such as a few of my dad’s or MP’s (Michael Peterson) for his volume distribution, fin placements and templates. But also from some new boards, subtle little things like a nice tail or fin set-up that looks inviting. I’m most grateful to have a surfing ability that allows me to test my boards to their potential, and that I have been passed the knowledge to create a good surfboard with my own hands.”

WAYLING STING

MATAHARI STING

MATAHARI

Matahari Ellis Ericson single below 7’. Those shapes are inspired by 70’s suitable for all conditions.Single fin pintail Shape drop in water with or without winger, 70’s-inspired shapes for surfing on the front. They work perfectly on a beach break or long powerful pointbreak. Matahari SF ideal dimensions Length : 5’8 to 7’0 Width : 20’’ to 22’’ Thickness : 2.5’’ to 3’’

An evolutionary continuation of my previous model the Matahari Twin. This new board features an additional break in the outline (sting) just behind centre of the board. The bottom hard edge created by this break gives more initial speed and a longer edge produces great drive and squirt throughout turns. The 2nd Sting also provides a break in the outline that is situated between your feet when surfing - Ive found this gives a nice pivot point for more vertical mid face surfing on a twin fin. Deck : Slightly rolled, flat towards a beaked nose. Rails (from nose) : Slight tucked edge up in the nose - into 70/30 down rail - Into sudden hard bottom edge sting break continues to have 30% deck rail roll through to tail. Bottom : Flat entry to double concave into slight vee throughout tail. Tail : pin tail or swallow. Fin : New Matahari sting template Ideal Conditions : Sandbars 1 - 4 feet, point breaks at 3 - 6 feet, Reef 4 - 6 feet. Sizes : 5’6 - 6’4 variations of widths between 19 – 22

TRACKER

The Tracker is a Vee Bottom in pure Australian tradition of the late 60’s. The Tracker is perfect for surfing beach breaks and hollow or long powerful reefs. They were born in the late 60’s when surfers began to want to turn more and especially traveling.Their shape is ideal for travel as they can also surf well in the small surf in the mighty and big surf.Tracker Ellis Ericsson has a slight rolled flat bottom of a monitoring and a vee in the tail accompanied 50:50 to round rails laid in the tail and a deep flex drift.Trackers are smoooth! for long bottom turns and high, but also accurate and fast for surfing closer to the curl and the barrel trajectories. Tacker ideal dimensions Length : 7’to 8’ Width :21.75’’ to 22.5’’ Thickness :2.625’ ‘to 3’’

TEAR DROP

The tear drop is a short version of the End Singles 70’s-inspired shapers Australians Richie West and Michael Cundith. The shape is water drop with a round nose and a narrow pin tail for a surf on the front and deep in the tube. This board is made or hollow waves to the top of the head. Available with or without wing. Tear Drop ideal odds. Length : 5’8’’ to 7’0’’. Width : 18.5’’ to 21’’. Thickness : 2.38’’ to 3’’.

WAYLING

The Wayling is a shorter version of the ETFs, the result is a very smooth and fast board for soft waves hollow up above the head. This small Tracker allows surfing on the front while remaining agile and responsive . Wayling ideal dimensions Length : 5’10’’ to 7’0’’. Width : 20.5’’ to 22’’. Thickness : 2.38’’ to 3’’.

Another continuation / progression of my previous model the Wayling. Admittedly, this year I was heavily into the addition of stings to my personal boards. The extra speed and initial drive became very addictive. The wayling sting features a break in the outline just behind centre of outline. The bottom hard edge created by this break gives more initial speed and the harder longer bottom edge produces great drive throughout turns. The Sting also provides a break in outline between both feet when surfing - Ive found this gives a great pivot point and pop / jivy release of the top - the harder bottom edge eliminating the usual stickiness sometimes felt by a long heavily rolled midlength rail. Deck - Rolled, flat towards a softly beaked nose. Rails (from nose) - Tucked edge up in the nose - into 60/40 egg rail - Into sudden hard bottom edge sting outline break - continues to have 60% deck rail roll through to tail. Bottom - (from nose) slight hull entry to transitional flat into slight vee in the tail Tail - round or pintail Fin - Rakey greenough’esque flex fin Ideal Conditions - Sandbars 1 - 4 feet, Point breaks at 1 - 6 feet, Reef 4 - 6 feet. sizes - 6’6 - 7’6 variations of widths between 19 – 23’’
