SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS VISION marine applications
SGG
Stadip速Marine one step ahead For Saint-Gobain the marine industry is an important market. Saint-Gobain Marine Applications is introducing a totally new laminated glass for the Marine in-
dustry which has a lower weight/ ratio than standard products and integrates energy saving coatings what increases flexibility and very short delivery times. Increasingly the use of glass in marine sector requires the fitting of larger and thicker glasses in single, double and laminated format. There is also a growing demand of coated energy saving glasses with a high light tramission (min. 60 %).
Until now the need of coated glasses thicker than 12 mm was covered by a fix size production. Therefore the glass had to be upgraded with sun control coatings after tempering. This is usually done during specified campaigns that caused long delivery times, fragile quality and a rather low flexibility especially for replacement glasses. This new approach combining the use of solar control coatings with thicker tempered and laminated glasses guarantees short lead times and great flexibility.
Approval SGG Stadip速 Marine is equivalent to DIN ISO 614 and type approved by Germanischer Lloyd as shown in the table. SGG Stadip速Marine

Customer needs are our needs! The first development target was to be flexible in the production of sun control glasses for ships. The second development target was to decrease the weight of the required glass. SGG Stadip
Marine: one glass with two functions in energy saving. Less weight and at the same time better control of solar energy! ®
Compared to the normal PVB the new foil has a new chemical combination with an app. 100 x higher stiffness and 5 x higher tear strength at room temperature. This interlayer, a special glass treatment and a new developed production process guarantee the impressive quality of this product values.
Summarising the advantages of SGG Stadip®Marine: • superior restraining feature if the glass gets damaged. SGG Stadip® Marine brings additional safety on board of a ship. While normal single tempered glass will fragment into thousands of small pieces SGG Stadip® Marine remains firmly within the frame without fragmentation taking place, preventing water ingress.
• less weight = less handling and energy surcharge costs
• up to 25 % thinner glass construction makes weight savings in the frame and steelwork possible.
• nearly all colours available.
Production range: maximum size: 2500 x 4000 mm Optical quality: SGG Stadip® Marine presents high optical vision.
• excellent stability along the glass edge allows it to be used in open positions such as balconies. Our SGG Stadip®Marine laminated glass has shown incomparable weather stability after 10 years exposure in high temperature tests and marine environment conditions, meeting ASTM B 117 salty water spray test.
