Proposal for a new nautical club for the city of Naples, Italy. The project is part of a larger-scale intervention on the area of the turistic port. The club wants to become a place for meeting, entertainment, information, education and leisure, careful to the needs of citizens. The idea is to create a space integrated with the sea and the city, marked by Maschio Angioino, two important presence for this landscape. The main purpose is to create a new center capable of to activate a virtuous circuit of territorial qualification, through an architectural composition made by simple volumes that inside make up an unique path.

The thesis project concerned on the restoration and redevelopment of the Sieci furnace in Scauri, Minturno(LT). The factory, dedicated to the production and exportation of bricks and tiles from 1880 to 1982, nowadays it is in state of ruin, is a typical case of coastal industrial archaeology to be preserved by introducing new functions. The intention was to reconnect the furnace to the urban fabric and reconstitute the lost identity of the place, in the perspective in which a re-functionalized industrial archaeology can become museum, it is first a museum of itself.

The material representation allows us to read the advanced state of abandonment. Peculiarities of the building is the Hoffmann oven, which strongly marks the geometry of the furnace.

Architectural Survey_Section A-A’ The section highlights the double structural system that characterizes the whole organism, made by the external wall, which contains the structure of the Hoffman oven. The guideline for the structural interventions derive from the study of critical restoration. The main point is the method of minimum intervention, to assist the existent structure and not replace it. I choose to use reversible and recognizable interventions using compatible materials with the pre-existence in respect of the ancient building.

11

Crushing of the structure

- Slimness of the pillars - Swelling of the pillars

Instability of the chimney

- Inflection of the element - Action of the wind

Bandage of the Vaults _ FRP Stripes

Round off the Inside Chimney For the vaults that make the tunnel of the furnace, we suggest a bandage with FRP stripes and the restoration of a brick floor.

For the chimney is assumed a system of inside circle and straps, which guarantees a limited invasivity , reversibility and modularity of the intervention.

Urban Masterplan after the restoration

The purpose of the proposal is regenerating through the restoration project the whole area reconnecting to the urban fabric and to the two major transport arteries.

The work interested the city of Locarno, Canton Ticino, Swizterland, exactly the area nearby the central train station. A context of particular interest for his central position and that during the research studies showed concrete possibility. The main theme is the construction of a new urban centrality, starting from the integration of new residences and related services. The residential complex is composed by two elements that developed horizontally and eight vertical elements, in which the residences take shape.

The subject of this research, is located in Mondragone (CE), Italy. The monastic complex of Sant’ Anna is inserted in a context of considerable cultural and panoramic value, that overlook the whole territory from its 300m of height. Nowdays the monastery looks in state of degeneration. The purpose of the project is of to connect the requests of conservation of the manufact and its redevelopment. The integration of new functions, will allow of making it a cultural attractor of the territory, but preserving its cultural and religious identity.

24

The complex of Sant’ Anna is a unique organism that fits perfectly into the landscape. Its present conformation is given by the growth of the small church over the centuries, fulcrum of the monastery. Today the traces of the past have been lost due to the degradation.

25

26

Conservation and adaptation interventions follow the parameters of contemporary restoration: - minimum intervention - recognizability of additions - reversibility of the intervention

27

28

The project consists in the recovery and redevelopment of the ex industrial area ASI, in the territory of Nusco-Lioni (AV), Italy. The main objective is to preserve the industrial character of the buildings with interventions that do not distort its essence. The structure of the former granary and silos, have been transformed following what could be their vocation.

The reuse of existing structures was possible thanks to the creation of new paths, which made the two buildings as a single complex. The use of silos is guaranteed by the insertion of new steel structures, together with vertical connections and floors, previously non-existent.

31

32

The new structural steel system respects the industrial nature of the complex. The new spaces will be used for cultural and leisure activities.
