Foster's LagerA symbol of Australia for almost a century . Since the Fosters brothers brewed the first distinctive Australian lager in 1888 the fame of Australia's favourite beer has grown around Australia and around the world . Foster's was first exported to South Africa during the Boer war. Today you can get a Foster's from Baghdad to Bangkok, San Francisco to Singapore . It's by far the biggest selling Australian beer in Britain . One of the top 10 selling imports in the U.S.A. Sold in every Australian state, Foster's outsells every other Australian brand of beer.

Australia's favourite beer.

Collegians have well and truly captured last season's form . Testimony to that is their demolition of Buileen-TemPlestowe last round by 76 points . It was Collegians fifth consecutive win after losing ?heir first three games and they replace Bulleen-Templestowe in second place with the best percentage in the competition . The Lions third quarter was the decisive one - 7 goals and BulleenTemplestowe goalless . Roberts (8) and Bennett (4) were amongst the goals and centre half forward Stepl 3n Bickford was another focal point in the attack . Rick Schober has added a bit of muscle to Collegians at centre half back and Kahn looks a class player . Neither of the Hermans played but then again the Bullants were a little depleted with no Palmer and no Keenan . Laurie Aghan was calm after the match but stressed that they would not fold again in the same manner! Look out for a more determined Bulleen-Templestowe in the future . The biggest surprise was Ivanhoe's 9 goal win over leaders North Old Boys. It didn't look like it at :uarter time with North holding a 5 goal advantage but then came the onslaught . Ivanhoe kicked 12 goals in the second term and held North to 2 points . Boccabella marked strongly for 8 goals, the sought-after rover Peter Adams was excellent, Howard and Loton as usual were fine players but orhaps best on ground was wingman Ted Flynn . Be La Salle have moved to the top of the ladder with their comfortable win over an improved Caulfield Grammarians. The 'usuals' played well for De La Salle -ÂŽeveson (CHB and CHF), Maher nving was from the back pocket and clever half forward Peter Rennie . Phil Kerin was at a wedding and Brian Waldron filled in capably there with 6 goals. Berzins and Nalder between them kicked 9 of Caulfield's 11 goals from the half forward flanks . University Blues! Have I worked them out? I tipped them to lose to Old Scotch and tipped them to beat Ormond - not bad goiong I reckon . No inside information, just hot and cold and a much better side at the University . The Blues seem to have the wood on Ormond . The Blues were always in control in a very tough game and won by 15 points . Isn't veteran Bernie Angel having a fine season, backed up by Tim Carey. R ichard Polkinghorne is playing good football at the moment . And no VAFA epresentative ! F.larcellin overcame a 15 point deficit at half time against Old Scotch to win by 8 points . Their third quarter of 6 goals was the clincher! Young Tony Carafa played for the College on Friday and off the interchange bench on Saturday and was inspiring . The win by the Eagles leaves Old Scotch and Caulfield Grammarians in the danger zone . STUART STOCKDALE'S REVIEW OF MAFL GAM E VAFA vs VFA BY ROSS BOOT H

