Restoration work of sewage pipes on residents. The contractor told Vadapalani Times that as part of the repair, digging work was commenced a week ago. After digging about 15 meters depth, the damaged pipeline needs to be replaced. He further added that the work might take a minimum of one month. It seems the work could be successfully completed only if Metrowater also pitches in. Lakshminarayanan, a resident, said that the water stagnation has been a long pending issue. Residents allege that in spite of the corporation's efforts, the correct reason for stagnation could not be found. Natesan Nagar Civic Association officebearers, Suresh Babu, g e n e r a l s e c r e t a r y, S.P.Ramamurthy, jointsecretary and A.K. Narasimhan, secretary
expressed their expressed their dissatisfaction that the overflow of sewage water from a manhole on 4th Main Road has been pending for long. They alleged that there has been no initiatives from the authorities to find a permanent solution to stagnation of water and sewage block in Natesan Nagar.

MUSIC FESTIVAL 12th Week
Shyam, a member of Ramji's Isai Mazhalai and disciple of M.S.Martin and Alanthur Nagaraj (flute) proved his fluency, both in vocal and instrumental music at the Music Festival organized by Vadapalani Times and Music World, Saligramam. This was the 12th week of the famous Music Festival happening at Music World premises. After performing traditional varnam with swarams, he commenced his concert with Vathapi Ganapathim, a composition of D e e k s h i t h a r i n Hamsadhwani. His performing style on keyboard and vocal were attractive. Sabapathikku in Abhogi set to Roopakam, Entha Aanandam, a
composition of Thiagaraja in Bilahari were samples for his caliber. His alapana in Karaharapriya and Keeravani reflected his guru`s training. His involvement in music could be seen at the time of ragamalika swara prasthanam, which was the highlight of the show. His prounanciation of sahithyam was in clear diction. Prakkala nilabadi in karaharapriya, sarasasama in kapi narayani depicted sahithyanubhavamm. Alapana of Keeravani for the main item gave the sangeethanubhava. Devi Neeye thunai was sung with bhava and swarams of ragamalika were performed with ease.
Mahakavi Bharathiyar`s Chinnanziru Kiliye in Ragamalika was presented as thukada item. He concluded the c o n c e r t w i t h D r. M . Balamuralikrishna`s thillana in Brindavana raga. He was supported by Naveen (mrudangam). Naveen's layagnanam was appreciable. Lack of coordination between Shyam and Naveen was visible in some parts. Some rehearsals could have done the trick. Shyam has been learning violin under tutelage of Lalitha Raghavan and M.Chandrasekaran. Shyam`s mother is a veena vidhooshini, and his laya gnanam can be attributed to that.
Traditional concert
Sastri Bhavan Fine Arts organized Our Sada Daada Vagiran, a full length comedy play of Guru Raghavendra`s Creations Rail Priya. The troupe consists of Southern Railway Employees, which has been presenting full-length comedy plays for social cause. The theme of the play revolved around the middle c l a s s p e o p l e ' s environment and their ability to tackle the issues and it was carefully handled. Besides providing some lighter moments, the play also made the audience think. The story line revolved around a government employee's family situation and the burning problem of his son`s health. Pattabhi and Priya are husband and wife. Priya`s father conveys that his grandson's health is bad and a surgery need to be
performed which will cost about 5 lakhs. Pattabhi along with his friend Raghu approaches his neighbour Adikesavan, a rich man for a loan. Adikesavan, a kidnapper, insults Pattabhi. Raghu plans to kidnap Adi`s son for a ransom of 5 lakhs , but instead he kidnaps Adikesavan and starts demanding money from the family members. Pattabhi and Raghu kidnaps the house owner, plumber and doctor, who visits Pattabhi`s house. Police comes to the scene for investigation. An unexpected twist in Adikesavan's life happens here. His family members and his assistant declare that Adhi is dead, and plan to take away his property and money. After coming to know the real intention of his own family members, Adikesavan becomes vexed and decides to help Paattabhi by giving 5 lakhs.
The treatment of subject and handling the situations were done in an a p p r e c i a b l e m a n n e r. Actors and actress actually lived the characters. Ananthu as Pattabhi, Satheesh as Raghu, D e v a r a j a s Venkatachalam, house owner, Ravishankar as doctor, Krupa as Mari, Mohan as Adikesavan, Srinivas as Suresh,(Adi`s son),Nalla kutralam as plumber, Chandru as police inspector, Rajagopal as father-in-law, Sreemathi as Adi`s wife and Swetha as Priya proved their c o m p e t e n c e . S t o r y, dialogue and direction were by Ananthu. Padma Stage Kannan and his team (settings), Perambur Kumar (make-up) and Balu (lights) supported the team very well. Of late the reduced strength of audience has been disappointing the performers.

Dhan Crafts & Jewels Hamsadhwani along with swarams and was a good one. Deekshithar`s Sree Parthasarathe in Suddha Dhanyasi stood for clear diction. Thiagaraja`s Maa Janaki in Kambhoji was good. Keeravani raga was selected as the Main for the evening. Harikesanallur Muthiah Bagavathar`s Amba Vaani
was presented with detailed alapana, neraval and kalpanaswaram. Her voice culture and guru`s training was reflected in that item. `Paradevi Ninnu`, the neraval charanam revealed rasaanubhavam. Lalgudi Jayaraman `s thillana was performed with laya gnanam in
Revathy ragam. Lalgudi Alamelu`s disciple Bhooma on violin and mrudangam legend Guruvayoor Durai`s disciple Narayanan on mrudangam supported Bhavana in a nice manner. Sreedhar, vice-president of VDS Arts Academy appreciated Bhavana`s talent.
