We reckon it's some sort of record to have three brothers in a senior team at ORMOND and we are indeed proud to have JEFF, KEN and STEPHEN RUSS teaming together . A lot more will be heard from this trio in the games ahead . Good luck boys.
All at St. Kilda CBOC would like to wish LAURIE "BAGS" SHEEHAN all the best in his new position in Perth . He will be sadly missed as he is one of our senior players (146 games) as well as being one of the most talented, having represented Victoria on several occasions .

Congratulations to De La Salle ruckman JOHN NEWTON who played his 50th game for the club last Saturday. John began his career in 1970 and has played many fine games in the ruck with his sure marking and assistance to rovers . Off the field, he has been a willing social committee worker . John's half century has been delayed by his spending last year overseas, but now that the "Sea Dog" is back, we look forward to many more games from him .

Richie Halasa last week played his 50th game for De La Salle in a'career that he began while still a student at "De La" in 1971 . His potential was evident when he claimed the Reserves best and fairest award that year, and a change of policy in 1972 enabled him to take out the best first year player award . Richie's athletic performances on the wing have been most valuable contribution to the team and he is sure to play an important role in many more games . At Elsternwick Park last week Russell Tucker, played his 50th game for University Blues; Russell was the club's best and fairest last year, while playing in mixed positions in both the back- and forward-lines . He is being married in June and the club and al the players wish him all the best for the future .

"HINTS FOR BOUNDARY UMPIRES" Boundary umpires are most important officials in Australian football, they cover more territory during a game than the field umpire, therefore they must be physically equipped for their task . Boundary umpires must always keep their yes on the play - the players, and the field and goal umpires . They must keep out of the way of players when following play they may "cut the line" by moving along inside the boundary line, but when up with the play they must keep on the line . The bal is not out until it has crossed the boundary line. If any portion of the ball is on the line - it is still in play. Do not be influenced by spectators or players . The position for the throw-in is on the boundary line . Always aim for an even "throw in" . When near the behind post do not "throw in" too far, as it may give advantages to a tc- :~m if the ball lands in front of the goals . immediately you get the ball throw it in,
do not wait for the rucks to get into position - that's their worry - yours is to put the ball into play . When a player is kicking for goal take up a position at the behind post in line with the flight of the ball . You then command a view to to give an accurate decision . If, when moving towards goal, there is a doubt as to whether a behind has been scored, or if it is out of bounds, with-hold your signal until the goal umpire has made his decision . After a goal has been scored get the ball and RUSH it back to the centre, then make for your boundary as quickly as possible . Never kick the ball back to the centre this Is unforgivable . After a behind has been scored run backwards along the boundary line, until you reach the spot from where you will watch the ball being kicked off, then follow the play from there . A planned programme of training is essential for boundary umpires . WARNING Because we have so many new umpires it is a good time to once again advise do not leave any clothes or other valuables in the derssing rooms at Royal Park, Prince's or Albert Park areas, unless the rooms are securely locked . The home club secretary will be only too pleased to place any such valuables in a club safety bag for you .

Sorry to cut you off last week . Snow, but we can't let you ramble on too much. I'm sure readers of the Amateur Footballer would get tired of your bragging every time you have a win if we don't restrict you to some extent . Anyway, Snow told us last week that they'd win again and so they did - read about it in s we wun agen, wacko, that's 3 i n a row, ~and wee's on top now, ony unbeeten side in the seckshun . An' wot's more, wee's gonna' stay tha t way . I can't see anywun tossin us . Wee beet the side that wuz sharrin' th e leed with us larst week - well, not only beet'em - we jest abserlootly licked 'em . Beet'em be 10 goals, an' even if I say so meself, that ain't a bad winnin' margin agenst a top side . Still, I must give it to 'em, they took there defeet reel good, not like the mob the week before, they wuz reel crook on us. We blokes all played well, an' it was a 'ard job narrerin' down the best players ter six, ter put in the Amateur Footy Record . I asked George McTaggarat ter let me put ,ie best players in, but the lousy cow wooden' budge . 'Ez sez "Snow, carn't yer count, it sez 6 best players on the form, an' that's -orl yer can 'ave . " Must tell youse this, now that the umpire shortage seems ter be orl fixed up . The club 'ad me nomernaited as field umpy for the Reserves - imagin that eh! And wouldn't he have bragged if he ha d ever been used in that capacity - Ed .) Marcellin Reserves (2) will use Beverley Hills ground as their home ground from next Saturday, May 18 . LOOKING BAC K By Noel Rundle 5 Years Ago Coburg emerged as clear leaders with an easy 8-goal win against Old Paradians . Best were N . Beattie, L . Beattie and McFarlane (6 gls .) while Gordon, Kiss, and Dowling kept O .P .'s in the game . Closest game for the round was Parkside's 2-point win over St. Patrick's O .C . in 'D' section, 11 .13 to 11 .11, with Stenlake, J . Byrne and Clarke (Parkside) and Colbert, Maher and Thrum (St . Fat's) best players . Milestones - Alan 'Flea' Metcalf (150 games - A .M .P .), Greg Tootell (100 Caul . Gram), Robert Winnacott (100 - Parkside), Jock Sellers (200 - Elsternwick captain and coach) and Terry Eastwood (100 De La Salle captain) .