Footba!l was the winner last Sunday at Elsternwick Park in the 5th annual clash between the VAFA and the VFA . The scoreboard showed a 29 point win to the VFA but it was a heartening performance from an ame teur team that did not give up . It was a very competitive game with both backlines on top, but the VFA had just a bit more up forward . Our backline was led by Andrew Smythe . He was an attacking back pocket who lifted the team late in the game when moved to the centre . Ric Schober gave away inches to Jamie Shaw but to hold him to 4 goals was a pretty good performance . Paul Considine was strong and physiical though he did give us heart failure at tiimes with his use of the ball . The half back line of Fuller, O'Dea and Ryan was a springboard for attack . Regrettably O'Dea was off the ground for some time with a dislocated finger! Did we try and beat them with 17 for a couple of minutes') The centre line was put under great pressure from the running VFA defence . Tregear was on and off th ground but kicked a nice goal in the last term, Nalder was a battler but very tired at the end and Witts was e very competitive on his wing . On the half forward line Cahill started very well but then flashed in and out . On the other flank Herman was very useful but unfortunately was unable to produce the individual brilliance to really lift the side . I had to feel a little sorry for Captain Mick Deveson . He did not stop trying but the breaks did not seem to go his way. Players upfield, under pressure weren't able to deliver the ball well enough and big Brad Nimmo has his measure . Meehan on the ball was excellent . It was a delight to see his use of the fottball Peter Wright has had better days - he just could not seem to hold his marks. But what an opponent! Robert .Evans was superb! Capiron kicked a couple of goals until he too was injured - a 'corked' thigh . Heath battled hard in the ruckk against a very physical Jeff Sarau . I though Nick was a little unlucky not to be on the end of a few more frees! Spillane at times looked very good, especially when accelerating away from the packs! We did not see the best of Adams . He took a nasty knock but will surely simprove . I think he might have been under a lot of pressure on Sunday . Interchange players had a chance to perform . For a forward Berzins played well on the back line and looked good when he went up forward late in the game . Good hands and a beautiful kick! Loton and Taylor tried hard but did not have a big influence on the game . The estimated crowd of about 4,000 enjoyed the game and the VAFA can be proud of the performance of the team on Sunday. . They did their best, but were just not quite classy enough to convert up forward nor physically strong enough to upset the VFA big guns . Well done, I am sure you will do well in Adelaide . B. Smyth Schober Considin e H .B. Fuller O'Dea Ryan C. Tregear Nalder Witts H . F. Cahill Deveson Herman F. Meehan Wright Capiron Rucks : Heath, Spillane, Rover : Adam s Interchange: Berzins, Loton, Taylo r Coach : John Fisher, Captain : Michael Deveson . COMM .BANK STALWART PLAYS 20 0 All at Commonwealth Bank Football Club congratulate Steve `Snow' White on playing his 200th game for the club today . 'Snow' played his first game for the Cobras in 1966 . He is the only current player to have played for the Juniors with the Bank . Steve would have played his 200th game earlier if not for postings interstate and overseas (P.N .G . ) Steve exemplifies the amateur spirit, he is a great

team man . He backs up his team mates on the field and always attends the club's social functions. Steve would be first to admit he does not possess the skills all players would dearly like to have, but he does possess determination which is the envy of greater skilled players . 'Snow' is a life member of the club, an award he truly deserved . Let's hope we can have two wins today to some way make the day a great one for you . Great effort!

Against an undermanned Monaro (ACT) combine the 'CDEFG' Team had little trouble in coasting to a huge victory in the Queen's Birthday curtain raiser. The Amateur side start most impressively with John Meese (Preston MBOB) and David O'Shaughnessy IpTrinity) in fine goal scoring form . Backed up the mid field skills of Vince Scialla (O.Mentonians) and SkipPer Roger Paul (O.Hai!eybury) plus the attacking play of the defence, especially Vice Captain David Gregory (Balaclava) the home team built up a big lead by quarter time . With Stuart Gordon (State Bank) dominatin g the ruck the result was never in doubt and a nine goal third quarter left Monaro rather demoralised . In a side that boasted a number of good players the selectors were unanimous in selecting David Gregory as best afield . The side lined up as follows : B, Gregory Miller Robson Jakoveski Allibon Coffey H.8. C . Sciacca Paul Bell H F. Shand Corbett Fellows F. O'Shaughnessy Meese Sedgwick Rucks : Carboon, Norman . Rover : Wiltshire Interchange : Gerny, Legge, Zani n Coach : Andrew Langford-Jones . Captain : Roger Paul . UNDER 19s GO DOW N The U19 team was well beaten by a more determined and stronger VFA side . Apart from the third quarter our boys were repeatedly second to the ball and the lack of any system up forwrd made goal scoring difficult . The team lined up as follows: B . Oldfield Acreman Gillon H .B. Holt Clark Nash C. Sinni Borton Herman H .F. Comer Bingham Klarica F Taylor Turner Cope Rucks : Gill, Merrett . Rover : Pryor. Interchange: Ward, O'Callaghan, Gollant Coach : Trevor Read . Captain : Dean Comer.

Personality Pars 150 AT THOMASTOWN Congratulations are extended to Stephen Pace for playing his 150th game earlier this year, and apologies for the lateness of its presentation . Stephen has been a valuable forward at the Club leading the goak kicking in 1980 with 102 goals and did very well in the Club voting in 1975, 1979 and 1982 . After three years at Buileen Temp . Stephen has returned to his former Club to help them up the ladder. We are all looking forward to more vintage Pace Play in his future games with us. Well done Pacey.

