How to Start a Home Business the Right Way and Become a Top Producer Posted by Valentino Crawford (Dream Team) on September 16, 2014 If you want to know how to start a home business the right way and become a top producer, this will be the most important article you ever read.
What I reveal to you is the foundation that ALL top-producers practice, no matter what industry, business or niche they are in, whether they are aware of it or not, so pay attention!
I recently invested in my education (one of the many things top producers are willing to do) and in one of the modules, it talks about beliefs and attitudes. If you’re anything like me, you would have been tempted to skip that module and go to more of the ‘how-to’ training.
My initial thought was, “I’ll go back to that later…I listen to audios of inspiring and empower people and I read books about people who are more successful than me on a daily basis…let’s get into the meat and potatoes!”
But then, my mentor’s voice kept ringing in my head, “How you do anything is how you do everything!” So I listened to that voice (because that’s what top producers do) and made a decision to go through the module instead of skipping it.
Man, I’m glad I did! Here’s what I discovered…
Beliefs All behavior happens unconsciously…and our behaviors are driven by our beliefs. So we could be sabotaging ourselves without even realizing it!
Example: If you don’t believe in your company or product, you will not show up with the conviction that will cause your audience to take you seriously. If you belief that your business is just a way to make a ‘quick buck’, then your actions will reflect that…and you will wonder why no one is buying from you or partnering up with you.
Alignment If our belief is not in alignment with the actions we should be taking to get the desired result, then our mind will create deletions, distortions and generalizations that are congruent with that belief.
Example: If you believe money is the root of all evil, but you want to start a home business to earn extra income, then as you will get stuck in a rut at a certain point. On an unconscious level, your mind will keep you from taking action to progress, because it is ‘protecting’ you from that ‘evil’ money.
Belief in Others You must believe in your prospects, customers and your team. People always have the ability to do more than you think they have the ability to do. If you want to keep people around, you must believe in them.
Example: If you take no excuses from yourself, and you are willing to start your home business the right way by investing in your education, then you must believe that your prospects have the ability to do the same thing…even if they tell you that ‘they can’t afford to’ or ‘don’t have time to’. If you don’t believe in them, you will buy their excuses. Top producers don’t buy excuses…not even from themselves! So believe in your people and speak life into them!
14 Steps to Overcome Limiting Beliefs
In this training, I was given an assignment. I was to choose a limiting belief I had and go through these 14 steps to overcome them. I chose to overcome a limiting belief of the work I do does not create a result.
Here are examples of the first five of the 14 steps:
Positive Intention All behavior is unconscious and unconscious behavior has a positive intention, even when the behavior is negative. The positive intention for my belief is to protect me from doing unnecessary work and prevent me from wasting my precious time. Though the intention is positive, the negative behavior I exercise at times is the tendency to stop taking action because I do not see immediate results.
Redefining Are there any characteristics of disbelief that could be redefined to mean something else? I have taken this belief and redefined it as the work I do does create a result. Everything I do creates a result. So if I want to continue creating results, I must continue to take action, even if I do not currently see the desired result manifesting.
Consequences What is the negative consequence of continuing to believe this thing you believe? If I continue to believe this, I will continue to not take action. If I do not take action, I won’t know what is or isn’t working. I cannot improve on actions I don’t take, so if I don’t’ improve, I won’t make any money! What are the positive consequences of changing it? If I change this belief, I will be taking more action and coursecorrecting sooner than later so that I can reach my desired results. What positive outcomes is this belief having in your life? This belief really has no positive outcome…it makes me stagnant. What is it producing that is actually positive for you? Nothing positive.
Chunking Down Can this belief be broken down to a more detailed level? Believing that the work I do is not creating a result is an example of me not believing in the work I do. If I don’t believe in what I do, I don’t value it, and if I don’t value it, then I won’t share it. If I don’t share it, then I don’t help anyone. So basically, if I don’t take action, I’m not helping anyone.
Chunking Up Can this belief be summed up to a more generalized and more abstract level? Believing that the work I do is not creating a result means that I am taking action that is not giving me a desired outcome. By not taking action, it is a form of procrastination. Procrastination is an example of laziness. So basically, I’m being lazy.
Here are the rest of the steps. To learn more about these steps, you must invest your education. I would do it no justice in explaining every step because there is so much value packed into this module alone (this is only 1 out of 13 additional modules!).
-Counter Example
-Create a Metaphor
-Apply to Self
-Changing the Outcome
-Hierarchy of Criteria
-Change Frame Size
-Metaframe
-Model of the World
-Reality Strategy
My Breakthrough
The breakthrough I received from doing this exercise is realizing that I take the information I learn in the products and community for granted. When surrounded by excellence and connected to powerful people all the time, what I feel is second nature and not really important could be the very thing that could give someone else the breakthrough they need.
If I stop taking action, I could be keeping someone from getting their own breakthrough. If my goal is to inspire others and give them clarity, then I must lead by example. If I feel that my work is wasting my time, then it is my responsibility to ‘crack the code’ to figure out what will work…which means I must continue to take action, no matter what!
This is how beliefs and attitudes determine your ability to start a home business the right way. So, establish a strong foundation by overcoming your limiting beliefs…your breakthrough is around the corner!
