APARTMENT PIRAEUS Renovation 85sm, Athens (Greece) October 2016- finished
The refurbished house was the first floor of a two- floor detached house in a district of Piraeus. Following the client’s demand, the first floor of the whole house was converted into a new independent home for herself. The internal rearrangement of spaces has based on a more unified design concept in comparison to the initial old trend of a bunch of different rooms. The decorating concept of this apartment is mixing old-new concept. Simplicity and northern- European sensibilities are the key ideas on display with clean and cozy urban feel. Modern living space’s standard into the house are successfully and harmoniously combined with the authenticity of a past architecture style. Bright and pale colors, wooden floor and furniture, white and minimal kitchen and ambient lighting in total create familiar, warm and homey atmosphere. Old objects across the whole apartment remind of the past and old memories transfusing a more vintage tone in the new design concept. The antique impressive mirror above the sofa in the living room, the antique but renewed bookshelves in the office space, the old sewing machine in the bedroom used as dressing table and a variety of decoratives around constitute central factor in the total minimal concept design.

ATHENS VIEW LOFTS Renovation 20-25sm, Athens (Greece) April 2016- June 2016
team studio CNI Architects, Athens
Aim of the project was the creation of a network of contemporary lofts with lounge terraces and view towards Acropolis and city skyline in central districts of Athens. Therefore, six petit apartments of 70s situated on the top floor of block of flats have been totally renovated and redesigned in order to cover completely all the necessary accommodation needs. The renovation process was realized in all lofts simultaneously during a 3-month period and had been based on a common way of design, construction and supervision. Strengthening the structural shell and fixing every defective point was of paramount importance, given that the apartments had a great amount of lasting problems (i.e terrace and wall moisture). Meanwhile, significant interventions both inside and outside were taken place in order to achieve spatial revival and give a more particular and unique image to each loft. Minimal design, bright colors and lounge spatial sense characterize Athens View Lofts. (More details: http://athensviewlofts.gr/)

01 The lofts are transformed into one single main space where concentrates bedroom, living room, kitchen, office and a separate area of wardrobe, while bathroom is discreetly separated. It is obvious that there is spatially proper use of small space, given the targeted design from general planning to specific details. Every apartment is suitable from one to three people disposing two single beds with bedside tables and a comfortable handmade sofa. Compact kitchen and wardrobe include a variety of comforts and storage spaces, while office with drawers and shelves are available for the dweller.
08
02 02 Light grey laminate floor is harmonically combined with the white walls and furnishing. Rough texture of white brick facing behind bed, handmade lighting fixtures with black cables and round white led bulbs and wooden constructions of white, wenge and birch color create a peaceful and homy atmosphere. Sandblasted glass surfaces with black metal frames constitute key element of the general style of the lofts, being the separator between the main space and the hygiene space. Bathroom follows the same design concept with white tiles and black joints all over the walls and floor. Particular emphasis was given in the outdoor area which is highlighted by ambient lighting techniques, lounge handmade sofa and sitting areas and green walls. The veranda is configured in such a way that the dweller could live the experience of a microclimate under leisurely circumstances framing the city center view and Acropolis.

PENTHOUSE ATHENS Renovation 87sm, Athens (Greece) October 2015- January 2016 team studio CNI Architects, Athens
In
the center of Athens, a penthouse of 60’s with panoramic view towards Pedion Areos’ grove is renovated in early 2016 to welcome a young couple and meet their needs. The whole refurbishment process was a financially approachable solution with controlled budget, based on the existing dwelling and refreshing proposals. The old-fashioned planning of the apartment with the numberless small rooms separated with doors and corridors is now transformed into a fully flexible and homogenized space. Light-colored laminate floor and warm color in the walls are combined with furniture in tones of grey colors. The minimal kitchen become part of the whole scenery, while the antique bookshelves still remain as vintage remnant of the past but adapted to the new circumstances. The two bedrooms have a more playful and ambient mood, whilst the two bathrooms follow two different design approaches.

