The site of a project is occupied by an old italian market, that is not functioning anymore. The neighborhood is a peaceful residential area with some green courtyards. By the legislation, ex-market was decided to turn into a residential lot with some extra functions.

Two separate parts of the site were united with a big woonerf that turns into a park. There are three types of the residential buildings, based on the surrounding typology. Preserved buildings have architectural and social value. They suppose to host temporal cultural events and social activities.

Before starting the project, it was decided to interview the neighbourhood on what activities they would like to see in the newcoming project. The final design is based on the interview, preservation of the decided buildings and general city tendency for the landmarks.

New design is framed with the existing residential complexes , empty green space and a rail road. Strategically the site is connected to the Porta Vittoria station by metro and intercity train system, what gives the project a lot of transport, economic and cultural advantages.

DRAGON VALLEY KOREAN TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN THE FAR EAST OF RUSSIA 2011, South Korea Individual academic project Professor: Lee Jang Bum

ArchiCAD PhotoShop Maquette

CorelDraw Hand Sketch

Project of the village is based on the knowledge of main principles and philosophy of Korean traditional architecture and urban planning. Project site is in Khabarovsk city, Far East of Russia. It locates between Korean peninsula and Sahalin island, that was hosting Korean refugee camps during the period of Japanese invasion of Korea. This project includes the complex of Korean traditional ceremonial palaces, traditional academy, storages and several types of Korean traditional houses, including the typology of a noble house of the north regions. Ideal postion of the complex has been shifted and adjusted according the exact site location, but

withing the possible shifts from rules. The ceremonial part represents the head of a dragon, while the heart is academy and cultural museum. His body are workshops, warehouses and shops. The tail of a dragon is represented by residential block of different house types according to the wealth of a resident. Village has four separate entrances, where the two are main ones. One leads to the ceremonial palace as in any traditional Korean royal complex. Another one is a traditional entrance to a Korean village. Other two entrances connect the village with the city infrastructure by the cultural “imaginary gates“ and lead to the museum and academy.

INDEPENDENT PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE

Milan, Italy, 2015

City rhythm is different in every country. These photos represent city character through my eyes. Rome has harmoniously intertissued modernity and ancientry. While in Milan tall buildings reecho with the saints on the Duomo Cathedral, creating sort of a conversation between business and soul. Another facinating topic for me is flipped reflections of Navigli. There is a whole another world hidden in the canals of Milan. South Korean traditional villages is where the time has stopped. Architecture there is a part of nature. And nature itself represents architecture. City is a living organizm and it is interesting to search for its secrets in even very tiny details and from a different perception.
