The death of ‘Bomb’ Ravi after dummy bombs meant for use in films went off accidentally in his house in Gandhi Street, West Mambalam has sparked a debate on the necessity for keeping explosive materials away from residential areas. Police said that Ravi (43) used to supply dummy bombs for film shooting and
he sustained serious injuries along with his wife Ratna in the explosion, that damaged the building. Ravi, later succumbed to burn injuries after two days. Ravi had stored some bombs and gun powder in the house along with colour flowers for wrapping, when it exploded following a spark from the kitchen.
Luckily, Varun Kumar, Ravi’s son, who was also present at home during the explosion, escaped with minor injuries. According to police officials, the police have decided to launch a crackdown on all explosive units making bombs for films without license. -VP Times

I am diabetic for the past seven years. My blood sugar was under control until last month. However, when I did blood test yesterday, the fasting sugar was 162mgs% and postprandial was 286mgs%. I had some fruit juices without adding sugar. Did fruit juices without sugar, increase blood sugar levels? Thanks for your timely question. This question helps many diabetes people during this summer, since most of the patients drink fruit juices in summer. All ripe fruits are rich in carbohydrates. Fruits are made up of carbohydrates and fibre, and the fibre content depends on the variety of the fruit. Once fruits are made in to juices, the fibre content is lost and it will have only carbohydrates, even without adding sugar. So fruit juices will definitely increase blood sugar. Diabetes patients should avoid fruit juices. Bottled drinks and tender coconut are rich in sugar content. These drinks have to be avoided by diabetetics. If blood sugar is under control, diabetes patients can take fruit salads of apple, guava, papaya and watermelon. Diabetes patients can take any one fruit salad in a single day. Vegetable soups and lemon juice with artificial sweeteners can also be taken by diabetes patients.
