We’ve got the tools, expertise, and support to help you transfer to UW-River Falls and thrive when you get here. Your transfer journey is unique to you - the school you attended, the credits you’ve taken, and we’re here to provide a personalized plan to make transferring as seamless as possible.
You can set up an in-person or virtual appointment with our transfer admissions counselor. We’ll talk you through your plans, share more about our academic programs, cost, financial aid, and the resources available to you as a transfer student. Before you enroll, you’ll work with an adviser to review your unofficial credit evaluation and learn more about course equivalencies.
Get the Most from Your Coursework
• Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC): Completed MnTC will grant a waiver of General Education and University Requirements (except for a one credit Health and Fitness for Life course). Specific college, degree, licensure and prerequisite requirements must still be completed with individual courses.
• Associate of Arts (AA) degrees from Minnesota and Wisconsin will grant a waiver of University Requirements and General Education requirements. Specific degree, licensure and prerequisite requirements must still be completed with individual courses. AA degrees from other states are reviewed individually to see if they qualify for a similar waiver. Technical classes and Technical Degrees (AS - Associate of Science and AAS - Associate of Applied Science) are reviewed by faculty advisers for course-by-course transfer.

Whether your passion is piano or guitar, singing showtunes or playing in the pep band and marching band, the performing arts at UWRF have something to offer you. Not a music major? That’s okay! UW-River Falls athletes compete in NCAA Division III and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Some of our communities even connect students with common interests or similar majors. These learning communities are optional, but they’re a great way to connect with your fellow students. Communities include College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, School of Business and Economics, College of Arts and Sciences, Gaming and Esports, Gender Inclusive, Honors, Substance Free, and TEACH.
Parking
Students (including first-year students) may purchase a residential or commuter parking permit. Rates vary depending on the lot. Permits are sold on a first come, first served basis so if you’re interested, put this on your to-do list!

Will Applying TestOptional Impact my Scholarship Eligibility?
You will be considered for meritbased scholarships whether you submit test scores or not. When determining your scholarship award, we’ll look at the same factors we considered when evaluating your application for admission - primarily your academic performance in high school.
Standardized test scores will be factored into your scholarship award if you choose to submit them, but it will not hurt your chances at scholarship funding if you choose to apply without test scores.
NOTE: In rare exceptions, test scores may be required if you want to be considered for one of our Foundation scholarship programs.

Interested in receiving federal and state financial aid? You need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form
Application Process
1. Beginning in late fall, complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov with school code 003923. For faster processing, apply for your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.
2. After you file your FAFSA, you will receive your FAFSA Submission Summary. Review it thoroughly and make any needed corrections.
3. The Department of Education may select your FAFSA for verification purposes. If this happens, our Financial Aid Office will ask that you submit additional documents for our records.
4. Check your UWRF email account for your financial aid acceptance email and all other communications from the Financial Aid Office.

How Do I Know if I Should Apply Test-Optional?
If you’re satisfied with your scores and think they accurately reflect your academic achievements, we encourage you to include them with your application.
If you don’t think your scores accurately reflect your academic ability and potential, you should consider applying Test-Optional. You won’t be penalized for not including them, but you should know once you submit your application, you won’t be able to add them if you change your mind.

We know that GPA, class rank and course options vary widely between high schools, so we will continue to do a comprehensive review of your application. Although we’ll consider both academic and non-academic factors, your performance in the classroom remains the most important factor in our review process.
High school GPA is a strong predictor of success in college, so we’ll take a close look at your high school transcript, evaluating both the challenge of your high school courses and your academic performance. We’ll also consider your extracurricular activities, personal achievements, community service, family commitments, employment responsibilities and any other information that you’d like to provide.

Admitted Student Checklist

COMPLETE ASAP
o Activate Your Falcon Account. Head online to password.uwrf.edu to activate your Falcon account. You’ll need your Student ID number, which can be found in your admission letter and email.
o Check Your UWRF Email Account. This is the primary way the university will connect with you throughout the enrollment process.
o Apply for Financial Aid. Apply early to maximize the aid you’re eligible to receive at www.fafsa.gov (FAFSA School Code: 003923). You can apply beginning in late Fall.
TIME SENSITIVE
*Please note: Dates listed are for students planning to enroll fall semester. For students starting spring semester, please visit the link above for our full spring enrollment timeline.
o Apply for Housing. You can take the first step and sign your housing contract beginning September 15.
o Apply for Scholarships. Complete our online scholarship application to be considered for hundreds of UW-River Falls scholarships. To maximize your scholarship opportunities, apply by January 1. The final deadline is February 1.
o Take Placement Tests. Universities of Wisconsin placement tests are required for all new students who have not completed collegelevel courses in English and math. Sign up for placement testing before your orientation date.
o Sign Up for New Student Registration. New Student Registration is where you’ll meet with your academic adviser, learn the online class registration process, meet other new students and leave campus with a complete class schedule.
STARTING CLASSES
o Submit Test Credit. If you have taken Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, make sure to have an official score report sent to UWRF.
o Apply for Tuition Reciprocity (Minnesota students only) Reciprocity allows you to pay a rate comparable to other Minnesota universities.
o Join the Admitted Student Facebook Group. Meet other students admitted to UW-River Falls for your semester. Request to join by searching “UW-River Falls Admitted Students” and find your entry term!
o Send Final Transcripts. Don’t forget to send us your final high school or college transcripts. We’ll verify that you’ve successfully completed your most recent term and/or that you’ve graduated from high school.
