AT OUR MOTHER of GOOD COUNSEL, ,young Priest from Wisconsin

1/7/15 OMGC, young priest from Wisconsin...thoughts & prayers for this young man...doing his best at the parish in los feliz having come from the midwest...it's a completely different atmosphere here with all the various social 6

issues that you don't have so much in wisconsin...I think he's handling it fairly well, but I hope the english-as-a-second-language (ESL) crowd don't manipulate him too much ... PRAYER for fr joe scott at st paul apostle

7

1/7/15 thoughts & prayers for Fr. Joe Scott at St. Paul Apostle...he seems to be the primary priest for daily mass, but not so often at weekend mass. There's something different about him...I don't always feel uplifted or edified by his presence or homily...: and seems like he almost growled at me one time after mass...when I was still in the pew reflecting...and he was in a hurry to close the doors and lock them...rare thing for a catholic church to be in such a hurry to lock up...most churches stay open rather casually for people to come in early or late and pray; and so I ask for you all to pray for Fr. Joe and St. Paul Apostle...that the LIGHT may shine in fully and whatever may be causing anybody any 8

distress ...that the Holy Spirit may lift the burden off them, and take away their concerns...; let there be LIGHT ! Posted by RANDOM by RANDOM BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST at 2:25 PM No comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

"Pastor Emeritus Reverend Colm O'Ryan was pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd from 1990 to 2009. In his retirement, he continues to preside at Mass and help in parish ministry. Father Colm still presides at Sunday Masses and the 12 noon Mass during the week. Father Colm attended Saint John's Seminary and was 10

ordained a priest in 1955. During his many years as a priest he has served in the following parishes: St. Elizabeth in Altadena, Holy Trinity in Atwater Village, St. Patrick in North Hollywood, Our Lady of Victory in Compton, St. Paschal Baylon in Thousand Oaks and Good Shepherd."

Fwd: Good Shepherd Beverly hills, fr. Tom , thoughts, prayers, encouragment

13

12/15/14 attended noon mass at good shepherd Beverly hills today..Father Tom presided ...he's quite a character..I remember when he first arrived..it's always awkward when a new priest arrives ...all the long-time parishioners know the routine and layout of the church and also know the new priest does NOT know everything..doesn't know the people, the parishioners, the community, the neighborhood...and so the priest has to make a decision to somehow "take control" (as most 14

priests think they need to do ) while also not being authoritarian and thereby alienate the entire congregation...let's face it we the people want a friend in the pulpit...we want a "brother" more than a father....and so it's been interesting watching Fr. Tom evolve as such..I'm not sure what the consensus is..I just hope he is becoming accustomed to everything at good shepherd and that he feels the love of the body of Christ..and that he continues to grow and not feel as if he must be "in control" but simply be a beacon of love ...help facilitate love ! 12/8/14 at st catherine laboure church, torrance, ca ...I think the main priest is from India...he repeatedly says "My Dear Friends" throughout every mass...it's an idiosyncrasy ..sometimes becomes distracting..but everybody LOVES LOVES this priest very much..he is always of good cheer, level disposition..and clearly very caring about the church and parishioners. I'm always amazed h ow much some of the priests who come from other countries are able to care & empathize 17

with the local people here in California ...they really do LOVE us Posted by RANDOM by RANDOM BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST at 1:44 PM No comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

25

11/24/14 @ Good Shepherd Beverly Hills, Do they have a Parking lot monitor now ? who is the guy staring at me in the parking lot (not shown)? wasn't sure if he was a transient from the nearby public space or if he was monitoring the parking lot. He stared at me as if he had authority over the parking lot, but then sometimes homeless have that sense of entitlement as well...if the church is paying somebody to monitor the lot I wish he could have some sort of identification and be friendly Posted by RANDOM by RANDOM BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST at 10:55 AM No comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

11/26/14 at Christ Cathedral Garden Grove 630am, mass, some constructive words for the priest 26

