Cosy Down With Ethereal Homeware

Nature is always a good reference point in design for its abundance of rich textures, workable colour palettes and timeless qualities. With Autumn upon us and frosty nights around the corner here’s an ethereal selection to hanker down with;
1. NYC Fabric & Wallpaper
Touch the stars as the magic of NYC is brought to life by illustrator Christopher Corr for Villa Nova. Think bright lights, soaring skyscrapers, iconic cabs and street art as this collection captures the magic of New York. Part of the Villa Nova ‘Picturebook Collection’, inspired by childhood memories of bedtime stories brought to life by captivating illustrations. Choose from fun fabrics, wallpaper and accessories that burst with wonder. And so the story begins for a magical kids bedroom.

2. My Moon My Mirror
I love collaborations for the creative fizz they bring, so when Diesel joined forces with a number of design houses to create a homeware collection it got my attention. The style is young, fresh and modern as you’d expect, targeting consumers who like simple shapes and pure lines for effortless living. Their collaboration with Moroso has really caught my eye, in particular ‘My Moon My Mirror’ is simply beautiful. The table and mirror capture the moon within silver mirrored glass. (Both 100cm diameter: Mirror £672, Table £828. Available at Nest). For serious space rangers there’s also the Cosmic Diner Collection Diesel x Seletti.
3. Sagan in Night Blue by Maison C
Founded by artist Costanza Theodoli-Braschi and interior designer Chiara de Rege, Maison C wallpapers are influenced by nature, literature, fine art and fantasy. Sagan is inspired by the works of astronomer and thinker Carl Sagan, bringing the night sky into our homes. Hand-printed on clay-finished eco paper, it features bright gold metallic stars twinkling on the matt background of complex dark blues which give the paper a real sense of depth and distance.
This would look stunning with a Lee Broom crystal lightbulb in a funky cloakroom, or as a statement ceiling. (£115.29sqm by Maison C. Available at George Spencer Designs).
4. Evoking the cool neutral colours of mountain stone, the intricate and textural pattern of the stunning Calvin Klein Mercury Maya Rug is reminiscent of ancient Mayan artefacts. A custom-blend of pure New Zealand wool and high-performance Luxcelle fibres woven on power looms gives a rich silken mercury finish that is beautifully reflective in light, with subtle scratches in a neutral colour for a gentle urban edge. Available in six different finishes and five sizes (From £369 at Houseology).
5. Raimond Suspension Lamp
A serious contender as a future icon, designed by Raimond Puts (1937-2012) for Moooi who knew him as ‘The man who brought the starry sky into our homes’. His intricate mathematical spheres work on a premise that we live in a world in which everything is connected to everything else, where everything fits perfectly. This conceptual simplicity and a fascination with metalwork inspired him to continue searching for the perfect blend of beauty & functionality.
His designs are the epitome of minimal means yielding maximum results. The Raimond light won the best Woonproduct of 2010 Award (Sanoma Woon Awards) and is available from 43cm diameter to a super huge 2mtrs diameter. (Stainless steel/LED. £1513 - £30,491. Stockists: Nest / Houseology).
