Vanderbilt Executive MBA Offers a Unique Opportunity for Nonprofit Leaders

Vanderbilt offers an annual Nonprofit Scholarship, in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM), that will cover 100% of your tuition expenses so you can focus on what’s most important – honing your business skills to better serve our community.

Executives or senior staff members of qualified 501(c)3 organizations who have demonstrated commitment to serving in the nonprofit sector are eligible to apply.

Facts about the Scholarship:

n The scholarship award is valued at over $120,000.* n Candidates must meet all Executive MBA admissions requirements** and be admitted to be considered for the scholarship. n Candidates from all geographic regions will be considered. n Candidates do not have to be a member of the CNM to apply. The recipient will be given a membership free of charge. n The deadline is March 31.

Michael McSurdy

At the time Michael McSurdy was awarded the scholarship, he was the vice president of program services for the Oasis Center. He is now the CEO of Family and Children’s Service, which has been providing counseling and child well-being services across the state of Tennessee since 1943. Previously, he served as the director of foster care services for the Tennessee Department of Child Services.

Admissions

Candidates for the Nonprofit Scholarship must apply and be admitted to the Executive MBA program. Admissions requirements include: n At least 5 years of strong employment history and management expertise, with commitment to serving the nonprofit sector n Undergraduate transcripts (and graduate transcripts, if applicable) n Executive Assessment (EA) preferred or GMAT score (if you have an expired GMAT or GRE test score, please contact us)

Bettie

As CEO, Kirkland leads agency initiatives and social enterprises, overseeing staff, fundraising, and promoting the organization’s missions and vision, all while growing awareness of the issues stemming from mass incarceration. Under her leadership, Project Return has successfully launched 3 social enterprises, expanded to a second location, and won multiple awards, including the Regional Impact Award for business development and economic inclusion from the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, the Housing Leadership Award from TN Housing Development Agency, and two NEXT Awards for successful start-ups from the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.

Caballero assumed the role of President and CEO of Centro Hispano de East Tennessee (Centro Hispano) in 2016. She shapes Centro Hispano’s strategic vision. Among her major accomplishments, she has spearheaded a strategic rebrand that more than tripled revenue, diversified board leadership, and ensured financial sustainability by reengineering the funding model.