GLORIA THEATRE Renovation 920sm, Athens (Greece) December 2014- finished
team studio CNI Architects, Athens
Our design proposal is focused on the transformation of the
01
main theatre space- both the arena and the balcony- into a ‘black box’ with bold, red coloured surfaces, rejuvenating the historic theatre (built in 1962) in downtown Athens. A thorough disassembly of the wall coatings, floors, windows, and electrical equipment took place in order to expose the materials, textures and structural elements of the theatre shell whilst enhance the audiovisual and thermal performance of the building. An industrial character was given by unifying a collection of contradicting elements and textures.

GARDEN KRIBI Landscaping 800sm, Kribi (Cameroon) June 2013- in progress team studio Savorelli, Milan
The spacious exterior space of a luxurious
01
coastal villa in Cameroon is carefully designed in order to repsect the general concept of the house, the climate of the region and the various potential activities in the garden. The idea of kaleidoscope is created through the precise location of the trees, while the planting seems to penetrate the villa. An environmental study has been made as far as the choice of the trees and plants is concerned. The main protagonist is the phoenix in its different varieties, which in combination with the diverse low vegetations creates spaces and zones for the visitor- voyeur.

Lantern follows a design and alternative methodology for temporary housing shelter for 4-member families- war refugees in the Middle East. A cost effective and sustainable emergency shelter prototype gives response to material, structural, assembly, package, transport and flexibility questions. A qualitative living context is defined either as a unit or as a mass community. The idea of being unfolded as an accordion, makes savings in cost, construction equipment and workmanship. Thanks to its conceptual adaptability to a number of scenarios, this temporary shelter can be considered as a go-anywhere solution for providing aid to victims of the disaster with the special facility of assembly in only one step. Lantern is the protective hug, which deeply holds the light of hope for this kind of persons in need.

ECOffeshop Renewable café 266sm, Brean (UK) February 2012 MSc. project
A network of social interaction and communication but simultaneously of personal tranquillity and isolation unfolds in a vintage way. Robust leather and wooden but also light metal furniture sharply create the architectural style of the café. Industrial floor, naked concrete wall, and the particular stone wall concentrate the basic components of this alternative design.
01
ECOffeshop has been reconstructed in a eco-friendly way. Renewable energy sources give energy boost to the functions of the café. Photovoltaic panels and solar thermal panel in the roof take advantage of the solar energy for electricity and hot water heating respectively, and finally biomass produces heating via wood pellets combustion. Environmental performance significantly improves, as the carbon footprint decreases. The technical, environmental and economical integration of these systems contribute to the achievement of energy efficiency of the café.

The nursery implements a new educational reality and fos-

ters the development of interaction, the research approach to knowledge and creativity in the classroom through the flexibility of space creating a homely atmosphere. The space is transformed, giving the users the sense of identity: where I belong, where I can retreat, where I can find friends, who can work individually or in groups, under informal and spontaneous formations which serve a variety of actions.Transparency deeply characterises the room, so that the child can be orientated and gain a sense of space. The environmental activities and the class design enhance the need of the child to deal with nature and the comprehension for energy exploitation. But above all they help children to obtain flexibility and freedom to their own quality of life.

Palimpsest The ideaofre-using 7sm, Athens (Greece) July 2011 Temporary installation Benaki Museum team AAO project, Athens
Palimpsest
01
[Latin palimpsestus, from Greek word παλίμψηστος: something having diverse layers or aspects, from πάλιν: : again + ψάω: scraped clean and used again]. Something which initial writing has been scraped and is replaced by a second one, leaving visible its own traces though. The reuse of materials does not only redefine the limited natural sources, but also does provide a cultural narrative. This installation looks deeply through ways that we realize something as garbage. It indicates that the re-use of materials is proved to lead to a more conscious architecture through an ecological, economic, aesthetic and cultural perception of objects that we throw away, by giving them value effortlessly.
