ANALYSIS OF CURRENT RESIDENCE
Objective and Learning outcome • Make the CAD plan of your current residence and analyze it on the basis of zoning , space used, proximity, form of the space, circulation and movement.
• Improving our CAD skills, relationship between public, private and semi private sectors. • Observing the immediate surroundings and improving our analysis skills • Studying and analyzing the house and draw inferences from it
Zoning The house is Clearly divided into Public, private, Semi public and semi private Areas
Analysis sheet Forms and spaces Space used The space is exactly in the shape of cuboide . Medium used area
clearance
maximum used area
Less used area
Entrance lobby and the corridor is the area which is used maximum .
Movement and circulation There is a very less space Between the shaft window and the wardrobe So the window of the shaft cannot be opened properly.
There is no space Between the wall and the bed Which is one of the major problem.
Movement in the house is not very complicated It is quite simple in horizontal axis.
THE SOLOMON HOUSE
Objective and Learning outcome • In this activity we were suppose to choose an architect and his residence project in india with its cad plan and all the pictures of its interior and exterior , then we were suppose analyze the particular project with the help of the zoning , proximity , circulation , clearance , space and axis, and sun path diagram.
• How to study and analyze house on different basis like zoning , axis and principles of designs. • Understanding the layout of furniture and material used. • Relationship between the space and the sunlight. • Studying and analyzing the special elements of the house.
The Solomon House Planning has been based on an open-format to visually enhance the size of the internals & give it that spatial quality so crucial to define
Ground floor plan
a space without boundary.
This is a project by Ashwin Architects and it is located at Ramamurthynagar, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Project's program: Single family house.
Terrace plan
The internal & external courts have sandwiched the dining area taking the ‘built’ into the ‘outside’ thereby removing the ‘finite’ separating the inside & the outside. The spatial control elements form an important part of this design The external court receives a high back towards the compound to enable a modicum of privacy. The stone slabs arranged in a ‘U’ format form the seating area. The internal court is topped with a skylight which filters light into the house continuously. The first flight of the steps leading up to the living area is flanked with a light well. The floor slab extends to the outside to form a small patch of elevated garden. The site is a north facing property measuring 40’ East to West & 55’ North to South located in Ramamurthynagar, which is a suburb of North Bangalore city, India.
First floor plan
There is a division between public , private , Semi public and semi private sectors .
Zoning There is no clearance problem in the Circulation of the space . The circulation Of the space has been properly planned .
circulation
Space and axis
There are the two main axis running through the house. And also dinning the main space which is accessed it connects all the spaces of the house.
proximity
There is a L-shaped axis which combines master bedroom , dinning And sitting , moreover the courtyard, dinning and the sitting area are in a Straight line. Bedroom is close to kitchen which a good point .
Structural grid
Material required Steel has formed an integral part of the structure to symbolize modernity & impart an element of sleekness in design. The form has taken black & white as base color & interspersed with various shades of grey. The building is a column & beam structure with solid cement blocks as the wall materials. The roofs are basically concrete slabs with steel reinforcements. The external & internal surfaces are cement plastered.
- CERAMIC TILES
- STEEL
- GRANITE
- BLACK MARBLE
- WHITEMARBLE
. A lot of steel elements; some are structural and some are aesthetic. Certain external cladding materials have been imported from Thailand due to their extreme weather-proof nature. The internal finishing materials are a combination of vitrified tiles & marble for flooring, granite for the staircase, ceramic tiles & granite for the bathrooms
- DARK WOOD
Special element The internal court is topped with a skylight which filters light into the house continuously. The first flight of the steps leading upto the living area is flanked with a light well
Form , space and volume study The space is in the Form of cube. Which have been scoped out Making it a subtractive from and space. The building skin has been extensively treated with incisions, subtractions &additions which have resulted in a balanced composition
Interior of the House The external court receives a high back towards the compound to enable a modicum of privacy. The stone slabs arranged in a ‘U’ format form the seating area. The internal court is topped with a skylight which filters light into the house continuously. The first flight of the steps leading upto the living area is flanked with a light well. Drawing room Existing – existing drawing room is close to the entrance of the house . Problem – it is also treated as a family lounge . Also there is less space of circulation. Solution – separate family lounge and so the area should be increased. Dining room Existing – existing dining room is combined with the space of drawing room . Problem – as it is combined with the drawing room there is so privacy in dining room , also less space for circulation. Solution – dining space should be increased and also it should be close to the kitchen. Family lounge Existing – there is no separate family lounge , drawing room is treated as a family lounge. Proximity Matrix • Activity To make a table comparing which room should be near, which should be little away and which is not at all related to that room.
• Learning outcome It helps us in defining how often is a room used and to which room and space it should be nearest according the daily household activities , it gives a nice idea in my mind and clear the confusion of which room should be near to what room and for what purpose .
