Foster's LagerA symbol of Australia for almost a century . Since the Fosters brothers brewed the first distinctive Australian lager in 1888 the fame of Australia's favourite beer has grown around Australia and around the world. Foster's was first exported to South Africa during the Boer war . Today you can get a Foster's from Baghdad to Bangkok, San Francisco to Singapore . It's by far the biggest selling Australian beer in Britain . One of the top 10 selling imports in the U.S.A. Sold in every Australian state, Foster's outsells every other Australian brand of beer .

Australia's favourite beer.

As President of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, I extend a very warm welcome to Elsternwick Park today to Players, Members and Supporters of the Victorian Football Association, the Monaro (Canberra A .C .T .) Football League, and of course our own V .A .F .A ., for what promises to be an outstanding day's football . The Under 19 and Senior Teams of the V .F .A . and the V .A .F .A . are meeting for the fifth consecutive year and the Monaro League and the V .A .F .A . are meeting for the first time . Congratulations to all players upon their selection, particularly those participating in their first representative game .

There is no doubt that representative matches over the past few years between the senior bodies in Victorian and Interstate Football have contributed significantly to the strength of Australian Football today, although we are all only too aware of the need to ensure that Junior Football is given the encouragement and support it requires if the standards of today are to be maintained in the future .

The Administrators of each of the three Bodies participating in today's matches are firmly committed to the concept of representative football and we trust that such matches will continue to be amongst the highlights of the Season for all concerned .

John Dillon President - V .A .F.A .

VAFA representative teams have enjoyed the comfort of wool for the last two seasons . Players like Ormond's David McDonald seen here in the Woolblendmark jumper worn in the 1985 State Games, and Old B ri ghton's Peter Grant wearing the new Woolblendmark jumper for season 1986, enjoy the feeling of wool eve ry week because Old Brighton is one of a growing number o f VAFA clubs making the change to Woolblendmark jumpers .
