It's a bumpy ride Walking or motoring past the stretch on Alagirisamy Salai in KK Nagar has become a nightmare for residents and motorists. According to residents, the stretch was dug up for laying pipes some time ago. However the authorities did not bother to cover the portions properly. The situation worsened due to the recent rains. The rubbish strewn on one side of the road has aggravated the misery. The road users are at their

wits end as they could not negotiate the strech, especially in the morning and afternoon, and also at the time of opening and

closing of the schools. Traffic blocks have become order of the day between 8 am and 9.30 am; and also

Children's Day celebrated Felicitation for school secretary

I am a diabetic for the past six years. I have been taking medicines for that. However, nowadays I feel very hungry by noon and feel palpitation and giddiness if I delay my food. This is due to low blood sugar that occurs during the periods between your food timings. This is very common in diabetics, especially around noon, as it is the time before your lunch. For a diabetic patient timely intake of food is very important. They should also avoid sweet rich diet. A diabetes affected person is requested to take regular food intake with three major feed (i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner) and three small feed in between (mid- morning snacks, mid-evening snacks and bedtime snacks). Food stuff like that of tea or coffee without sugar or buttermilk or sugar free biscuits or vegetable salad or vegetable sandwich or vegetarian soup or some selective fruit salad can be taken in the mid- morning to avoid low blood sugar levels. Whatever the diabetes medicines, it will work 24 hours to bring down your blood sugar level; so patients have to take regular food at appropriate timings to avoid low blood sugar levels. Two major laws particular in diabetes food is to avoid fasting and avoid feasting.

Both are said to have been personally initiated by Babaji, and refer to him in their writings. He has maintained the remarkable appearance of a youth of about 16 years of age. During the 19th century Madame Blavatsky, the founder of the Theosophical Society, identified him as the Matreiya, the living Buddha, or World Teacher for the coming era, d e s c r i b e d i n C . W. Leadbetter's "Masters and the Path." Babaji was believed to be born in a small coastal village now known as Parangipettai, in Tamil Nadu, India, near where the Cauvery River flows into the Indian Ocean. He was given the name "Nagaraj," which means "serpent king," referring to "kundalini," our great divine potential power and consciousness. His birth coincided with the ascendancy (Nakshatra) of the star of Rohini, under which Krishna was also

born. The birth took place during the celebration of Kartikai Deepam, the Festival of Lights, the night before the new moon during the Tamil month of Kartika .With his grace, the birthday celebrations for the Master will celebrated with Annadhanam to the needy and continuous chanting of mantra's in the sacred birth place Babaji in Parangipettai, near Cuddalore this Dec. 2. Although Babaji prefers to remain obscure and invisible to others, occasionally he does reveals himself to his devotees and disciples, capturing their hearts in various types of personal devotional relationships in which he guides them in their development. His appeal is universal and his message is timeless. The Master is available. The Master's lila, is one of one infinite compassion. The ultimate truth is the same in all the religions.

Master of masters

As the devotees gear up to celebrate the birthday of Babaji, Vadapalani Times gives a glimpse of Babaji's life, a life which is the labour of love and gratitude. It is the Master's compassion and grace that allowed me to put these words down on paper. Mahavatar Babaji, a Himalayan mahayogi said to be about 1,800 years old, is the founder of kriya yoga. "Mahavatar" means "great avatar", and "Babaji" simply means "revered father". The world first heard about

him courtesy Paramahansa Y o g a n a n d a ' s Autobiography of a Yogi. Today, many cults are growing around his enigmatic persona. Babaji mostly works in obscurity, even while serving as a spiritual mentor to scores of masters. He has guided the destiny of India and her people, yet he is perhaps one of the most accessible of siddhayogis to walk in our midst in recent times. Over two millennia, Babaji has continued to nurture hundreds of accomplished disciples. Over the centuries, Babaji has continued to guide and inspire some of history`s greatest saints and many spiritual teachers, in the fulfillment of their mission. These include Adi Shankaracharya, the great 9th century A.D. reformer of Hinduism, and Kabir, the 15th century saint beloved by both the Hindus and Muslims.

Once this truth is realised, the shackles of religion will drop away. With the Master, inner growth happens in us without any religious compulsions. Inside each one of us there is a saint waiting to emerge. The work of a master is to bring the saint out. Babaji's mission in life is really simple. He is the destroyer

of the cycle of life and death. He is the master who carries our spirits across time and work tirelessly with compassion. He lives with us in form and h i s f o r m l e s s e n e r g y, sharing his love and energy. Om Kriya BABAJI Namah Aum ! - Vikram V