100 AT OLD GEELONG Congratulations to Geoff Lavender who toda y plays hos 100th game for Old Geelong . Geoff 'started as a fringe player with the reserves some six years ago and has persevered to become a regular member of the firsts over the past three years, to say nothing of having been a great

club man during that time . On a day when the club so badly needs a victory we hope the team will lift sufficiently to make Geoff's 100th a winner. Well done,'Slav' .

110 GAMES TO ST. ANDREWS COME BACK PLAYE R All at St . Andrews would like to congratulate Dougie McDonald on playing his 100th game today. Doug who retired after a bad hand injury after the 1981 season, has chosen to return to the Gold and Blue jumper and in his 3 matches to date has shown glimpses of his old form and ability . With a couple more runs under his belt there is no doubt that Doug will find himself back in the Senior team . Again we wish you many more appearance for St . Andrews .

Peter French Previews Todays Games

r, Arguably the match of the day in A Section will be played at Ivanhoe between the home side and Uni Blues. Both sides are on 16 points, are separated by just 1 percentage point and more importantly with Or . mond are only a game out of the four . It's hard to know whether rival coaches Alan Salter (I) and Rok--rt Lamb (B) will have appreciated the weeks break or not, as both sides had great wins before against North OB and Ormond respectively . It was strogly rumoured at Elsternwick Park on Sunday that Michael will be back today and if this is so his on field presence will be a great boost to the 'students', who willYeo match the Hoe in big man strength . Much will depend on whether Polkinghorne, Gust and Allen get first use of the ball, a doubtful prospect to me on the tight Boulevard Oval . I've a hunch the 'Hoe turned the corner last round and I'm sticking to them despite the probable loss of Peter Adams . The other big game in A Section is at Timber Ridge between Bulleen-Temp . and De La Salle. It's fourth versus first and the bullants know a loss could see it slip out of the four as Ormond at home will devour Old Scotch . Bulleen-Temp . were frightful against Collegians the Lions would humiliate most sides at the moment so I'm putting that loss down to 'just one of thosebut days' . Keenans return will certainly life the locals, but I'm not convinced that they are as even as De La S c : le who know how to win the important games . Make no mistake, Bulleen-Temp . will be really fired up for this one, but De La's consistency will see them home . At the Trott where Collegians meet Marcellin the only question I have is can the lions win another game by 100 points? Their form is red hot at present, their team work excellent and use of the ball crisp and precise Marcellin just has not got the experience or concentration to 'man up' the Lions prime moves and . Collegia ; is will win and add to an already impressive percentage . Poor old Caulfield take on North and Bruns and will find their hosts in a particularly nasty mood . Nor~h has lost its last two games and are sure to take it out on Caulfield today . North by a mile and as previously indicated Ormond at home and boosted by the return of Skipper Russel Barnes and the knowledge that victory will see it return to the four are odds on against a struggling Old Scotch .

Personality Par s COLLEGIANS SUPERRULES REPORT Peter Bedford was the star of Collegians' first

