Public and private transport

We started the analysis with finding out the nearby community centers/district centers. Then we connected the center of distances b/w them and out site to form a rough polygonal geometry. This helped us in finding our area of influence that was further refined using primary roads and railway line. Further the resultant area of influence is analysed as shown on the right.

Concept To derive the concept for this community center we examined whjat was thje current requirenments on a city level basis. We came to the conclusion that we need to design a place that not only caters to the people, but also become a center point for people to come socialize and enjoy its colourful landscape. ‘First life, then spaces, then buildings – the other way around never works.’ - Jan Gehl

To derive the concept for this community center we examined what was the current requirenments on a city level basis. We came to the conclusion that we need to design a place that not only caters to the people, but also become a center point for people to come socialize and enjoy its colourful landscape. Where artists can come to showcase their works and various wokrshops can take place. We looked at our site as a big canvas. We placed white camouflaged buildings on the periphery, to promote security through eyes on the street concept. This creates voids where we could paint with numerous colours to make an abstract art. These colours are carefully chosen to mark different activities as well as guide visitors from one to another. This overall landscape will help the urban space become active throughout the day and easily recoganizable to the visitors. How we as humans interact with urban space has been kept in mind to provide with appropriate facilities.

Green mounds to encourage interaction with landscape

Enough space to incorporate hawkers and temporary vendors

Interactive pathways to encourage ‘play’

Open gym as an additional facility

Sports facilities for the residents

Managing micro climate by plan- Pigmented concrete to distintation of trees along footpath guish b/w different pathways

Pedestrians have been given priority while designing streets

Zo n i n g

Office block has been placed near southern portion to reduce commute distance from metro. On the periphery, small shops at ground floor facing the road and residential on floors above.

Co n ce pt

Vertical zoning: Retail/Shops at ground and first floor to accomodate large store chains like H&M, Peter England, McDonalds’

Street section 1 : Pedestrian crossing with car slowing measures. Yellow lane is for drop off, the red one is cycle lane, green is pedestrian lane and blue is frontage lane for shoppers.

Approach towards site from various roads have been kept in mind while placing the blocks. All blocks have been placed on periphery to provide security through ‘eye on the street’ concept.

Street section 2 : Here pedestrian lane has been scaled down to accomodate roadside parking for 4 wheelers. On the other side, drop-off zone is also replaced by parking.

Activities, wide pathways, continuity in track by lifting the level of road at zebra crossings have been done to provide better experience to pedestrians. Greens have been placed besides the pre-existing parks.

Street section 3 : Towards north of sapna park we have, small frontage zone, secondary pedestrian zone for seatings under the shade of trees. Cycling lane and primary pedestrian lane pass from behind the bus stop.

District Centre [Transit Oriented Development] Vision The site is an empty parcel of land near dwarka sector 11 metro station. The project will propose a unique amalgamation where people can live, socialise, work, collaborate & communicate. It will develop the place as an important place where people would want to be.

Delhi

Strong identity- increasing the visibility of the area - Welcoming - a sense of direction and porosity Interactive, people-centric design and infrastructure - plaza, Free-flowing, barrier-free movement- permeability Use of user-responsive design interventions like child-friendly junctions, multi-modal transportation and universal design ideas for the overall place Large central space- hierarchical segregation of spaces Use of design elements like pergolas, atrium, vertical gardens Flexible design- temporary elements Supporting a diverse range of uses in a sustainable urban environment Integration of public space and natural landscape into densifying cityscape

The open-roof space where names of the survivors will be displayed

The comparatively darker space where names of the deceased would be engraved on the walls

View from exit ramp towards the memorial

“Every sunset brings promise of a new dawn” The design of covid memorial revolves around the concept of sunrise and sunset depicting life and death of human beings. The entire space is divided into two parts depicting positive and negative experiences of life keeping in the mind the concept of dusk and dawn. The entrance comprises of walls making it a compact and rigid space which represents the suffering of a person during covid. It leads to a space where the names of people who passed away during the pandemic are carved. The color palette of this area is dull and greyish which expresses grief and sorrow. After every struggle there is a way towards hope. Here the connecting bridge over a water body provides a similar transition from the negative to positive space where names of covid survivors are engraved on the walls which have been derived out from the cut outs of ceiling of the adjacent volume. The exit is designed with ramps and railings which provides sense of openness and safety at the same time. The greenery in this zone depicts life and energy which merges well with the bright colored walls of this area. Hence the covid memorial explains if the sun sets at one place, it also rises in another part of the world.

[ PARAMETRIC WORKS ] So m e Ex pe rim e n ts [Hob by]

Louvre, Abu Dhabi Here I tried to recreate the Louvre, Abu Dhabi which has been designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The parametric roof is made of 8 layers of ‘stars’ made of metal.

Marshall Speakers

I re-created two parts of the marshall speakers in grasshopper. The knobs on top and the grills. Almost every physical property of the knob is changeable, Height and Radius of slanted vertical slabs.

Personal Work These are some of the experiments i have done with scripting in grasshopper software. First row: The intent here was to create various shapes using magnetic fields. Second row: The intent here was to create unique shapes, arrays using one singluar shape.

Above are some of the works I did following tutorials and courses

[ FAÇADE ] Project - Silverglades, Gurgaon Type - Commercial Brief Description Based on a concept sketch, I wrote a grasshopper script to divide the curved wall into squares. The dimesnions of squares can be changed. After coming to appropriate size of each square, I extruded them to various lengths which were generated by script itself. Later I imported the wall from Rhino to SketchUp to apply on the already built 3D of the building.

[ COLLAGE ] Co m p e t it io n E n tr y

Thought We were given a 2d file with outlines of the room. There was no restriction on the design. I thought the place as of an artist who loves to paint and play guitar. Room is painted in a pink hue to suggest the same. Several plants in the center and ivy dangling from the roof. Various textures of stone and concrete is used in flooring and walls.
