1) Senior Exit Project
Terrapin Rennovation
Client & Site:
Terrapin Beer Co. is located on 265 Newton Bridge Rd in Athens, Georgia. Open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30, this brewery allows one to try craft beers while enjoying live music and fresh air. Tours of the brewery are also available inside.
Design Concept
Front Facade
Inspiration taken from photographs of nature, guided Terrapin’s design concept. The straight simple and long lines derived from the photographs contrast with layered entangled winding shapes created from tree branches. This particular contrast is used throughout the tasting area’s straight angular wooden beams on top of stone pillars, and in the metal ceiling panels over both the interior and exterior stages. The long linear twist derived from the road in the second photograph contrasts with the shorter spiky grass. These contrasting concepts directly relate to the design of the light fixtures placed in the main tasting areas.

Design Goals & Objectives:
• To create a larger interior space in order to accommodate customers in unpleasant weather while making the interior an entertainment space of its own. •To create an outside space for various interests and provide different types of seating, standing areas, and designated game areas. •To improve the circulation between the interior and exterior tasting areas by relocating the restroom.
•To provide a more convenient gift shop location. •To add an educational element to inform guests about the beer making process along with a larger view inside the factory. •To add an event space. •To provide a rentable facility available for Terrapin to work with an outside company to serve food.

Orginal photo from houzz.com After selecting an image off Houzz.com a reproduction was modeled with 3DS Max program. This was achieved by first building each element and shape. The next step was assigning the different materials and finishes. Lighting and shadows were applied afterward.

4) Commercial Project
Concept MBW is a personal injury law firm that will be located in Athens, Ga. This relaxing environment, designed for clients who have suffered injuries, is inspired by nature but also focuses on maintaining the productivity of the company. By creating one large hallway for attorneys and locating their assistants inbetween them, stronger relationships are created with nearby areas for collaboration. Additional areas, specifically a nap room and full plant wall, improve the overall work experience.

6) Concept Design Projects Constellations and the stories associated with them can teach lessons and values to many, simliar to the discipine and order that comes with the traditional japanese tea ceromony. Inspired by constellations this tea house is designed for the night ceronmony, Yogomi, and allows for star gazing by having an open roof. The tall surrounding bamboo fence encloses the space while moon flowers, and details in door handles along with dark wood stain remind the visitor that this teas house is reflecting the night sky.

Song Inspired Space Inspired by the song “Oh” by Eric Hutchinson this four story space starts at the bottom floor and transitions from a closed off room full of mirrors and darkness into a open room surrounded by light from windows. As one ascends up the stairs they continue to see less of themselves in their relfection and more of the outside world. This parallels the song’s message of one opening up their mind and becoming selfless.
