Ashok Nagar goes back to two-way traffic system The decision to restore the twowaytrafficsysteminand around Ashok Pillar has brought cheers to residents. Residents have been protesting against the one-way traffic system which was introduced as a temporary measure way back in December 2007. Since then a series of protests, public meetings and petitions to authorities weretakenbytheresidents, office-bearers of resident welfare associations and the motorists alike. Now with the restoration of old traffic flow, people are hopeful that overspeeding, chaos and accidentswillreduce. But what remains to be answeredisundertheguise of one-way system

medians built for considerable lengths were demolished. A resident observes that the newly built medians were pulled down to pave way for the one-way traffic earlier. “But nowtheauthoritieswillhave to reconstruct it,” he says. Already median construction is in full swing on Anna Main Road, KK Nagar. Due to lack of prudence and planning, money worth crores of rupees is being spent on median construction and demolition by the government. A little bit of thinking and planning could've saved huge amount of tax-payers money. Is someone listening?

Former test cricketer inaugurates cricket camp

A laudable attempt in humour

The young team of Chennai Drama House made a commendable in humour in their play Kandapadi Kandupudi. The play was staged during the Chittirai Nataka Vizha organised by Krishna Gana Sabha. Lack of encouragement for the youth in many activities can lead them to attempt many unlawful things formed the premises of the play. The concept was well handled in a story line format and the necessary twists were incorporated in the story. The artistes performance and involvement in the play scored a good impression about the play among the audience. Ganapathy approaches a doctor for his wife's ill health and the doctor, a quack suggests a surgery that costs Rs. 50,000. Ganapathy decides to spend the amount, which

was originally kept for paying his son's computer fee. Hearing the father's plans, son Siva becomes angry and says that he wanted the money for remitting the fee. He states that he would go to the extent of stealing it, if his father did not part with the money. The laundry-man and grocery merchant also require Rs. 50,000 to clear off their debts. The fake doctor and his assistant require the same amount to run away from the area. Ganapthy realises that some one has stolen the m o n e y. G a n a p a t h y approaches a detective to find out the thief. After many twists and turns, the detective traces the money. The play conveyed that youth should solve their problems in a right manner by earning money in a right way and they should not trouble or misunderstand

their parents. Mutual understanding between the artistes in the play was very enjoyable. The arrangements such as stage property, lighting and background music were handled properly. Even though there were some artiste changes in the last minute, the troupe performed the play in a very appreciable manner. Vivek Rajagopal, who handled the story, dialogue and direction also appeared as doctor cum Kundalakesi in the play Anirudh as doctor's assistant, Arunsundar as Ganapathy, Niranjan as Siva, Vignesh as Subramani, Sambhavi as mother , Divya as anchor and Karthik, Devaraj, Anush, Kowsik and Senthil, as supporting artistes did a good job. It was a laudable attempt in humour.

Former Test Cricketer AG Milka Singh inaugurated the 10th summer cricket coaching camp at AVM CCF at Avichi School on April 5. Cricket Academy appreciated the performance of the AVM CCF Students. Saliq Basha from Sigaram Pillai Cricket Academy and Dave, former TNCA umpire graced the occasion. V. Mathiazhagan and P.C.Rajendran surprised the gathering by batting some good shots against D. Padmanabhan’s bowling while inaugurating the camp at the main pitch.
