Foster's LagerA symbol of Australia for almost a century. Since the Fosters brothers brewed the first distinctive Australian lager in 1888 the fame of Australia's favourite beer has grown around Australia and around the world . Foster's was first exported to South Africa during the Boer war . Today you can get a Foster's from Baghdad to Bangkok, San Francisco to Singapore . It's by far the biggest selling Australian beer in Britain . One of the top 10 selling imports in the U.S .A. Sold in every Australian state, Foster's outsells every other Australian brand of beer .
Australia's favourite beer.
On behalf of the Executive Committee and Members of the V .A .F .A . I wish to congratulate John Fisher, Brian Bourke, Dominic Spillane and all players, selectors and members of the Support Staff, upon Victoria's magnificent Carnival win in Adelaide last Saturday week . The V .A .F .A . was certainly faced with a huge challenge in 1986, having lost the 1985 Carnival to South Australia on its home ground at Elsternwick Park . Despite the almost daily reports of injury to essential players and despite the unavailability of a number of other players due to mid-year examinations, the selectors at no time faltered in their determination to produce a succesful side with a decided accent on youth . Their confidence was at no time misplaced and the performance of the Victorians in the game against Western Australia and Tasmania was certainly heartening . Nevertheless, the real test was of course the final game of the Carnival against South Australia and the Victorian side on that day was a team in every sense of the word . We are certainly very proud of the performance of the Victorian players both on and off the filed, and I am sure that all players will recall for many years to come the success which deservedly came their way in Adelaide in 1986 . Congratulations to Dominic Spillane (Captain) and the other eight members of the Victorian team' who were selected in the All Australian Amateur side, a truly memorable achievement for all concerned . To all players who have now returned to their respective Clubs in preparation for the finals, I extend to them our sincere thanks and best wishes for their future football careers . May I in conclusion offer a special thanks to John Fisher for his remarkable coaching performance . John has been most concerned to ensure that the glory of that great win has been attributed to the playersand notto himself . Howeverthere is no doubt in the minds of all playersand officials concerned thatwithoutthe intensive training, devotion to dutyand the great example of oneJ . Fisher, the Carnival result may well have been quite different . JOHN DILLON President
MHSOB AND "ORCH " MHSOB an ORCH (Tony Orchard) are synonomous with Amateur Football particularly around the old Forest Hill school . While it is appreciated every club has a committee person who seems to be able to do everything, Orch's efforts last Sautrday against Kew are worth noting . After doing all the normal team managers things before the reserves game the coach asked him if he could fill a place in the team as he was short of players . Orch agreed, as any dedicated clubman would, even though he hadn't trained or played for over three years . To mark his comeback Tony
kicked four goals and was in the best players in a winning team, a tremendous effort on a very wet, cold and muddy day . After trudging off the ground covered in mud, he then ensured that all the seniors wants were attended to and one would imagine then jumped into a hot shower with his team mates . Not so . This dedicated, enthusiastic and tremendously loyal clubman, known to all as ORCH, donned the white shirt, grabbed a whistle and ran the boundary for the senior match . A tremendous effort Tony, much appreciated by all your club mates - pity there weren't more of you to go round .

