Go Green! 6 Elevated Parks In The World
The concept of ‘Elevated Parks’ perhaps started with the Promenade Plantée in Paris. Also known as Coulée Verte, the name roughly translates to ‘Tree-lined walkway’. This legendary attraction in Paris is a narrow parkway which is around 4.8 kilometres long. It was constructed in the year 1993 on a 19th century Vincennes railway viaduct. This beautiful elevated park begins at the east of Opéra Bastille and ends at a spiral staircase which leads to the boulevard Périphérique. Elevated Parks are generally built on abandoned elevated railway lines. Instead of dismantling and destructing the railway line bridges and paths, beautiful flora is planted along the tracks, giving the denizens a place for leisure activities along with giving the neighbourhood a facelift. Talk about putting worthless things to good use! Here are a few gorgeous Elevated Parks in the world: Promenade Plantée, Paris:
