I am a diabetic for the past three years and I am having pain over the right shoulder for past two months. Is it due to diabetes? Shoulder pain in diabetes patients are one of the common symptoms. In a diabetes patient, the most common cause of shoulder pain is due to periarthritis of shoulder joint. Periarthritis is nothing but the inflammation of the shoulder joint capsule, which is the covering layer of shoulder joint. Periarthritis shoulder can develop due to minimal trauma to shoulder joint, excessive strain to shoulder joint and uncontrolled diabetes. Don't take pain reducing tablets regularly for this problem, because long term pain killing medications in diabetes patients damages the kidney. All the treatment required is strict diabetes control, regular physiotherapy and local pain reducing agents if needed. If the patients follow strict diabetes control and physiotherapy, the pain will subside over the period and the patient can use shoulder joint as normal as before. It is always advisable to follow regular diet at regular timings along with regular medicines to avoid fluctuations in sugar levels and avoid complications. A fitting birthday celebration for violin chakravarthy Lalgudi “That “Jayaraman of Ayodya” in the Thretha Yuga conquered the asuras with His vils and baanams, but Jayaraman of Lalgudi in the 21st century conquered the hearts of thousands of rasikas with his vil and violin. This was how the comperer Shankar Venkataraman introduced violin chakravarthy Lalgudi Gopala Iyer Jayaraman, in an inimitable and humorous style. The memorable occasion was the celebrations of Lalgudi's 80the birthday celebrations on October 11 at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. The event organised by Lalgudi Music Forum in association with Sri Krishnagana Sabha was indeed a very homely function for two reasons one…as every Lalgudi Rasika knows… Krishnagana Sabha is a second home for the loveable Lalgudi family; two, Lalgudi pani and padaantharam may be mind boggling, supreme and simply colossal but Lalgudi the man is remarkably simple, humble and unostentatious. It was evident even on this occasion, instead of being

seated on the dais , he wanted to be seated in the midst of audience allowing even the common rasika to come ,touch his feet, give a bunch of roses and receive the blessings. In fact even the organizers came down from the stage and got his blessings and released the CD and the souvenir 'Lalgudi 80' (compiled by Shankar Venkataraman). The Sabha secretary Y. Prabhu along with his wife and daughter, Sashwathy (in her own right as a disciple of Lalgudi) honoured the legend with a golden kalasam and all these gave the function an endearing homely touch. Lalgudi Mami's presence by the great Mastero's side that evening, did prove the proverbial point- behind (or can we say beside here) every successful man, there is a woman . And she is the Rajalakshmi in the Sangeetha Samrajyam of Jayarama Chakravarthy ! The function did have its share of impressive felicitations by Thiagarajan, chairman, Sri Ram Group, .Prof. Ramanathan and Sujatha Vijayaragavan. A Lec –Dem by ghatam

We rasikas prayed to Sarva Nadhathmike Sharade, to bestow on our dear Lalgudi, health, happiness, more laurels and more music for another 100 more years to come…. “Lalgudi Mama!