A reasonable summing up after Round 12 of Amateur Football ? Ormond's ability to come to grips with the deliver theknockout blow . DeLahadfarmoreof heavy conditions at Elsternwick Park plus the the play but was unable to convert and wasted fact that they played in front and were more many opportunities . The BLues actually hit the often than not first to the ball were prime factors front early in the last term which then stirred the in their 38 point win over Bulleen-Templestowe . home side into action . However I musn't be too It was also noticeable that Ormond's interstate critical of either side as conditions were obviouly players Phil Mehrten, Phil Kingston and Russell against good football, a fact which doesn't bother BarnesbroughttheirAdelaideformhomewhereas Collegians who have the decided advantage of Tony Keenan and Mal Palmer had little influence playing on the Harry Trott . on the game, although skipper Shane Gilmore Collegians took a half to move into top gear was solid enough . It was an interesting game against a determined Old Scotch, who had as and if Bullants Shane Farley and Geoff Miles much of the play but could not kick goals . Bullant coach Laurie Aghan It's going to take a big effort from all at Swan was rightly disappointed after the game with the Street if the Cardinals are to wear the A section performance of some of his better known players tag in 1987 , and I wonder what Shane Gilmore had to say as he addressed his team for some minutes, on the There were smiles a plenty after Caulfield arena, at the end of the match? In what some people are already describing as a preview of the A Section Grand Final I'm confident ihat Ormond can beat Collegians in todays A Section match of the day. Ormond are still smarting over tiieir 8 point loss to the Lions in Round 5 which saw them surrender a 6 goal lead mid way through the third term . That win was Collegians second for the year at that stage and has proven to be the springboard for its marvellous run since . I believe Ormond will win as they'll be better At the bottom of the ladder Marcellin has a prepared - mentally - to use a modern footbal I faint chance of catching up to Caulfield and expression for more motivated . They have an Ivanhoe .TheyarefortunatetobemeetingCaulfield excellent on field leader in Russell Barnes who at Bulleen where the ground is very heavy and is a wonderful club player and most capable of in deep contrast to Oval 3 where the 'Fields keeping either Herman Wolff and if needs be, train . The big problem for Marcellin isthatthey've Roberts right out of the game, although that task forgotten how to win whereas Caulfield have put dill initially fall to Martin Crampton who is having 2 good winstogetherand are playing with enough a splendid season . One can imagine both Barnes confidence to make it three and thus leave and Crampton preparing themselves for this relegation behind them . encounter from about 6 PM last week! However football games are won on fields as well and the I n other gamesOld Scotch who are in as much Lions deserve their current rating as premiership trouble as Marcellin and who have not beaten favourites and competition leaders. In Newman, De La since Tony O'Callaghan was playing (well Wright, Richard Schober and Stuart Hinchen it's nearly that long ago) are unlikely and at theyhave a hard hitting, attacking and underrated present incapable of upsetting that record an d ' defence and they can be expected to watch Bulleen-Templestowe are sure to bounce bac k Messrs . Both defences can be expected to play a kneerecontructiontothelikeab!eTonyBalcombe . With Phil Mehrten alongside him and Ormond's answer to Bertie DepierdomB SECTIO N enico, Geoff Russell, this trio will set up many attacking moves for the visitors . The Ormond St. Kilda CBOC face a do or die struggle brains trust, coach Mike McArthur-Allen, Andrew against Old Paradians . Rover Andy Mehrtenn is having a fine for the Saints . season and although I've regard for Keith Parson's Uni Blacks will consolidate its position in the roving skills, I believe the Ormond man issteadier top four by beating old rivals Old Melburnians and certainly newcomer Joey Young is a most whose 1 goal effort last week was unbelievable . capable backup and is dangerous around goals . As the Reserves could also manage just the one Make no mistake this will be a great game and I major the O .M .'s probably rewrote the Club's bet Ormond will enjoy playing on a hard surface proud history with a worst ever performance . for a change ! No doubt coach Andrew Ristrom will have had Northfacessomething ofadangergameagainst plenty to say this week but even a Ristrom Uni Blues, but I'm of the opinion that last week's address will be enough to lift the "Dark Blue loss will have taken the wind out of the Blues Twenty" to a form reversal and upset win . sails and they must now be content with finishFawkner at home will beat St. Bernard's who ing as the best side out of the four . to Parkside (they led by 5 goals at half time) will undoubtedly return to the winning list against Old Brighton . The Xavs will no doubt remember it was Old Brighton who halted theirwinning run back on May 10th and at home should win well . In the remaining game, Therry journey to Parkside where they will no doubt give a good account of themselves . This will be the closest game of the round and in an upset I'm going for Therry . -- t C SECTIO N C Section has sorted itself out of late with Old Haileybury falling by the wayside . Kew has been the surprise and it will no doubt build on its percentage with a big win over Old Camberwell at Gordon Barnard this afternoon . The A .J .A.X . - Old Trinity game is bound to draw a big crowd and will also produce some great football . It will be Trinity's second main event in as many weeks and I think they can continue with their return to top form as their excellent win over Thomastown last week suggests they've again found . I n addition A .J .A .X . will be quite delighted that I've gone against them .
