VALERIE JIMENEZ-LOPEZ EDUCATION INTERIOR COMMUNITIES LANDSCAPES MOBILITY URBAN

Location: inwood, NY program: rezoning r7a community & residential size: 106,464 SF The Project Site is located at 20 Cumming Street in the heart of Inwood, just a block north of Dyckman Street subway station along the ‘A’ train. Located in an R7-2 zoning district, the church complex consists of three buildings comprising approximately 11,000 square feet. These buildings are not l and marked, and Respondents may propose relocating the Congregation’s programs either partially or entirely within the new development. In order to retain a presence in the community and further its impact, Owner is seeking responses to this RFP that utilize the site’s development potential to accomplish the Congregation’s development goals. Respondents should propose a creative development approach which balances Owner’s need for revenue and its ability to maintain a space for worship, education and community activity in the neighborhood (“Project”).

Location: Muzo, colombia program: labor housing analytical study size: 4,700 SF Muzo is known for it’s beautiful Emerald mines and its traditional Colombian community. The project is designed around a cross-shaped water filtration system that hydrates and conditions natural air for it’s inhabitants. Materials for construction are all naturally produced in Muzo using its traditional labor construction. The first floor is set for a community living space where the labor workers share the kitchen and living space. The second and third floor uses the natural climate of the land by incorporating the circulation system as wind tunnels into the bedrooms. My mission is to think of the beauty of an emerald to take care of the workers whom can then find beauty in living.

Location: 88-08 164th St, Jamaica program: new elementary & intermediate Project Completed size: 115,000 SF occupied by 830 students The building occupies the site of a former Verizon facility. It’s L-Shaped form encloses and defines a significant public open space that serves the recreation needs of the school and community. The school is organized into two main components. A four story academic wing along the west edge of the site encompasses instructional spaces, offices, student dining and a library. A three-story public assembly wing occupies the northeast corner. The wing comprises the “Big Box” spaces that require long column-free structural spans and include the gymnasium and multi-use “gymatorium”. A two-story glass-enclosed lobby/gallery designed to join both wings serves as the school’s main entrance and connects major public use.

Location: MIDDLETOWN, NY program: RESEARCH LABORATORY SCHEMADIC DESIGN size: 1,640 SF Existing Condition: The Lab was initially envisioned and actually included in construction documents when the building was first built. The space has been vacant or used for storage since then. Our Mission: We will review the plans provided for the original building, review the existing conditions, and evaluate with regard to current code requirements, several of which have changed since the time of the building’s construction. We will also factor in any suggested equipment or instructional updates that might impact the plan based on feedback we receive from the college.

Location: brighton beach NY program: interior alteration Project Completed size: 1,867 SF This project was for a couple adjoining 2 existing dwelling units in a co-op building. The two apartments have been gutted and the main wall that formed the separation was demolished. We reconfigured using the program that included a living room, dinning room, master bedroom, bathroom, closets, kitchen, and two private offices. The circulation was important to remain as open as possible since a beautiful beach waterfront was at our advantage. The interior design used various kinds of selected finishes from Italy.
