The Access and Accommodations Resource Center works in partnership with faculty and staff to provide appropriate academic adjustments and/or reasonable accommodations to qualified students with properly documented disabilities. We seek to ensure that all aspects of student life are accessible, equitable, and inclusive of individuals with disabilities.
The Bloom Scholars Program is designed to academically, socially, and culturally prepare a cohort of newly admitted first-year students for life at Valparaiso University and beyond. It is a four-year model that provides an academic foundation, beginning with an intensive summer bridge. During the summer bridge program, students will complete college-level coursework and live at Valparaiso University, at no cost to the student, to help adjust to campus life. Following the bridge program, Bloom Scholars will earn a $500 scholarship award and are expected to transition into and become active, engaged participants in the specialized programming intended to help them thrive in and out of the classroom.
Calling and Spiritual Life promotes Valpo’s calling to produce graduates who will live lives of leadership and service. We do this by helping students reflect on their life calling, supporting the spiritual lives of students from all faith backgrounds, and fostering a caring and supportive community on campus. Our division is home to the Offices of Campus Ministry and Church Relations, the Institute for Leadership and Service, and the Institute for Liturgical Studies. Our partners include St. Teresa’s Catholic Student Ministry, The Rifai Interfaith Institute, and the Lutheran Diaconal Association.
Campus Recreation and Well-Being at Valpo provides comprehensive programming for holistic student, faculty, and staff wellness. With offices located throughout the campus Fitness Center, the department works to help create opportunities for informal recreation, competitive sport, fitness and group exercise, and wellness education.
The Career and Alumni Network’s mission is to serve the needs of undergraduate and graduate students from five different colleges and facilitate recruiting efforts for employers.
The Counseling Center’s mission is to promote the psychological well-being of students to enhance their healthy decision-making and overall functioning. The Counseling Center assists students in overcoming personal issues that may negatively impact their ability to be successful and to make the most out of their experience at Valparaiso University.
The Health Center provides professional and confidential healthcare and educational wellness programs for full-time students. The Health Center also manages immunization requirements for enrolled students. Located on the first floor of the Promenade East building, the center serves all students to ensure their health and wellness while on campus.
The Office of Multicultural Programs’ (OMP) mission is to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive student experience. We are dedicated to empowering students to become leaders in fostering an environment that celebrates and appreciates diverse cultures. Located in Loke Hall, the OMP invites you to explore a variety of student organizations that represent a rich tapestry of backgrounds and identities. Discover opportunities to connect with groups such as the Black Student Organization (BSO); Latino Student Organization (L.I.V.E.); Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Student Organization (AAPIC); and the LGBTQ+ student organization, ALLIANCE; among others.
Valparaiso Advancing Latino Education, or ¡VALE! (bah - leh), is a task force created to further the transformation of Valparaiso University into an institution where Latino students are given the support and climate they need to succeed. ¡VALE! oversees Valpo’s initiative to become a Hispanic Serving Institution by focusing on improving the recruitment, service, and culture that impacts the Latino student experience at Valpo.
The Office of Residential Life is committed to making the student experience outside the classroom just as rewarding as inside. On-campus living is a key part of the Valpo experience, where students who receive ongoing support are encouraged to pursue not just a career, but a vocation. We offer programs, services, and leadership opportunities designed to support academic success, personal growth, and community development. The dedicated staff fosters an environment where students can grow, challenge themselves, and fully flourish during their time at Valpo.
The Division of Student Life is committed to fostering student success through a variety of support programs. The Cornerstone Program offers a blend of educational and social engagement opportunities to promote persistence, success, and personal growth for first-year students who are the first in their family to attend college. Through student success coaching, Student Life offers individualized guidance to help students navigate academic and personal challenges, ensuring they thrive throughout their college journey. Commuter student programs maintains the commuter student kitchen open 24/7 for commuter student use, in addition to individualized support, availability, and programming. The student support assistants (SSAs) offer peer mentorship to first-year students living in the residence halls to aid in their transition and connect to campus resources.
Valparaiso University is committed to offering a multitude of various student activities including nearly 100 recognized organizations and a national award winning fraternity and sorority community. The Center for Student Involvement is located on the first floor of the Harre Union and is a welcoming place for students to gather and collaborate with their organizations.
This interdisciplinary hub brings together passionate students from across Valpo’s five colleges to harness the power of innovative and collaborative thinking. Students can apply to join a cohort around the themes of sustainability or social justice. Students have the opportunity to center their general education courses around this topic, working together to solve issues around these themes.