Banyule realize they must keep winning to stay with the leaders and with that squarely in mind I can't see St . Kevin's causing them any trouble . Of the top 4 Thomastown has the hardest game which fortunately for them is at home . When they last met Hampton Rovers, the Bears were lucky to come away with the points and where 1 realize 'Town have picked up since then, so too have the Rovers . Incentive will decide this game and as Hampton Rovers are now safe from relegation and be lining up for their umpteenth season in C Sect i o n, Th omastown will win knowing that if A .J .A .X . beat Old Trinity they will take over second spot . In the remaining game two disappointing sides Melbourne High and Old Haileybury clash at the High School . The home side has been struggling whilst Haileybury, forwhom the picture looked so bright at the end of June, have simply cometoa stand stillandasboth sidesaredesperate for a win this could turn out to be a very tight game . As Haileybury still has the faintest of hopes of playing in the finals they may just find enough to nip the High School, but it's certainly not a confident selection !

D SECTIO N Because the four leading sides all had good wins last week, the gap between them and the other sides was further widened . There were only two close matches in which Old Mentonians and leaders Monash Blues had eleven and eight point victories repectively . The other victors were Preston, Balaclava and Old Ivanhoe . E SECTIO N Leaders Bulleen United with a big win overfourth placed Elsternwick kepttheir unblemished record . St . Bede's with a win over Clayton can now aspire to tip Elsternwick from the top four . Lowly Williamstown acquitted themselves well at Mt . Eliza where Peninsula only won by two goals . Other winners were Brunswick and State Bank . F SECTIO N Congratulations to St . Leonard's on their first V .A .F .A . victory . They defeated the hapless Footscray Tech . Leaders Old Essendon had a narrow escape against Doveton while the other leaders U .H .S .O .E ., St . Andrew's and Whitefriars had big wins over LaTrobe, Commonwealth Bank and A .N .Z . Bank respectively .
JUNIOR 1 1.1Vhat an interesting ladder this section presents! Bulleen -Tempiestowe by defeating La Salle i ave moved to second place . Old Xaverians and M .H .S .O.B . following big wins against OldDe Scotch and Boys respectively North Old have pushed De La Salle almost out of the top four . JUNIOR 3 A depleted C .B .C . St. Kilda made the long bus journey to Bundoora where they went down by seventy-seven points against the Old Paradians . Ivanhoe, following their big win over Old Camberwell loom as the greatest threat to Old Paradians and C.B .C . St. Kilda meeting again in the Grand Final on September 13 . PREVIEW OF ROUND 1 3 D SECTIO N West Brunswick, desperate to avoid relegation await Balaclava who will encounter d iff iculty with the small Ransford Oval . Nevertheless, Balaclava should win . Cpburg travel to Power House who seem E bound for the first time in 40 years . The 'Burgers should win well . Old Ivanhoe, at home to Old Mentonians, will want to win to keep their finals hopes alive . Despite this, I select Old Ilfentonians . Monash Blues will not let the disappointing North Brunswickcostthemtopposition and the'Bluesshould win convincingly . Preston are at home to Heatherton who have not lived up to expectations over recent weeks . At home I can select Preston with confidence . E SECTIO N Brunswick will not stop Bulleen United's unbeaten run despite their home ground advantage . If Elsternwick hop to be a finalist, they must win today . Home ground advantage on their small ground should see the 'Wicks home against Clayton . St. Bede's who can sense a final's appearance will prove too strong at home for Old Geelong . In the game of the round at Elsternwick Park I select Peninsula to win over State Bank, whose form away from home has often been very poor . When did State Bank last play on this ground? (Pre World War II against Elsternwick would be my tip) . Williamstown with a victory on Sunday over University Reds could save themselves from relegation . I'll go for the Seagulls . F SECTIO N A close match should result from the meeting of A .N .Z. Bank and F.I .T .O .B . At Oval 15 I select the Bankers . St . Leonard's, flushed with their initial victory, should continue their winning sequence by accounting for Commonwealth Bank today . I cannot see Doveton taking the points from St . Andrew's today. As the saints are still seeking the double chance, they will be seeking a big win . Current top sides Whitefriars and University High Old Boyswi I I meetat Donvale . Home conditions will favour Whitefriars who I believe will win narrowly .
