Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Valparaiso Police Department Participating in DEA Take-Back Day The Valparaiso Police Department will be participating in the second Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day sponsored by The Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A.). On Saturday April 30th the Valparaiso Police Department will be accepting unwanted prescription drugs at their police station located at 355 S. Washington St. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. The first Nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Day in September of 2010 was a huge success for the Valparaiso Police Department. During that event over 200 pounds of prescription drugs were collected. “The overwhelming public response to the DEA’s first nationwide event last fall not only rid homes of potentially harmful prescription drugs, but was an unprecedented opportunity to educate everyone about the growing prescription drug abuse problem,” said DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart.
