Director’s Note
Welcome to SIDE BY SIDE: Summer Theatre at VCT! Our camp this year has focused on fun, developing a love for Theatre Arts, and skills in three areas: vocals, dance, and design. Rotating through three workshops per day, our campers have learned proper singing technique, how to be an ensemble and work together, some new (and seriously fun) dance moves, and even how to design and build their very own prop, many of which you will see on stage today. Each one of your students has shown tremendous tenacity as they have learned and rehearsed their “micro” shows in just three short weeks. We are so excited to share the fruits of their work with you today.
Our theme Bible verse for camp this year comes from the book of Isaiah, chapter 41:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Throughout camp, we have spent time talking about how God comes right alongside us when we might be feeling lonely, and that even though we might feel lost or scared, sometimes He uses those around us, by our sides, to make His presence known. What a wonderful way to see our friends and family – as God’s continual presence in our lives!
We have had so much fun getting to know your students this summer. They have truly blessed us, as I hope they have been blessed. I hope we will see them again, either during the school year, or next summer when we return to a full production for our camp (stay tuned for the show announcement coming soon!). Thank you for trusting us with your most precious treasures!