G SECTIO N Monash Whites will be too strong for Eltham College at Clayton, while Parkside will win at Williamstown and at Bulleen, Old Carey will be too fit for Channel 9. JUNIOR 1 University Blues should be too strong for Banyule. Leaders Ormond should easilyaccount for Old Scotch who are relegation candidates . Top sides Old Xaverians and De La Salle meet at Yarra Park . The sides are very evenly matched and the result will be close . The Xaverians are my selection . In another cut throat game at Bulleen-Templestowe I favour the home side to win against Melbourne High . Marcellin will stay in touch with the leading bracket by defeating North Old Boys . JUNIOR 2 Relegation candidates Thomastown and Old Brighton meet at Brighton Beach . At home the Grammarians will be successful . Leaders, Collegians will be too strong forTherry, while St . Bernard's will be too talented for the Blacks at Crawford Oval (Sorry Brendan!) The main game in this section should result in an Old Melburnian victory against Old Haileybury who will be in strange surroundings on the big Cordner Oval , JUNIOR 3 Caulfield Grammar at home will be too talented for Old Camberwell . St . Kilda will blunce back today by defeating Hampton Rovers . A Williamstown victory against Monash Blues could see them just outside the four on percentage . At home Williamstown will win . The principal game will be at Ivanhoe where Old Paradians are the visitors . Paradians won well last week because of all round strength and skill . Traditionally Parade sides perform poorlyatlvanhoe where the surface is often heavy. Ivanhoe will be highly motivated whereasParadianswerebuiltupbyCoachDoherty for last week's match . To dare is to win - after a lot of thought, Ivanhoe is my selection .
MANAGER'S COMMENT 17th AAFC CARNIVAL G SECTION Thomas, Lew Arnold, Ken Evan-Smith and Rex Doran, In the battle for fifth place Eltham defeated Williamstown while Monash Whites maintained section Splendid behaviour of Team on and off the field The assistance of the members of Old Scotch [South leadership by defeating GTV-9. t "reels great to give someone a handpass that su!ts in a goal . It is terrific to snap an angled goa l or drwa one through the big sticks from a long way out. i; is great to play in a tight game, to pit your body and mind against formidable opposition and hopefully come out a winner. It is terrific to share the sweat and toil with some good men and come out a winner. It is good to have the anticipation of a game and to respect your opponent and the opposition . it is great to throw a good block on the opposition so that your teammate can run clear and dispose accurately. It is just great to play the game. With kind permission from Tony Greenberg, Editor of " Inside Football" OTF is delighted to bring readers the first of two articles by Barry Richardson on Amateur Football . Barry isawee kly contributor to "Inside Football" and was, along with Andrew Birrell, physiotherapist to the VAFA this season . The first article appeared on May 29th under the heading "Amateurs Enthuse" .
