KEY ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES FOR PIK PROJECT
Peace Initiative Kenya (PIK) is a threeyear USAID funded project working towards the prevention of and response to gender based violence (GBV) in Kenya. Peace Initiative Kenya project aims at improving national and county-level GBV service delivery systems and policy implementation.

Strategizing meeting on the Protection Against Domestic Violence Bill
At the national level, PIK is working closely with Directorate of Gender, National Gender and Equality Commission( NGEC), Anti-Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Board and other GBV stakeholders to support coordination, improve on gender mainstreaming and policy frameworks for GBV prevention and response. Supporting the national sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) Helpline 1195 and enhancing the national online mapping of GBV service providers for quick referencing. Working with County Women Representatives and women leaders at the county level as advocates to raise awareness of GBV at national and county level. Working directly with county governments (executives, members of county assembly (MCAs), county administrators) to lobby for establishment of GBV structures, allocation of resources for improved GBV services and awareness raising on the crisis of GBV at the county level. Supporting training and capacity building to county governments and other GBV stakeholders Identifying and engaging with male champions to improve on prevention of and response to GBV in the community. Providing GBV legal and psychosocial counseling to those affected. Providing organization development and capacity building for the implementing partners for sustainable GBV prevention and response. Working with legislatures to advocate for bills that protect the family unit and promote equality for all.

THE PIK PARTNERSHIP International Rescue Committee (IRC) is
Healthcare Assistance Kenya (HAK)
the lead implementing partner of PIK project. IRC implements projects globally and locally in GBV prevention and response, health, economic recovery, women’s empowerment, youth development, and conflict mitigation and peace building. www.rescue.org

The African Woman and Child Features Service (AWC) champions for the documentation of GBV and peace building initiatives by producing publications as well as amplifying women’s voices through the media. www.awcfs.org
Rural Women Peace Link (RWPL) works in Rift Valley region to provide multifaceted support and structures to articulate women’s common needs and priorities, share experiences, and engage in advocacy. www.ruralwomenpeacelink.org African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) create better business
