Ballet d’ Action 45 symbols by Valentina Gutierrez
# Imagine The goal of the 45 symbols is to reveal how visual language is conveyed in classical ballet, which is considered a symbolic dance. Ballet is a narrative form of art where the body is telling a story through gestures and movements. Through the movement a dancer is expressing a character and a narrative. Ballet has its own specific language, which is both expressive and representational, two features that are extremely important. At first, it looks like a combination of steps, which in actuality is a strong manifestation of self-expression. Through expressive body language the audience is informed, whom exactly they are dealing with. The created symbols represent 45 memes of dance in classical ballet. Dance duets convey dynamic movements between the two dancers, with the male usually portrayed as dominant and the female as submissive. Lifts and supported movements may seem clichĂŠd, but the combination of steps and their execution present a visual dialog between the two dancers.
