PROJECT- NRITYANGAN, COLLEGE OF INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCE( NOIDA) CONCEPT • PROJECT WAS TO DESIGN AN INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCE COLLEGE, SO MY CONCEPT WAS TO USE SOME BASIC TRADITIONAL INDIAN ARCHITECTURE. • I HAVE USED ARCHES AND COURTYARD AS USED IN INDIAN ARCHITECTURE. • AND ALSO CLIMATOLOGICOLY ARCHES, COURTYARD AND JALIS HELPS IN KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT COOL. • THE STUDIOS, LECTURE ROOMS, LIBRARY ARE ALL IN THE NORTH SO THAT THE HEAT OF THE SOUTH SUN WILL NOT AFFECT THE CLASSES. • AUDITORIUM IS PLACED IN THE FRONT OF THE SITE SO THAT THE PRESENCE PUBLIC WILL NOT AFFECT THE COLLEGE.

ORIGINALLY THE SIZE OF THE PLOT IS 130ft X 35 ft. Abirami house 1 was built on half the plot 50 yrs ago. This design was Proposed for other half of the plot. The second half of the plot consist of a BORE which can not be disturbed. The Dia of the BORE is 3ft. And it lies almost in the middle of the plot. The client did not want a straight corridor to be formed inside the house. The client wanted Entrance and the Kitchen in the east. And the Master Bedroom at least 13ft wide and also squarish. Due to the linear form of the plot all these parameters were difficult to achieve , but ultimately achieved perfectly.

Both architecture and cinematic sets have the same goal – to create a designed environment.......Is it? Or is it not?

Architecture in cinema used to tell a story , architecture used in designing and building sets and architecture of film studios where sets are created.
