You’ve taken the time to write a killer blog post. You’ve done your keyword research, and you’ve syndicated it all over the place. You’re done with that post – right? WRONG! There is still so much left that can be done with that blog post to get tons of mileage out of it. Think about when you were a kid, and you outgrew a pair of pants. Did those pants get thrown away? Absolutely not! They were either made into shorts, or passed on to someone else to wear. Those pants that were too small were repurposed. Keep that in mind as we talk about how to re-purpose your content. 1. Shoot a video You can do one of two things here. You can either record yourself reading the post, or put the post on power point slides and record the slide presentation. Either way, you have a video of the post now. Upload the video onto your favorite video sharing sites such as YouTube and Vimeo. You can put the link to your blog in the video description, and also post the video to your blog. A portion of your audience may not have time to read a blog post, but they can watch a video. It is easier to watch a video on a smart phone than it is to read a blog post!
2. Create a PDF Convert your blog post to a PDF and share it on PDF submission sites. PDF submission sites are useful for search engine optimization (SEO) and for search engine marketing (SEM). These sites provide high quality backlinks to boost your rankings in Google, which leads to more search engine traffic. PDF sites get tons of traffic from visitors looking for relevant information on a particular topic, which will be shared with colleagues, friends and family, which can bring in more traffic. 3. Build an infographic An infographic is a pictorial representation of your blog post. Instead of having a lot of statistical data in a post, create an infographic with relevant images to connect the data with an idea. Infographics are creative and visually appealing. You can use sites such as Visual.ly and Piktochart.com to create infographics, even if you are creatively challenged! If a picture is worth a thousand words, an infographic is worth a million! Of course, add your website URL to the infographic to drive traffic. 4. Create a podcast Being a part of the mobile generation, being able to consume information by ear is invaluable! In this instance, creating a podcast is one of the most important things you can do. Podcasting creates a whole new avenue for you to reach a different audiences. During the podcast, you will mention your website URL to drive traffic. You can also add the podcast to your blog – which is another post! 5. Create an eBook Do you have a substantial amount of posts on a particular topic? Put them all together and create an EBook. Supplement the eBook with new content and images. Use Fiverr.com to get a cover and get the eBook formatted, and voila! You can then use this eBook as a list building tool – which gets you traffic and leads, you can use it to generate income or even as a bonus giveaway. As you can see, a blog post is not just a blog post. You can convert these blog posts into other forms to get more use out of them, just like cutting the legs off of pants to make them into shorts. You’ve just taken something old and made it new again! These new forms bring traffic from different areas of the internet, allowing you to connect with different people in a way that they best consume information.
