Promoting inherent talents

I am a 42-year-old business man, having a busy schedule. Last year, I was diagnosed as having diabetes after a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) and I was prescribed some diabetes medicines. I continued the medicines for three months only. For the past six months I am not taking any medicines for diabetes. Now I am feeling very much tired and get exhausted very easily. My family doctor suggested me to for GTT again to test my diabetes status. Can I do the GTT again or can I start the previous antidiabetes medicines without GTT? Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) is a stress test to your pancreas. In GTT, we use heavy load of glucose to assess the capability of your pancreas to control sugar by secreting insulin. By doing repeated GTT you are inducing more stress to the pancreas. In a known prediabetes patient, repeated GTT can induce full blown diabetes. GTT is usually done to detect the diabetes status. Once a patient has been detected as having Type 2 diabetes, he is a lifelong diabetes patient, but he can be manage it without medicines.. GTT can be repeated for non-diabetic persons to assess diabetes status. So do not do GTT again, since you are a prediabetes patient. Regarding starting the same old prescription, it is always better to know the diabetes status, before initiating medicines. Do fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar levels and consult your doctor for antidiabetes medicines. Always keep fasting blood sugar within the range of 90- 120 mgs%, postprandial blood sugar 140 -160 mgs% and HbA1c less than 7%.

Sai The Saviour

One couldn’t have celebrated the Republic Day in a better way….what an exhilarating, divine, spiritual, and patriotic experience it was ….Yes! it was providential…it was by Guru kataksha ..that we were at Puttaparthy, sitting in front of Bagawan Sri Sathya Sai for almost two hours on the 26th of January ! By one pm, devotees had started gathering at the space near the huge dharshan hall at Prashanthi Nilayam , the abode of peace, divinity and discipline. Pin drop silence continued to prevail, even though the hall was jampacked and was bursting at

seams. By about 3.30 pm, vedic chanting started to fill the air ; the eyes of thousands of Sai devotees who had gathered there were fixed in the direction in which Bagawan was to enter. At 3.45 pm sharp , much to the delight of His Bhakthas , Swami’s car slowly started showing up near the crowd of women seated for dharshan ; it was indeed because of “Sukrutham “ of several previous births that we were right at that point where His divine kataksha permeated ; we, honestly couldn’t even breathe! Such was the power of Bagawan’s eyes!! The car thensteadily glided

away …out of sight, to the accompaniment of the rich tones of Sri Sooktham. Time was ticking away and then Swamy emerged out of the carved doorway beside the beautifully decorated stage. All eyes glued to that Divine form in the guise of a human being, Sai Roopa, and all lips softly utted Sai Nama, all minds totally focused on Sai Smarana……it was indeed, Heaven on Earth! And it was not over … The Republic Day celebrations that followed showcased the impact of Bagawan in shaping the future generation of our country ..Yes! the students of Sri Satya Sai Educational Centre, staged a wonderful programme, “Sai, The saviour” which stole the hearts of every devotee assembled there. Religious harmony which is very pertinent to the chaos prevailing in today’s world was highlighted through the play in English. The play featured a world conference where the heads of various religions quoted their respective scriptures which forecasted the advent of an

Avatar of God in the kaliyuga and at the end to their surprise, discover that Bagawan Sri Sathya Sai fitted perfectly into the description given in the Gospel of every religion! The play concluded with the universal declaration that “Sai is the Saviour” of mankind in this age and his doctrines of selfless service to fellowmen and surrender to the Parabramhan are the only tools to salvation. The students and staff had put in their best efforts in all aspects of theatre; and for that they were fortunate to receive the blessings and individual appreciation from Swamy himself !By that time it was time for the mesmerizing ‘mangala haarathy’ and the day’s last pranams to the “Avataara purusha” who is the amalgamation of “Sathyam, Shivam, And Sundaram” in its most pristine form !! How to calm your nerves

Exam time is fast approaching and Vadapalani Times tells you how to keep your cool for the exams… Step 1:

Plan everything ahead of time. Mark the dates of your test in your calendar. You should also make sure about the test centre and how to reach there in time for the exams. Step 2: Once the study leave starts, make the best use of it. The key point to remember is not to study everything. As this is the last minute preparation, give importance for important and often repeated

questions. Never brood over things that cannot be done. Make sure to spread out your study time in the most useful manner so that you don’t leave out important ones. Step 3: Once you’re through with the subject, just relax. Do not allow the feeling, ‘I’ve a test’ to stay in your mind. Sit, relax, watch television or chill out with friends. However, make sure that you’re not wasting time.

Step 4: Make sure to go to sleep early and try to get at least six to eight hours of sleep. Don't forget to set your alarm to wake you up so that you’ll be able to reach the venue ahead of the stipulated time. Avoid last minute rush. Step 5: Do not get all worked up just before the exam. Instead try to visualise what you will do once the exams are over. . - Vikram
