Bern ard's, with a big win over University Blues, regained their finals berth. University Blacks were beaten by Coburg but remained in the top bracket and will meet St. Bernard's in the First Semi-final today. St . Bernard's Reserves also sneaked into the four, "pipping" Coburg by a narrow percentage margin . Ormond more than matched Parade Reservoir Old Boys and Caulfield in all departments and finished on Grammarians staged a close game, to score by 31 points . which ended in a draw . Ormond went to a 13-point lead at Reservoir had the better of things half-time after holding Parade to a in the early stages but Caulfield hit point in the second term, and although back with 5 goals late in the second Parade added 6 goals in the third quarter to lead by 5 points at the term, Ormond managed three against interval . the wind and Parade's lead of 2 points Reservoir's inaccuracy in the third at three-quarter time didn't look enquarter left them only 6 points ahead ough . at the last change and, Caulfield went And it wasn't either as Ormond to a 7-point lead shortly before the kicked 5-9 to one goal in the last finish but Reservoir fought back to term . level the scores . The Blacks' failure to make full use Old Carey scored a surprise win of the wind in the second quarter over Old Scotch, who went down by left them trailing Coburg by 4 goals 11 points, and Old Trinity beat Ivanat half-tme . hoe by 13 `points . Kew and Monash Coburg went to an almost unbeatBlues scored comfortably over Melable lead when they kicked 4-6 to 2 bourne High and Power House respecpoints in the third term and started tively and De La Salle beat Collegians the last quarter with a lead of nearly by 3 goals in a real mud battle (5-9 9 goals . i 1 to 2-9) . The Blacks fought back strongly to St . Kilda CBC beat Marcellin by kick 6-3 and held their opponents to 11 points and Assumption had nearly 2 points but they had left their run 6 goals to spare over Uni . High . Old too late and went down by 15 points . Haileybury, Alphington and Parkside Geelong started in great style had easy wins. against North Old Boys and led by 20 points at the interval . North held Marcellin's defeat cost them second Geelong to 1-4 in the second half but place and they will meet St . Old Xaverians' upset win over Old Ivanhoe (by 14 points) enabled them to hold their place in the four and State Savings Bank's 17-goal win over St. Kevin's was to no avail . Brunswick sneaked home by a point from Hampton Rovers, their second win by this margin in three weeks . AMP Society had a narrow escape against Elsternwick, winning by 6 points . In Junior Section games, Coburg beat Monash University by 3 points and North Old Boys scored a shock win of nearly 10 goals over University Blacks in a bid to avoid relegation, but they failed to do so by a margin of less than one per cent . Beverley Hills kicked 32-20 (212 points) against St . Bernard's in a forlon attempt to make the four . In Section 2, Geelong made sure of their place with a big win over Old Paradians, Ivanhoe beat Bulleen-
Templestowe by 20 points and AJAX beat Caulfield- Grammar by a point . It was a great battle for fourth place in A Reserve Section, with St . Bernard's, who trailed Coburg by 1 .3% prior to last week, finishing 1 .4% to the good and knocking Caburg out . Marcellin beat St . Kilda CBC by 21 points, Old Ivanhoe beat Old Xaverians by 8 points and State Bank beat St . Kevin's by 10 points. St . Bede's scored a big win over AJAX to make sure of their place and Monash Whites beat Thornbury by 13 points . Despite the heavy grounds last week, there were 24 century scores recorded and one double century . Seven of the centuries and the "double" were scored in the Juniors, including one by a losing side, and seven came from the Reserves .

CENTURY TO ST. BERNARD'S DEFENDER In today's Semi-final ST . BERNARD'S hal f back IAN HARVEY plays his 100th game for the club . Ian has played mainly as a half back in his games in the seniors but in the Reserves has filled a multitude of positions. This season Harv has really cemented his spot on a half back flank, and his fearless play is always inspirational . His tally of games under normal circumstances would have been far greater than 100, but Ian has always' shown complete devotion to sacrifice all for his University studies, and so often football has had to run second . In fact if Ian had decided to play with a Uni side he may, have played an all time record number of games as he is still a"full-time" student . Congratulations from all Ian, for both your efforts on the field as a great player, and your efforts off the field as a hard working social secretary . Keep the good form going and we all hope that the "Professional Student's" club efforts will be rewarded by you being a member of our first A section premiership .
V .A.F.A . MEETING Club Secretaries and Delegates (Members) are reminded that the next meeting of the Association will be held at the Amateur Sports Club, McKillop Street, Melbourne, at 8 p .m ., on Monday September 2nd. Make sure your club is represented .

LL BRIEFS (IMPORTANT NOTES LEADING GOAL=KICKER S (Goals kicked last Saturday in brackets ) 350 GAMES AT ROVERS Conratulations to VINCE DEVERY wh o has played his 200th and IAN CAVE who will play his 150th game today for HAMPTON ROVERS . Both players started in the juniors and worked their way up to the seniors, playing in three premiership side; . Vince was elected captain of Hampton Scvuts in 1962 and after one season was promot~d to the seniors when the club realicEd his potential . A fine ball getter and a good kick, has enabled Vince to win 3 best and fairest trophies, and off the field he has been just as active, serving on the ccmmittee for a number of years as well as being delegate to the Association . But business commitments have robbed the club of the best of Vince's service on the field and this accounts for the fact that he has played more games than he has attended training nights!! ! Ian played three seasons with the Scouts starting in 1964 and like Vince has been just as active off the field serving on the committee and acting as club secretary . Ian has played most of his senior football of late in the Reserves where his accurate kicking and "freak mark" has been an asset to the side . It is dedication like this that has lifted the club's three sides in to the finals and we at Hampton thank you Ian and Vince and we look forward to your next milestones . 100 UP TO MENTONIAN Everyone at OLD MENTONIANS congratulates ROB JAMISON on playing his 100th game today. 'Jamo' has always been a great help to the coaches with his physical torture tests . He has played great football in every position on the field, a truly great player. 'Jamo' also assists on the social side of the club, and he is quite well known for his ability to play the violin .Congratulations Rob. All BRUNSWICK players and supporters congratulate GEOFF HUGHES who played his 50th game last week . To celebrate the occasion Geoff turned in a dazling display of football . All the best for your next 50 games Geoff . Today the powerhouse of OLD HAILEYBURY'S ruck division JOHN "OCKKA" HOUGHTON reaches his first milestone with the club . A great career - including State representation and a spell with Richmond reserves - his dozen plus marks each Saturday and consistent knockouts are a "joy" to rove to (from this correspondent) . His form of late has picked up after a period in the "Valli" and we are grateful Aussie Rules is not played in South Africa . Great work Ockka and lets see you lead the team to this years "C" grade flag .