win this year in Superrules . Showing all the attributes that won him the 1970 Bronlow, Peter was dominant in the Centre and around the ground . Glen Cook (Ruck) gave Collegians first use of the ball all day and Bedford combining will with Bill Griffith and Phil Grant (Ruck Rovers), Jim Bonowick and Terry Smith (Rovers), continually put Collegians into attack where John Moodie Full Forward) capitalised with three gooals in the first quarter. When the Churches tried to advance, they were met with solid opposition led by Dave Montgomery (Full Back), John Kerr (Back Pocket) and Ric Burlock (Half Back Flank) . The win leaves Collegians just out of the Four with a better percentage and win this Sunday against top side Diamond Valley and other results going their way, could see Collegians in the Four. Diamond Valley who are undefeated and keen to stay that way and Collegians enthusiastic after such a good win and the return of several top players including Peter Keenan and Peter Mason should provide a high standard this Sunday with many thrills. The game starts aat 2.15 p.m . at the Harry Trott and everyone is welcome to the game and after match entertainment . More players are required and can contact Lindsay Richards H 842 266 1 Chris Roach W 584 2753 . Final Scores : Collegians 15.24 .114 Eastern Suburbs Churches 6.3.39 Best Players: Bedford, Smioth, Griffith, Cook, Montgomery, Grant . TON TO AL PAL This week sees Old Haileyburians' AI Stuart play his 100th game for the Club . Stewie joined the Blodds in 1979 and had a major role to play in the following years junior premiership team . Since then his hustle, pace, strength and vigour have been put to good use, especially on the half-back flank and wing . This year he achieved even greater fame with his recovery from near-hospitalization with a dislocated finger . He is n!ine for quote of the year with "I'll give you a stretcher" ! One of the club's social giants "AL PAL" is also a well-known Long Room Veteran, having achieved a degree of notoriety for the way he looks after his female guests. That dark moustache is often seen to bristle after a round or two at the G, and the Qantas executive can be dangerously mischievous after-hours . Melbourne has a!ot to look out for with Al's return from Sleepy Hollow . Well done Al on the big ton - let's see that sturdy frame rushing up and down the firld for a few more games yet ! After three straight losses Whitefriars Coach W.~f Keane beliieved his talented young side needed more experience . He talked their ageing Club President out of retirement for his first game last Saturday. Chris didn't get many kicks but he certainly lifted the average age of the side . Bill Denton, Old Xaverians 1985 Captain surprised not only the Denton family, but his team mates with his announcement of his engagement to Phillipa Dwyer last weekend . The Club was still recovering from Tory Ongarello's engagement to Tracey Sheffield . Spring is supposed to be the time for these important decisions . Old Xaverian supporters wish the two couples every best wish for their future.

Our phone is far too busy from 4 .45 p .m . till 9 p .m . to be able to give these scores - very often we haven't even got them - and any request will in future be turned down . There are several ways of obtaining scores of other games in your section - from Radio Statons 3DB, 3AW and 3LO, or by phoning the other grounds . GEORGE McTAGGART Press Correspondent .

Person 100 GAMES TO A .N .Z . TREASURE R All at ANZ Bank congratulate Michael Farrell on playing his 100th game today against UHSOB . Michael has battled very hard since 1980 when he joined the Club to reach this milestone and his football skills have certainly improved . Michael started his career on the wing but is now playing in the back pocket where his pace and straight ahead style has repelled many an attack . He has served with distinction on our Social Committee for many years, is popular with his teammates, culminating in winning our Best Clubman Award in 1984. Well done "Moto" keep battling and we hope the guys can reward you for your effoorts by scoring another good win today, and let hope you're around long enough to make it to the big 200 . 50 TO FA B Congratulations are extended to 'Fabulous' Phil Russell for lining up for his 50th game against Uni Blues today. Phil has been with the Club for seven years forcing his way from the Under 19s to become a regular senior member . Phil's popularity and dedication to the Club are well respected by his teammates and club supporters. All at Ivanhoe hope to have Phil around for at least another seven years . TWO FOR ON E The players and committee at Ivanhoe wish to extend special thanks to first year player Colin Rose. Colin, who was due to play his first senior game against North Old Boys last week arrived to the game early only to find the reserves short on players . Colin's flexibility and dedication to the Club will certainly assist the `Hoes in the coming weeks searching for a rosey future . ST. LEONARDS - REPCO BEST Round 7 versus Uni High Seniors - P. Pars 50 GAMES TO A .N .Z . STRONGMA N ANZ today congratulate Steve Hewitt on playing his 50th game for us . "Hewey" who joined the club during season '83 is a lion hearted ruckman in the seconds who never gives up and is an inspiration to his younger teammates with his never say die attitude . "Steve's" career with is culminated in 1984 when he won the Seconds Best and Fairest . Off the field he is a humourist, is popular with everyone, but perhaps his biggest claim to fame is his running battle with "Tommy" each year as to who will wear the "brightest pair of pants" on the Footy trip. Well done mate, look forward to seeing you play many more games for the Zedders . TRUE AMATEUR SPIRI T All at ANZ Bank would like to thank Jenny and Gary Norton and Ron Bungey for dropping in for a drink after their game last week . Gary and Ron have made many battle with us over the years and it was great to see them under different circumstances . We believe their effort typifies what Amateur Football is all about . Good luck to them and Mentone for the rest of 86 . TON UP FOR AUST Y Peter Austerberry plays his 100th game against Monash today, and everyone at Balaclava feels confident that Peter will play his usual solid game in whatever position he is chosen to play. Peter is a very versatile player with many more senior games to his credit that reserves games, his experience and encouragement in the reserves so far this year has helped Balaclava maintain its top position on the ladder. A utility player with many skills, Peter has proven devastating in attack, and a blanket in defence who lets nothing past. Congratulations on your performances so far, and good luck today and for the rest of the year Spook, you're a bit of a legend around the place - keep it up!!!