It is now 12 years since I played my last VFL game. That last game was the 1974 Grand Final, Richmond versus North, and there have been many changes in football since then . When one finishes playing, a few things can happen . You can either cut the ties with VFL football and play or coach elsewhere, just maintaining a cursory interest in the VFL . You can go on to coach at VFL level ; first, seconds or thirds . You can become a skills coach, one of those stepping-stone positions that clubs offer usually to players who have a record of loyalty. You can get involved in club administration, though this is a 'tack that not many players take. You can get involved on match committees or the more commonly termed selection committees, or perhaps act as a recruiting agent . I reckon that in the quest to stay involved in a sport that I loved to play, I have just about done them all! I have coached reserves and seniors, been chairman of selectors, been club physiotherapist, been club president and have lectured far and wide on football and also football injuries . The raw facts of the matter are that even though a lot of these activities can give great satisfaction at times [and depression at others], we never really capture the enjoyment that playing can give us . Happily, I think that the era that I played in, from 1965 to 1974, was an era not contaminated by the pursuit of the dollar, and the major motivator was to play the game for the enjoyment, for the mateship and to win . The money was handy to a country kid trying to get through university, but once that was achieved it really was secondary as a reason to play . I am trying again to get back to the grass roots of football, this time in a slightly different way. I am sharing the role of physiotherapist to the Victorian Amateur state team with Physiotherapist Andrew Birrell and I am looking forward to the rold . My first night at training reinforced a long time belief, namely that there is something really good about the amateur philosophy.
The training rooms at Elsternwick Park may not be as palatial as League clubs [even Richmond's at Punt Road looks downright luxurious in comparison!] . There are not the same numbers of people fussing around after the players' needs, but there is a pleasant intangible atmosphere pervading the place that I think I have been searching for for a while ; maybe since 1974. There are no backslappers of autograph hunters [either adult or child], but merely a group of players with a couple of coaches who seem pleased to be chosen in the squad to represent Victoria and seem pleased to be training for a common cause . The first training session run by coach John Fisher was quite hard [Fisher is an ex-Kennedy commando, when Kanga was at Hawthorn] . Fisher has that same earnest blue-eyed stare that typified Kennedy's mob at Glenferrie in the days of such worthys and Normy Bussell, Ian Bremner, Mike Porter, Don Scott, Bob Keddie and Co . David Parkin was also of that same mould in that he was very fair dinkum about his footy. Fisher too is very serious about it and so too are the amateur players . They look pretty young and fish-faced, but their training session was good and very similar to a League session -certainly in effort .
Personafity Pars "TAILS" TOPS TWO HUNDRED GA M ES Neville Taylor today plays his 200th game for St . Andrews. "Tails" who is only 21 years of age last year became only the third footballer in the history of St . Andrews to kick the "Ton" in a season, and a few seasons ago won the reserves best and fairest trophy whilst still playing under age football as well . Neville has played continually for St . Andrews since U/11 and certainly has the potential to play a new club record number of games within the next few years . Congratulations Neville from all at St . Andrews. A professional goal sneak, Neville hardly ever ends a game without a bag full of goals. All at St . Andrews would like to congratulate Robert Beard who finally played his 50th game last Saturday . "Bob" who has played matches over many seasons was a late inclusion into the team and had a significant bearing on the team's 11 point win . If Bob ever decided to play every week we have no doubt he would bring up yet another milestone in a few years . ST LEONARDS : REPCO AUTO PARTS [VICj

BEAUREPAIRES FOR TYRES The skills are not as well honed and there were a few foot and hand passes that went astray, but one gets the feeling that they will work on that aspect before the game against the VFAC in a couple of weeks and the state carnival later in June. There is a pride in performance there that acts as a strong motivation, as well as a selection committee to impress and the sharing of a common goal with the guys they are training with . That seems to be plenty to stimulate maximum effort. The very best part about football is the fun of playin it . I feels good to take a strong mark in front of the pack or a "screamer" from behind .
