Sized Up: A Discussion Exploring Eating Disorders and Body Dysmorphia in the Performing Arts

Saturday, September 11 at Noon | 75 Minutes | Zoom | 18+ | Pay What You Can (Suggested Price: $10)

For performers, our bodies are our resume. Working in a visual-medium, our appearances are under constant scrutiny: whether it’s from casting directors who tell us we don’t “fit” the part, audience members that critique an actor’s weight over their performance, or judgment from other performers, the risk of developing an eating disorder and body-dysmorphic behaviour are high in the entertainment industry.

In this workshop, Artist Sarah Marchand will share her experience living with an eating disorder and how she transformed her struggles into art. There will then be a discussion where participants are encouraged to share their own journeys in a safe space, followed by a creative exercise.

Trigger warnings: self-harm, eating disorders, sexism. Please make sure you are feeling emotionally available before registering. Take care of yourselves.
