SASOLBURG. – Die Sasolburg Cobras Rugbyklub het sowat twee jaar gelede vanaf die Flavuis Marekasportterrein na die DP de Villiers-stadion geskuif. Die klub is nou gevestig en spog ook met ‘n splinternuwe klubhuis. Die klub het ook ‘n ‘driving range’ waar daar gedurende die week en Saterdae gholfballe geslaan kan word. Verlede jaar het die klub se o/21- en eerste spanne onderskeidelik hul ligas gewen. Die klub se tweede span het ook goed gevaar en die tweede plek in sy liga behaal. Op Saterdag 11 April het die 2015 liga amptelik afgeskop. Die Cobras was gasheer vir die Kempton Wolwe. Die o/21’s het onder leiding van die kaptein en kookwater-flank, Drikus van Tonder, met 22 - 12 geseëvier. Drikus van Tonder, Johan du Toit en Luba

Mahalima het almal agter die doellyn gaan kuier vir die Cobras. Die 2de’s moes hard werk en was sommer gou agter op die telbord, maar het met 12-27 vasgeval. Edmund Harmse en Johan du Toit het darem elk ‘n drie gedruk. Met die eerste span het dit baie goed gegaan en hulle het reeds na net vyf minute se spel agter die doellyn gaan kuier. Die Cobras se swaar pak voorspelers het die wedstryd oorheers. Kaptein Ferdi Oberhaulser was baie tevrede met sy span se vertoning. Piet Prinsloo het twee drieë gedruk en Anton Bothma, George de Beer en Andries Kwesi elk een. * Die Cobras speel op 9 Mei in ‘n tuiswedstryd op die DP de Villiersstadion teen die span van VUT (Vaal Universiteit van Tegnologie). Die Cobras oe fen op Dinsdae en Donderdae van 18:45 tot 20:15. Belangstellendes kan tydens die oefentye aansluit.

Cilliers Joubert van die Cobras se tweede span probeer keer dat een van die Kempton Wolwe die doellyn oorsteek.

SASOLBURG. – Danksy Spargo Mica Sasolburg kry die Gemeenskapsdienssentrum by die Sasolburg polisiestasie ‘n nuwe baadjie. Die Sasolburg GPF het die inisiatief geneem en Spargo Mica Sasolburg genader om Luigi Gaigher (Sasolburg GPF voorsitter) en kol. Paul Kubheka (stasiekommissaris van die Sasolburg-polisie) bedank hier vir Marius Kunneke (Spargo Mica Sasolburg se bestuurder), vir die verf wat hulle borg. Foto: Schalk le Roux

The Emfuleni local Municipal Council has during an Ordinary Council Meeting held on 31 March 2015, by resolution of Council noted the draft rates levies, rebates, exemptions, reductions and exclusions to come into effect 1 July 2015, and is hereby published for public consideration and inputs. The proposed general residential rate levy for the 2015/2016 financial year is R0.01059 (9%) increase and rates levies for all property categories will be in relation to the rate ratio between the residential and non-residential categories of rate-able properties.

The resolution is available at the municipality’s head (Rates section) and satellite offices, libraries as well as on the official website of the municipality, www.emfuleni.gov.za

The resolution of Council will also be communicated as part of the draft Budget and IDP process.

SASOLBURG. - Vanderbijlpark Rotary recently held a golf day at Heron Banks in Vaalpark to raise funds for worthy causes. The weather turned out great and the players enjoyed a great day in good spirit. At the end of the day it was the better ball team of Pierre Heyneche and Marius Jacobs who clinched victory, followed by Elsje and Magda Vermeulen (team MooiVaal Media) and third was Johann Pretorius and Romano (Varkie) Muller. “We are pleased with the day’s turn out and would like to thank all the sponsors and players. All the proceeds of the day will go to the community,” says Mark Venter, member of the Vanderbijlpark Rotary Club.