The amateurs play out of their own pockets for the privilege to compete and I admire them for it . I also admire those people in honorary positions, from president Jack Dillon down to all those people who act as officials and trainers . Those people, like me, would rather by playing, I guess, but there is a spirit and a quiet appreciation afforded them that makes participation worthwhile . I hope I can contribute something to the amateur cause, small though it may be . I have a feeling that this code of football for football's sake will give something to me - perhaps something I have been missing for too long .
Best on ground award : Round 12 vs F.I .T.O.B . Seniors: John Wallac e Reserves : Scott Fletcher, Rod Goodma n St. Leonards and Repco, together in Amateur Football .
3 TONS AT THOMASTOW N On 12th July, two players in the reserves team, Ken Chandler and Craig Coonan, played their 100 games . Ken has always given good service each Saturday as he is a steady reliable centre half back for the club . Craig, who returned to the club a few weeks ago, is a small player who can contribute well . Well done fellas and keep up the good work . Colin Pearson completed his 100th game also in the Seniors . He is a sturdy 6 footer who is superbly fit and dies well when playing in the ruck . He is a very valuable clubman who gives his utmost for the team . Colin always does the hard things in football which are rarely noticed . Keep it going C.P.!!! THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - 1986
TWO MILESTONES AT WEST BRUNSWICK The committee, players and supporters would lik e to congratulate Dean Lampard on reaching his 100th game today against Balaclava . Dean's football relies on determination, desperation, dedication, dilligence and domination and always gets any ball he sets his sights on . In years gone past, "Lampy" was overshadowed by his big brother on the football field but through hard work and keeping his nose to the grindstone, has improved his skills a great deal and now forms a major contributor to our team each week . Dean is also the only player at West Brunswick to have been listed as playing his 100 game twice in one year due to a miscalculation of the facts a couple of weeks ago . Well done Lampy, and lets hope we see you around for many years to come. Alan Smith also plays his 100th game today against Balaclava. Alan won our leading goalkicker award with 74 goals last year and the club and team have missed his fine marking skills and "big bombs" through the goals this year due to a knee injury. Alan has played all of his football as a key position player either centre half back or centre half forward and let's hope Al that you can get back in business again . On behalf of the club, thanks for 100 great games and hopefully there will be many more games in those legs .
50 GA M ES AT ELSTERNWIC K Congratulations from all at Elsternwick to Denny Contin who plays his 50th game today. Denny started with the club in 1984 as a young player struggling for a game in the reserves . He improved rapidly throughout the year playing a couple of senior games and winning the trophy for Most Improved . In 1985 he played every game in the seniors, mostly at centre half back, and established himself as a strong, straight ahead player who kicked the ball a mile [kilometre?] . In 1986 he was appointed club vice captain and continued to set a high standard on the field . A good club man and an ornament to the game, we hope to have Denny Conlin at Elsternwick for many years to come. 9

David is a true living legend at Old Trinity, however his choice of dinner partners at a Pdetung Restaurant during last year's trip could be questioned . We wish David the best of luck in his search for his second 100 in one year.
MILESTONE FOR BULLEEN UNITED COACH It does not happen often that a coach racks up 5 0 games with a club, but "Field marshall" Max McColl has joined an elite band at Bulleen United, returning to the Bulls after coaching South East Suburban Combined Side. Max coached us in 1978 and 1979, and would probably have something like 400 games under his belt . This has obviously assisted him in getting the "Boyze" to all pull in the one direction this year . Keep up the fine work which our position on the ladder indicates.
OLD XAVERIAN S On the field The Old Xaverians are sometimes hard to follow. Off the field this season they have been more predictable. Last Saturday Roger Franich announced his engagement to Kate Booth . Roger has been a supporter since he finished his playing days . Many amateur supporters will remember him as out fullback over eight seasons. Roger joins the growing list of Old Xavs engagements this season and once again we wish the couple all the best .
