Golden Medal for Restructuring the Lithuanian Energy Sector Private limited liability company UAB Kauno energetikos remontas was granted the award “Lithuanian Product of the Year 2007” and golden medal for the project “Manufacture and installation of heating surface units for boilers-utlizers KU-125 in AB Mažeikių nafta”, also was nominated as the winner of the competition “Successfully Operating Company” of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists. UAB Kauno energetikos remontas is one of the biggest companies in Lithuania engaged in repair, modernization, installation, diagnostics of power machinery, manufacture and design of spare parts and various metal structures. The company provides services to power stations, industrial enterprises, building organizations, ship building yards in Lithuania and other countries. Among the most important and largest works of recent years are reconstruction of Units No 5, 6, 7 and 8 in the Lithuanian Power Plant in Elektrėnai, removal of harmful additives from smoke, installation of filters; reconstruction of distribution and transformer substations for AB Lietuvos energija (Lithuanian Power Company); installation of shunt reactor for Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant; reconstruction, installation, repair of boilers, turbines, generators and additional equipment, manufacture of spare parts for UAB Vilniaus energija; repair of turbines and generators, manufacture of spare parts for Kaunas Hydro Power Plant; modernization, installation, repair of boilers, turbines, generators and manufacture of spare parts for AB Mažeikių nafta; manufacture of building metal structures for UAB Vėtrūna, AB Panevėžio statybos trestas and other construction companies. How does the company perform the diagnostics of power machinery in energy objects? The laboratories of the company carry out the analysis of metal structures, metal used for pipelines and welded joints by destructive and non-destructive methods, complex diagnostics of voltage transformers, thermographical control of energetic equipment, electrical tests of electrical motors. In 2006-2007, the works were performed in various energy objects and industrial enterprises which were Lithuanian Power Plant, Kruonis Hydro Pump-Storage Plant, Kaunas Hydro Power Plant, AB Mažeikių nafta, UAB Vilniaus energija, UAB Cosmica, UAB Enerstena, VĮ Visagino energija, UAB Kauno TE, machinery plant in Alytus Astra. Specialists working in the welding section prepare welding inventory and technologies, coordinate welding works and organize training of welding specialists in the Welding Centre. 115 welders have been trained and certified according to the requirements of LST EN 287-1 standard within a year, 83 of which work in other companies, also 90 persons have been issued with welding supervision certificates, 79 of which work in other companies. Our company thinks it to be a serious input into the improvement of qualification of workers of all Lithuanian energy companies. Today, the company which was founded in 1945 is recognized as one of the strongest and most reliable among similar profile companies in Lithuania and fully ensures the stability in the Lithuanian energy sector. In the long run, the company became larger, increased its production volumes, enlarged personnel and educated the new generation of well-trained specialists. After the restoration of Lithuania’s Independence, the company successfully continues its activities under the modern market conditions. Every year, UAB Kauno energetikos remontas introduces new production based on state-of-the art technologies and equipment. If the last year, the company was granted the award for biofuel furnace (16 MW), so this year it was awarded the nomination “Product of the Year 2007” and golden medal for the project “Manufacture and installation of heating surface units for boilers-utlizers KU-125 in AB Mažeikių nafta”. In 2007, the company was also nominated as the winner of the competition “Successfully Operating Company” of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists.
the computer-run automated machine-tool for bending pipes. This productive machine tool will enable to significantly reduce the number of workers in the pipe bending operations. Nevertheless, it is its precision which is considered as the main advantage of the macvhine-tool. The technical development plan for 2008 envisages the acquisition of fully automated and computer-run metal cutting machine-tool which will save human labour resources, materials and speed up the work. The specialists of the company participate in repairs of power plants, improve technologies, specialize in repairs of turbines, boilers, transformers, generators, electric motors and other electrotechnical equipment. In cooperation with science and education establishments, UAB Kauno energetikos remontas has actively joined the process of modernization of the Lithuanian energy sector by timely and qualitatively performing all tasks and assignments. The company actively participates in activities of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists, Association of Kaunas Industrialists and Employers, Lithuanian Association of Bioenergy and Energy Saving, Lithuanian Electricity Association, Association of Construction Industry, Building Product Testing Laboratory Association, German Welders Association, Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, German and Baltic Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
How does the company plan its future activities?

In the future, we are planning to continue the introduction of modern technologies and equipment, modernisation of existing equipment and renovation of buildings. We already have the automated welding line and in the first quarter of 2008 are intending to buy

Bendrovės suvirinimo skyriaus specialistai rengia suvirinimo aprašus, technologijas, koordinuoja visos įmonės suvirinimo darbus ir organizuoja suvirinimo personalo rengimą Suvirinimo centre. Per metus parengta ir sertifikuota pagal standarto LST EN 287-1 reikalavimus 115 suvirintojų, iš jų 83 kitoms įmonėms. Parengti ir išduoti suvirinimo priežiūros meistrų pažymėjimai 90 žmonių, iš jų 79 kitoms įmonėms. Tai žymus indėlis į visos Lietuvos energetikos įmonių darbuotojų kvalifikacijos kėlimą. 1945 m. įkurta įmonė šiandien visuotinai pripažįstama kaip viena pajėgiausių ir patikimiausių Lietuvos įmonių, užtikrinanti Lietuvos energetikos ūkio darbo stabilumą. Ilgainiui įmonė plėtėsi, didėjo darbų apimtys, daugėjo darbuotojų, išugdyta aukštos kvalifikacijos šios srities specialistų karta. Be to, 2007 m. Lietuvos pramonininkų konfederacijos konkurse „Sėkmingai dirbanti įmonė” bendrovė taip pat pripažinta nugalėtoja. Kokia bendrovės veiklos perspektyva? Žvelgiant į ateitį ketinama įsigyti dar naujesnių technologijų ir įrenginių, modernizuoti veikiančius įrenginius bei rekonstruoti statinius. Be turimos automatizuotos suvirinimo linijos, planuojama 2008 m. pirmame ketvirtyje įsigyti kompiuteriu valdomas automatines vamzdžių lankstymo stakles. Tai labai našios ir šiuo metu bendrovei itin reikalingos staklės. Šios staklės leis žymiai sumažinti vamzdžių lankstymo operacijose dalyvaujančių darbuotojų skaičių. Tačiau energetikos įmonės specialistai, kaip didžiausią šių staklių pranašumą, įvardija jų tikslumą. 2008 m. techninės plėtros plane numatyta įsigyti metalo pjaustymo stakles, kurių valdymas visiškai automatizuotas − jos dirba pagal parengtą kompiuterinę programą. Tai labai našios staklės, kurios ne tik leis taupyti žmogiškuosius darbo išteklius, medžiagas, bet ir pastebimai paspartins darbą. Bendrovės specialistai dalyvauja remontuojant elektrines, toliau tobulina technologijas, specializuojasi įvairios galios turbinų, katilų, transformatorių, generatorių, elektros variklių bei kitų elektrotechninių įrenginių remonto srityje.