The grooming of young minds and behaviour starts with women in different communities around South Africa and this is the main aim and objective of the Miss Earth South Africa Programme. Not only do they empower young women through environmental education but give back to communities by planting trees, initiating recycling campaigns and starting vegetable gardens. The organisation has been acknowledged and recognised from within the environmental space, both nationally and internationally. This has allowed for a greater scope and awareness. This initiative is to develop young environmentalists trying to make a difference in South Africa and abroad. This year’s current Miss Earth South Africa is Ilzé Saunders, a graduate of North West University’s Potchefstroom Campus and a Klerksdorp resident. She is a downto-earth, passionate young lady filled with drive, spontaneity and humility. Miss Earth South Africa Executive Director Catherine Constantinides said, “Her hard work, hands-on involvement and te-

nacity will stand her in good stead. We are proud of her efforts as a green ambassador, not only for Miss Earth, but for our beautiful country.” During Saunders’ year she has been actively involved in reducing her carbon footprint while travelling. VANDERBIJLPARK. - Liefhebbers van veteraanmotors het op Sondag 12 April van heinde en ver na President Hyper tussen Vanderbijlpark en Vereeniging gestroom om na die uitstallings van honderde ou motors te kom kyk.

Toeskouers kon onbederfbare kos saambring, wat agterna onder welsynsorganisasies in die gebied versprei is. R5 000 en verskeie ander pryse was ook op die spel, wat deur President Hyper geborg is. Besoekers kon volgens hul voertuie se jaarmodel aantrek, en

die “hippies” uit die sestigerjare het veral die lagspiere gekielie. President Hyper beplan nog verskeie opwindende geleenthede hierdie jaar. Wees op die uityk vir besoeke van Dr. Victor, Gerhard Steyn en Robbie Wessels!

EK WAS SKEPTIES IN DIE BEGIN DIE “MAGIC RING HET VIR MY GEWERK” SJ STEWART (55) Sasolburg

In die begin was ek baie skepties. Toe ontmoet ek Mama Fatima, ek en my familie kon dit nie glo nie. Ons het betaal vir die ring en Mama Fatima se ritueele en als het goed gegaan. Na my man oorlede is, het ek gesukkel om rekeninge te betaal en skuldvry te wees. Ek het verskeie kere by die Casino aangeklop asook die Lotto gespeel met die hoop om ‘n geldjie te wen om sodoende my gesin te versorg. Helaas het ek elke keer verloor. Ons huis en motor is deur die bank teruggeneem en die besigheid het gevou. My lewe het handomkeer verander en die rekeninge het bly instroom en boonop moes ek huur ook betaal. Ek het telkemale gedink om selfmoord te pleeg, maar ek het ‘n gesin gehad waarvoor ek moes sorg. Ek het die ring huis toe gevat en gaan bad met die ring. Die Saterdag het ons die Lotto gespeel. Ons het 4 Miljoen rand gewen. Gelukkiger kon ons nie wees nie Baie dankie MAMA FATIMA. My lewe het op verander. Ek het weer huis gekoop en al my skuld gedelg. Ek kan nie op hou praat daarvan nie. Indien jy finansiële probleme het en jy het onmiddelik ‘n oplos sing nodig sal ek beslis MAMA FATIMA aanbeveel. Jou lewe sal nooit weer dieselfde wees nie. Finansies, Gesonheid, liefde en familie dit werk vir alles en vele meer.

MEYERTON. - The annual Inter-District Bowls Tournament took place amongst the 20 districts at various venues all over the country from March 9 to 14. Each district sent in an Open Team, a B-Team and a Senior Team, each

consisting of eight bowlers. The Sedibeng Men’s Open team played in Durban and had to play against nine other teams during the week. They won most of their matches and advanced to the finals match on

the Friday. Their opponents in the finals - the Johannesburg Bowls Association team - were a very formidable group of bowlers as there were six current Springboks amongst them. Our skip, George Lotter (jnr), spoke to his

The Sedibeng team finally got 38 out of a possible 45 points for the whole week and thus won gold – a first for Sedibeng. The Sedibeng ladies who witnessed this triumph were ecstatic and let everyone know by SMSing the news. “Well done, Paul, Chris, Georgie, George, TC, Jimmy, Phil and Willie! We are proud of you,” Tommie Louw, President of Sedibeng Bowls, said. Tommie was not only congratulated on his team’s champion performance, but also on their good behaviour throughout the week.