50 GAMES AT OLD PARADIAN S All at Old Paradians congratulate Tim Coward Nelson on playing his 50th game on 19th July, 1986, against St . Kilda CBOC . Tim who commenced playing with the Under 19's of our club, had one season with Fitzroy Football Club, before returning to our club again playing for the lastthree seasons . He has been as late starter during the last two seasons, due to commitments in athletics, which resulted in him not reaching this milestone earlier. We wish Tim the best of luck for the rest of this season, and for the many more seasons to come at our club .

Personality Par s 200th GAME UP FOR "MACCA" Congratulations from all at Balaclava to Ian M cLeod who will be playing his 200th game for the club against West Brunswick today. Macca has been a part of the club for many seasons now, and has seen the club undergo many transitions over the years . He has stuck with the club and has proven a very valuable player in many teams, both seniors and reserves . Ian's loyalty to the club has seen him play in senior and reserve grade finals, as well as sticking to the club through periods of relegation . His ability to win the hard ball, mainly as a utility player, has been appreciated by many of his tam mates on the field and rewarded by a reserve grade best and fairest trophy . He usually features in the voting in both seniors and reserves, and the many games he has played in the seniors over the years have probably cost him a couple of other reserve grade best and fairest trophies . Ian has served the club as vice president, and in various leadership capacities with the reserves . Ian has been an integral part of the reserve's success so far this year, and is currently that team's vice captain . Ian has been known to enjoy the odd trip away with the club, and at one stage broke his service at the club with a stint in South America, a multicultural experience from which he learnt a great deal . Macca is also accredited with introducing a certain red headed character to the club, who has certainly made an impression over the past few years . Macca and his charming wife Sue have been worthwhile contributors to the club in the past, and we hope they'll be around for a long while yet . Well done Macca!!
SAINTS DO IT ON THE DOUBL E For a betting man, the odds would have been irresistable. St . Leonards, on the bottom, to beat Fredd;'s Footscray mob . And what a payout it would have been . The Saints got the double!! ! New club St . Leonards broke the ice with it's first win in the Amateurs . A very young side, mostly old boys, the Saints have the added difficulty of not having training lights and having to train at the Chelsea ground down the road after their boys have finished . After a few close losses [and some not so close] the team broke through against FI .TO.B. The seniors first win and the seconds second [they beat F.I .TO.B . first time round] , Congratulations to all the boys who stuck through the hard start to be here now and see victory . And watch out you other clubs, the Saints are on the hop . Well done boys, and well done Johnny, the coach, who donned a jumper on Saturday to lead by example . Even though you did kick 1 .7.
50 GAMES AT OLD BRIGHTON Cameron Lade played his 50th game with Old Brighton last week . Laders has been the strength of the Tonner's defence and last week's game was no exception . The dashing No .6 after appears from nowhere, taking spectacular marks and booting long kicks into attack time and again . Congratulations Cameron, all supporters look forward to many more exciting games from you .

M ELBOURNE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL CLUB REUNIO N A number of stalwarts of the club have suggested it is most timely to have a get-together of the many who still have a soft spot for the MUFC, both past and present . Some good earlywork has been completed on a historyof the club, and a "sundowner/cocktail hour" of representatives of as many years as possible would be a boon to its progress . You wouldn't want to be misrepresented, would you ? In addition, a "Juniors Honours Board" to the glory of youth and the perpetual memoryof that living legend, Curator Cropley of the Parish of Parkville, is long overdue to be affixed . And even if there were not good works to be done, it would still be a great idea to have a few drinks with old mates and to see how long those old kicks have stretched and those goals multiplied in the intervening years . Hence, we hope you can make it to :- Cocktails with Croppo - At the MUFC Pavilion, Partners welcome - On Friday, 1st August, 6 p .m . to 8 .30 p.m . - Cost $1 2 To help with catering, could you please let us know by 24th July if you are coming by sending the slip below or ringing : - Blues David Rutherford H . 557 8245 B . 520 3076 - Blacks Tony Costello H . 861 873 2 B . 417 4514 - Reds & Juniors Bruce Crossley H . 592 5950 B . 520 444 4