27

11/26/14 @ Christ Cathedral Garden Grove, 630am mass...not sure the name of the priest on duty this morning...he has a dialect of some sort...younger fellow...maybe latino?...anyways, two things that sort of disconcert me...he recites not only the priests words of the liturgy but the parishioners as well...normally, the priest reads his lines and the parishioners respond while the priest remains silent, but he says our words as well...it seems like a "control" thing, as if he feels he needs to keep talking to maintain 28

control...afraid of us? we are ONE in the Spirit, ONE in the LORD..show some trust towards "the people" and let us have a little bit of a voice as well..you have the microphone so you also drown us out when you speak out part as well; 2nd, we ALL know the liturgy and when to sit and stand, so why, when we KNOW very well it is time to sit, do you say, "Please be seated." This too seems like a subtle control thing, given you know we know very well it is time to sit. These "little" things point to issues with the priest that are unfair to the parishioners who all come to the church on our own time, with our own gas money, and donate our own money to the church, and simply expect to be treated decently, not like little kids. I know of no other priests who say "please be seated", and only a few who also have the control need to say the parishioners words as well as their own priest words. 11/23/14 AT GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH in Sun VALLEY, CA....this church is always packed..john macarthur always preaches..very serious demeanor..takes time pointing to various verses in the Bible throughout the message..i was at the Lives of the Reformers conference the previous day...and stayed another day for the church service.. was also here a few weeks ago for the creation conference. This church definitely respects the 35

Reformers & Biblical Creation...; I came from Calvin College & my childhood denomination was very reformed and very calvinist so it's nice to find a place in southern Cal that actually likes and respects Calvinism. so I continue to pray for Msgr. Sork & the SJF congregation...my experience there not being the most positive..I am hoping that some time away with prayer may help a later return 40

whereupon I can feel a bit more welcomed as a fellow member of the body of Christ...but I can pray more easily more knowledgeable if I know at least a little bit about a person...so here's a little more about our Beloved monsignor... he apparently is a native Angeleno ...and worked in an administraive position for a while as well as in the catholic parish in La Puente for some time... (elsewhere I noticed he worked in new york as well for a while...) "...Msgr. Gilb, now retired as pastor emeritus, was succeeded in 1999 as pastor by Msgr. David Sork, also a native Angeleno ordained from St. John's in 1970, who previously served 10 years in the Religious Education Office and was pastor of St. Louis of France, La Puente, for 12 years. He currently is overseeing construction of a new St. John Fisher Church — a tribute to the dedication of both the parish community and its remarkable patron41

10/19/14 re saddleback church

so I was at the 9am service today...rick warren appeared via video, said he will be at the church in person next week, ... above: "your love never fails...never gives up..."

"For God & Country" played at the beginning of the service...great music...one of the brother's however had to go bck to Nashville to help with their new baby...thoughts & prayers...I sat outside...two dudes wearing flipflops & shorts with their gals on both sides of me...I still have a difficult time being too casual at church.....it's just a part of my DNA I 50

guess from growing up...but I have gotten good about untucking my shirt and wearing casual pants...definitely no tie; I recently sent an email to a friend say, around southern Cal you have to know which establishment is a "tuck-in" or "un-tuck" kind of place...or you might get some highbrows looking down on you..

51

...i often am brought back to Grand Rapids in my mind & thoughts & prayers...thinking of those I knew growing up...school, church...socially, ...athletics.. etc.. and of course pastors...our family attended 1st CRC on Bates Street ...an inner-city church..not sure why my parents chose this church..definitely not the closest to our house..we could have walked to Seymour CRC on Alger street for that matter..almost right across the street but our parents wanted to drive to 1st crc..they still haven't explained it to me.. anyways..our first pastor was Terpstra...I was too young to interact much with him...but later we had Morris Greidanus...(i think he's originally from canada...his father was a professor at the seminary)...and I was in high school at the time I decided to make profession of faith..and so I had to go to him and discuss my faith and 55

beliefs and then also had to do so with all the deacons and elders ...and finally the big day came and I made my profession before the congregation.. and I still proudly show my certificate of profession to this day (it's online !) .. and now I'm im california so I pray for Morris Greidanus...by the way, he forgot to sign it..and later I had to mail it to him for his signature..(did he truly forget or was he trying to "diss" me?) ...my faith is REAL....I love the Lord with ALL my heart, mind, & soul..yes I do..and later I went to our Christian college..got a bachelors degree..and another bachelors and did some mission work overseas...and some more..and taught school...and finally returned to my formal calling..going to seminary back in grand rapids..and then continuing in california at another seminary.. and I started my own ministry..and started telling the Good News in the street ..online..and wherever I had the opportunity..and that's my ministry..that's my 56