Personality Pars MILESTONES ABUNDANT AT NORT H The last few weeks have seen several milestones reached at the North Old Boys A .F.C. Fifty games have been reached by Mick Devine, Gerard Brown and David Sharpe today. Mick Devine and Dave Sharpe have worked their way up from the Under 19s whilst Gerard B ro wn was recruited from West Coburg . Congratulations to all concerned . Chris Hibbe rt recently played his 100th game against Ivanhoe . Chris is probably known as one of the most determined players in A Grade Amateurs and after a severe leg injury in 1984 he retired and concentrated on coaching the Club's U19 side in 1985 with great distinction . However you can't keep a good man down and back he came to reach this important milestone. Unfortunately Chris has had to retire once again due to the extreme pain endured in his leg after each game, we salute his great achievement. Today against Caulfield Grammarians two players reach important milestone, Paul Considine plays his 150th and Gary "Darkie" Wilson plays his 200th . Both players have represented the V.A .F.A . with distinction and have experience the

sweet success of playing in an "A" Grade Premiership, Gary in 1976 and Paul in 1982. The big frame of Paul Considine has carried many a day for ;]orth Old Boys and after wining the Clubs Best and Fairest in 1985 he has displayed great consistency once again in 1986 and is well on his way again . Paul commenced his career in 1978 in which year he stamped himself as a future star with a brilliant performance in that sides Premiership win . Well done Cono ! "Darkie" Wilson commenced his career in 1971 and apart from a three year break in the early eighties, has been a live-wire of the club . He joins an elite band of players who have played 200 or more games with the Club . Most of his career has been spent in the Firsts where in the seventies he was known for his brilliant roving and wing play . He was a regular State player and played in four successive A Grade Grand Finals 1975 - 1978 . These days he is content in helping out the Two's and displays the old magic now and again . Well done Darkie on a fine achievement .

TWO MILESTONES AT U .H .S . On Saturday June 14th, Mark "Chooka" Rennick and David "Fatty" Wallace play their 100th and 50th game respectively. When "Chooka" takes the field against ANZ Bank it just proves that 9 years of dedicated training can amount to something of substance. Many knowledgeable readers will be surprised also to hear that today's game is his 8th in a row : what dedication!! Over the years "Chooka" has developed his game to such an extent that his famous torpedo handball is now registering as an actual statistic . All at Uni High hope that "Chooka" continues on into the second half of the season . "Fatty" continues to amaze with his skills on and off the field . He is actually going to dance at the annual bush dance on the 21st June : we hear. Uni High's Jacko is also finding the big sticks this year . This is a result of his policy of handballing in the back!ine and only to himself in the forwardline . David who started with UHS in 1983 continues to do the job in the seniors that we all expect of a top-class, gutsy rover. Well done. The committee and players wish Mark and David all the best for the day and know we will see them around for many seasons. 150 UP AT BALACLAVA Everyone at Balaclava congratulates Bernie Drinan on playing his 150th game for the club recently. Bernie has been a good worker on and off the field for many years now, and to play 150 games for any club is a truly great effort. Bernie has playe d

When UNIVERSITY BLUES Bernie Angel takes the field today at Ivanhoe it will be for his 200th Amateur game, he joined the Blues at the start of the 1983 season after a distinguished career with St . Bernard's O.C. commencing with the Juniors in 1972 he quickly advanced to the Seniors where he established a reputation both for ski!l and consistency, for despite his light build he rarely missed a game, his determination and dedication were rewarded in 1980 when he was awarded the Fairest and Best trophy in (A) Section, this was after a three year break from the V.A .F.A. Bernie has continued to p roduce top class football since coming to the Blues, after only 10 games in 1984, he was voted 3rd in the Club F & B behind Mike Yeo and Mark Tyquin, besides being a very valued player Bernie and his wife Maureen and their two girls are among the nicest people around the university where we are proud to have them as friends and trust that they will be around for many more happy times .
