Unit 4 Movement in Art How wrong are those simpletons, of whom the world is full, who look more at colour than at the figures, which show spirit and movement. Michelangelo

Investigation Workbook • The focus of your investigation will be based on the depiction of movement in Art. Thoroughly research how different artists, movements and designers have attempted to create movement in their work. • How do artists depict movement today? Investigate and develop your knowledge of the skills and techniques involved in the creation of their work. Consider how this might inform your own work. • Investigate the Futurist movement, comparing and contrasting the styles and ways of working of two of the main protagonists of the movement. Investigate the Futurist manifesto. Consider its historical context and how it may have reflected society at the time of its publication. • Record your studio work as it progresses, documenting processes and techniques encountered. Studio Work • Create artwork in any medium of your choosing which depicts/considers movement. Investigation workbook and studio work to be completed by Tuesday 14 February, 2012. A critique of your work will take place on the same day.
