he building is not an end in itself, but should be understood in relationship with the environment. Therefore, this project has been designed taking into account the surrounding landscape. Middle mountain suggestive landscape, wich is overlooking Lake Como, has been at the center of the project, in addition to the design of a hostel. It was expected the creation of a theme park, designed in such a way as to integrate the building harmoniously with nature, through special trails and views. Main themes of park’s project were related to the elements wich characterize the landscape of the lake, such as the viewpoint, the hornbeam wood and the harvest.

his project was designed with the aim to exploit the potential of the surrounding area by creating panoramic views of the farmhouse and on agricultural lands. The original idea was to allow compenetration between private space and public space, by planning a path wich connects the two sides of the lot, with a central space formed by two bodies of water, with the function of a park and a recreation area. Inspiration for the project was Berlage’s city blocks in Amsterdam: integration between public and private space is clear, the buildings that form the lots, wich were confined at first sight, are opened on one side presenting their internal public facilities surrounded by green areas.

esign a building with low environmental impact, employ ecologically innovative materials and integrate the building with the surrounding park are the main aims of this project. Due to the design of a path that goes from outside through the building, you can create a perfect bond with natural environment. Furthermore the use of a wooden structure and walls plug, made with low impact materials as earth-straw, allowed this info-point, at the entrance of Ticino’s Park, to communicate harmoniously with the neighboring woods. Wooden ramps, that sometimes rise from the ground to form seating, push through the building and lead visitors inside the forest or to the didactic garden.

ervio’s Old Town is characterized by the presence of narrow alleys that branch off from the main street and buildings of various heights (not more than three floors) located on different levels, connected by narrow and steep stairs, carved into the rock. Furthermore, in this area the Varrone river is a significant presence, towards wich walled curtain closes to protect homes from cold and humidity. Moreover in the project are planned the recreation of narrow passages between buildings, the creation of small open spaces towards the river and the construction of a wooden walkway close to the residential area, to make an alternative to the main path and have greater closeness with the river.

oncerning the building located in the gorge, wich being a typical building of the area and being the gorge itself a place full of character, was chosen for its preservation. The project involves the restoration of the existing building by placing inside new features such as a swimming pool and a gym. The pool displays it is ideal to be assigned as a new function for this building, as it is located in a dark and moist area. Thanks to the arrangement of outdoor spaces, in the summer this could become an alternative place for recreation and rest than usual beach that overlooks the lake just a few feet away. Dervio is frequented by many sportsmen and this new pool could attract many visitors. 21

hen searching for building’s environmental comfort, there are several aspects to take into account, including countinuos thermal insulation, good air tightness, adequate ventilation, proper lighting....etc. etc. Starting from an energy G class existing building, in a state of negative environmental comfort, have been developed two design solutions. The main objective of these two proposal is to transform the existing building, in order to get it high energy performance and a more captivating aesthetic aspect. In the first project was advantaged a conservative aesthetic choice, while the latter is aimed towards innovation and twisting building’s initial appearance.

ight as art, a collection of warm colors which transmit light rays. This theme focuses on the representation of light material, and there is a reference to the Japanese lanterns in spite of design is innovative and simplified. Disks of colored matter intersect a central core made with rice paper, supported by a structure with black rice paper “slices”; Everything is translucent and creates mirror’s effect. This combination of light and matter creates pleasurable effects suitable for a romantic and quiet atmosphere. NIKKO is the name of this artifact, a Japanese word wich means sunbeam. This name was chosen because circular shapes and warm colors are reminescent of the image of the sun.

rom 5 LED 30x3x0.3 cm connected to a transformer, has been designed a casing inspired by Aalvar Aalto’s Savoy vase. In fact the idea was to open the closed curve that forms the vase and carry it out to the long side to form an opaque white glass curved strip. Behind the glass curve, was positioned a second steel curve where have been entered the LEDs. The two strips are supported by a chromed steel base, in wich they are embedded. The object thus defined can be placed on the floor or hung on a wall. The placement of the LEDs and various bends create a pleasing play of lights and shadows on the wall. Very simple and sinuos design makes the object very classy. 33

aking into account positive and negative characters of the place, it can be argued that it has many great features, and an irreplaceable role into the ecological and landscape balance of the context where it is placed. It is necessary that the common disinterest and degradation not cause a progressive disappearance of this place. The project have a premise, which serves as a starting point for the development of two scenarios that are necessary for redevelopment of the original functions of the alp. The main theme is the designation of the tourist trade - recreation of the place. It also focuses attention on the economic and productive resources that the site can still provide.

f the planning paradigm of urbanization, dense urban living conditions and economic prosperity is to be dominating the urban planning discourse, then post-industrial cities similar to Haparanda is likely to continue to shrink. How can the city of Haparanda prepare for this scenario of unemployment and urban shrinkage? This proposal is seeking to use time as a resource that could bring people a life that will not be determined by a lifestyle of consumption. The solution could be to design spaces so that people instead could share and exchange services among each other. Also this proposal focuses on the improvement of public transports and local food production. 40
