‘‘ Street photography is all about the journey to express yourself and finding who you are. Through my own street photography my style has evolved quite a bit. I first started shooting images similar to that of Cartier-Bresson, by focusing on scenes, geometry, shapes, people, and capturing the decisive moment. However as my environment changed, I found out that my interests in photography changed as well. The previous style of photography I was doing no longer interested me, and I wanted to try something new. I stumbled upon the work of Gilden, experimented getting close with a flash, and now it just feels right to me. Finding your own style when it comes to street photography is a life-long journey. It is still something that I am searching for myself, so don’t feel frustrated if you can’t discover it over night. The only way to learn is to constantly go out there and shoot– and stay on the f*cking bus. ‘‘ -Eric Kim-

I’m a fresh graduate with a Master’s degree in English literature and culture. I love drawing, taking pictures, and reading books when I have some free time. These are my favourite hobbies. Philosophy and arts inspire me, because they reflect reality and truth about life and existence. Photography gives us the chance to immortalize some special and beautiful moments. As a nature lover, pictures of nature have always fascinated me. I love taking pictures in nature; pictures of flowers, trees, sunsets, clouds... I get all excited like... like a bee. Oh and I love bees!

‘‘The Algerian Nostalgia, has one definition, it’s in the eyes and manners of our grandparents, they bring us the beautiful past, the old memories, we call them ‘‘ El Baraka ‘‘ they are a source of goodness, they have their own smell, and sometimes we all had that moment when we need a hug or a kiss on the front from them, in fact we don’t know exactly why we feel safe between their arms everytime we do, these people have their own lifestyle, clothes and even food’’ - Amine Ounnas Picture by: @Rananouille

Inte r v ie w :
- Can you introduce yourself for us ? I’m Lycia and i’m 23, from free spirit galaxy, but currently living in Algeria, architecture student and instagramer. @ cairramba - What are your favorite hobbies ? Sleeping (yes it is a hobby), eating, listening to music, making movies in my head, watching actual movies etc... - When did you start shooting ? and what’s your favorite place to shoot or it’s just about the mood ? Maybe a year and a half ago, when i got my dslr. Now I shoot anywhere i feel comfortable to, and when i have my camera with me. - what inspires you when it comes to photography ? Mostly music, or after i’ve watched a movie with beautiful cinematography or just people. -What do you use in post-production for photography software ? Since i only upload my pictures on instagram i use 2 apps vsco and snapseed. - If you have the chance to take just one photo, what do you think that you gonna shoot ? Space and planets, or underwater (with whales and jellyfishes) or my favorite people in the world, that doesn’t really answer the question of ONE picture, does it we can still combine all of these in one ?!
- What’s your favorite song ? I dont have a favorite song, i have a lot of favorite songs that change everytime i discover new ones, rather than that i’ll go with the 2 songs i’m listing the most lately «Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (Live) and Chance The Rapper - Good ass intro. - What’s your favorite movie ? Same i’ll go with the latest movie i’ve watched which is «A bigger Splash». - Describe photography in few words ? Moment, beautiful, vibe, limitless..

a window through the past, to escape from today, going back to the old days we miss, Nostalgia brings us that odor and flavor of love.. in Algeria, we say El Bled, Darchra, Douar.. all these places, where nature flirts.. with mountains, rivers , old house and with their vintage antique floors and gardens.. the odor of our grandma and her foods.. that person was always a source of love and peace.. - Amine Ounnas picture by Zineb.A

Visual Story by Amine Ounnas
welcome to the hidden Algeria, where no media, no lenses of press, forgotten people, here where the government had never been ! i travalled and crossed many villages and ‘‘ Dashra ‘‘ in the Algerio-tunisian borders, in my Region called El Taref, these pictures are taken in between ‘‘ Bougouss, El Aoun and Raml Essoug ‘‘. Life here, seems to be in the 70s, most of people work in grazing sheeps and cows and some of traditional farming, they were suffering from bring water from far places, no gaz in 2016 ! and they still use woods ! in this dark story, there is some beauty hidden also ! that wonderful nature surrounding everything, rivers, trees, flowers, small houses, gardens, and just some angels were missed their to look a piece of heaven or paradise ! people their are so kind a calm, they love to discuss and spend time together, cup of tea or a coffee can made your day there ! all of that let me forget about the city..
The Algerian woman here isn’t the one we see on TV, instagram or Audin Street.. the woman here stills graze cheeps and cows, walking kilometres everyday to farm, or to bring water, but they keep smiling, where that society stills believe in the holiness of the man, she cannot go to University, shooping, listening to music or meeting new friends or going to work and making make-up everyday, after the age of 18, the only thing that she can do is to accept a cousin wanted to marry here ! After being in this place and close enough from the real life of these women, i remembered the way that some feminists talk on TV, Radio and magazine ! they suck ! they don’t know anything about what the real algerian woman needs ! from what they suffer in fact, the truth is terrible, the needs of these girls and women are not a short skirt and some heels for a party and that tape of freedom and equality between men and women ! the real equality is liberate these minds in ‘‘ el jazayer el 3ami9a ‘‘ the forgotten Algeria.