faith being lived out...not in a pulpit in a church building but in the pulpit of life.. ...but I am here to pray for Morris and his dad, Sid, too..may the Lord be with them..may they continue to grow in Christ and not look at us thru a Canadian lens.. but thru Christo-lens. Christ-filled eyes, hearts, and minds! God bless Posted by RANDOM by RANDOM BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST at 2:03 PM No comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: 1st christian reformed church, 1st crc, calvin college, calvin seminary, morris greidanus, sid greidanus

...and since I mentioned Fr. Zak in my prayer for St. John Fisher (palos verdes) it is fitting to seque over to Incarnation church in glendale...as mentioned I began attending before Zak arrived..I remember most distinctly one particular lady in the pulpit who was ALWAYS there..and had a very LOUD voice..and she seemed unusual..almost robotic..after a while it became a distraction..almost a turn-off..something so unusual about her...and so I would often just peak in..or sit there for a short while and then 57

leave..I felt as if she were controlling the atmosphere..like it was her turf..and then suddenly just as long as she had been there..one day she was gone..and I haven't seen her ever since that time..I hope she is well, but also hope she is growing in Christ..most importantly..more so than seemed to be happening with her at incarnation.. it was such a strange phenomena that I avoided incarnation for a while..even though I enjoyed the homilies of the various priests, including fr. Eugene ...he is an elderly retired priest but very active.. always giving a rigorous sermon..and there were a few others who have come and gone..and now Zak is the lead priest, Eugene is still there..and a few others I don't know much about.. and there is the guy with the suit..seems Armenian, which is likely, given this is Glendale..he is always in a suit...always assisting at the mass.. seems to love the mass liturgy..but kind of like a "boss" type...makes it a bit difficult to relax and focus 58

on God when he's around.. again there's a bit of a feeling as if he's established the church as his "turf"...now that the other lady is gone...my prayer is that nobody should be trying to establish domination in a church building..it's for everybody who believes..to come together and edify the Lord and each other..That's my prayer..and I hope my presence doesn't feel as if I am trying to establish anything either..I can assure you when i drop in to a church it's to be re-filled with the Spirit..keeps me out of trouble.. hear my prayer Lord! st john fisher, sork, palos verdes

re St. John Fisher Church in Palos Verdes..for a while I was exploring the PV area..and attending the various churches ..and Fisher church is way up at the very top of the hill...some good hiking trails not far away..as well as a beautiful view over the ocean towards Catalina Island...i've spent some time 59

hiking rattlesnake trail and other areas as well...part of my ministry philosophy is that you need to know "the ground" around you when you do missions or ministry..get a feel of the "hood" (neighborhood) by walking around, exploring, reading local material, etc before you pronounce judgment. Jesus was "peripatetic" as well (meaning he moved around)... anyways..during my peripatetic time in palos verdes I periodically dropped in for mass services at John Fisher where Fr. Sork is the administrating pastor, and often presiding in the pulpit. At the time I first wandered in there, there was also a Fr. Zak (who moved on to Incarnation in Glendale, ironically..another church I often attended frequently for a while..now a little less frequent but still can be found there from time-to-time) ..and this was before they built the new church..I watched the progress of that building for many months. The only problem I have with St. John fisher is that I never felt 60

completely comfortable there..I always felt as if I was being looked upon with suspicion even though I wasn't doing anything wrong...nor on the run from the law..not a criminal..not a pedophile..just a decent person..yes a sinner but still decent and growing in Christ..in fact sometimes more than decent but positively good and commendable..a good citizen...even Anglo for that matter.. a white boy done good...and a person who spent diligent time and work studying for two bachelor's degrees as well as a masters in divinity.. I don't deserve to be treated as if I am a suspicious person...anyways.. because of this "chilly" atmosphere (by just a few, but it only takes a few ...as they say) I started attending less and less frequently..and after the new church was built and attending a few times I finally decided enough was enough..I just never could break thru the ice there.. maybe some of it has to do with supercilliousness of the neighborhood...sort of a real estate thing..you 61

