The University of Washington School of Music celebrated its Class of 2022, 60 students strong, divided evenly between undergraduate and graduate students completing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in 2022.

An in-person Grand Finale celebration at the Music Building on Friday, June 10 for graduates and their invited guests marked the first non-virtual Commencement celebration for School of Music grads since 2019. In addition to recognition of graduating students, the program included a welcome from School of Music Acting Director Joël-François Durand, and brief remarks by graduates Christine Chu (BM Strings, BA Communication) and Tiffany Walker (DMA Choral Conducting). Graduate Megan Hutchison (MM Woodwinds), flute, performed Valerie Coleman’s Danza de la Mariposa for a capacity audience in Brechemin Auditorium.

Brittanee Wong (‘22 DMA, Piano Performance) introduces her tiniest family member . A couple of doctors: Chris Mathakul (‘22 DMA, Wind Conducting) and Jonathan Rodriguez (‘22 DMA, Percussion) . School of Music Acting Director Joël-François Durand and Associate Director Ted Poor .
