ELIMIN8HATE
As the social advocacy arm of VAFF, we leverage the power of arts, film and media to combat racism against Asian Canadians. With Covid-19 winding down and the spotlight shifting away from racism against Asian Canadians, Elimin8Hate has shifted focus from pandemic specific racism to ensuring that Canadians continue to be aware of and educated on the ongoing systemic racism faced by Asians in Canada.
2022 has been a successful year for this transformation, the beginning of this year saw us partner with the Vancouver Canucks during their Lunar New Year celebrations raising awareness of our organization.

For the summer, we launched our ongoing Reclaim Your Name 2.0 – Your Name Is Not A Typo campaign that recognizes non-anglicize names that have historically been deemed typos and shared in community building with activations at festivals including ones at Chinatown. This campaign garnered 100+ million impressions. Thank you to partner Citizen Relations!
During Asian Heritage Month we hosted our Elimin8Hate See US Hear US Music Concert and video. We also spoke at large organizations and schools about the rich history of Asians in Canada.
We are closing off our successful year by showcasing films at VAFF that celebrate the Asian Canadian diaspora while continuing to highlight issues of race.
The funds we’ve raised this year will be going towards sustaining these efforts and culminating in the launch of 2023 educational programming that will focus on working with institutions and companies and their role in eliminating systemic racism.
Thanks to all of you for dedicating your emotional energy to this very important cause. Please visit Elimin8Hate .org to learn more about us and donate. I look forward to sharing our plans for 2023 with you!