either live there or you don't...it's not for lowincome people..at least not owning a house..but there are also apartments in the area..somebody has to work at the grocery stores & gas stations..don't they go to church too? I don't fit in either category..not a working class person nor interested in a home with a view...my only interest is to keep doing God's will and telling the Good News..my education alone gives me credentials to be a church pastor...even a priest..but I'm doing ministry in a different way for the time being..there's nothing wrong with that is there? I pray for the Lord's hand to be upon me as well. and so I just leave it up to the Lord according to His Will for St. John Fisher and the parishioners and the priests..for the Holy Spirit to be present at the church..HEAR MY PRAYER LORD ! and at St. John the Baptist church in Costa Mesa..this has been a church I've periodically as well as regularly attended over the years.. I really enjoy this group of priests..relatively young (late 40's, early 50's)...and a few of them definitely with midwest style which resonates positively with me.. ..I found out a bit about a few of them..just from online public material.. the lead pastor (Augustine Puchner) is from brookfield wisconsin...that's the only one about whom I could find some roots information... there's also an africanamerican priest (claude williams) who is a good guy...impressive especially in the latin mass ...doesn't miss a beat.. and there's also godfrey bushmaker (what a name !) & andrew tran (asian)..and the list goes on..all of them good guys..may God be with them and bless them and may they continue to fill us up with the Good News and the body & blood of Christ, and the power of the Holy SPirit ! re Fr. Jeremiah @ St. Victor church in west hollywood...I still go there periodically, mostly the Monday evening service...when I first started attending Jeremiah was walking & talking..seemingly healthy..then one day I showed up and he was in a wheelchair and needed assistance ..not sure what happened..seems like it has become a permanent thing now...one time when I first started attending @ st victor he caught me in the eye from the pulpit...I was sitting in the pew and he just stared directly at me..it was kind of eery..not sure what to make of it, but now I avoid directly looking at him..I'm just there to be re-filled with the Holy Spirit..to be in fellowship with other believers..and keep me going..so I can serve the Lord to the best of my abilities. I am only human too...I need prayers and the presence of the Spirit and the benevolence of others just as much as anybody else.. so God be with Fr. Jeremiah..we hope and pray that he is truly 64

re St. Basil Church, Los Angeles, on Wilshire...i periodically attend there..started doing so many years ago at the 630am mass...stumbled on this GIGANTIC CHURCH in mid-town L..A. and it was a bastion of safety for me...Fr. Frank preached some good homilies with a LOT of STRENGTH & FORCE...very inspirational to hear his voice BOOM thru the large building, echoing off the walls.. prayers for Frank...Ive seen various priests come & go from Basil over the past few years.. most recently I saw a new priest (new to me anyways)..Fr. James was in the pulpit on 10/12/14...sounded a bit like a British accent..young fellow..one of the announcers said it was his 5th year in the priesthood..God bless him....hope he is being truly led by the 65

Lord and Holy Spirit in his ministry...God bless St. Basil, Fr. Frank and all the parishioners and staff...Let us be truly united as the body of Christ. ! re Father Harrigan at Holy Trinity Church in Los Angeles...last time I went there I didn't see his name in the bulletin anymore. Did he leave? Was he re-assigned? He had been there for SO long...; I hope and pray that all is well for Harrigan...God be with him and bless him. And with the other priests at HT...including Fr. Peacha from India...I think he's still there. I wonder how Robert H. Schuller is doing? The only news I can find is from his son's blog (Robert A. Schuller)..and last thing RA said was that RH asked about going fishing in Mexico and RA told him he isn't capable of doing that sort of thing anymore. Is RH really an invalid now? Or is the family just sort of "tired" of 66

being a "caretaker"? I hope they aren't just "letting him go" so to speak. I really have a lot of respect & admiration for what RH did in Orange County with the Crystal Cathedral. It's an amazing feat to pull all the people and money and plans together to build such an impressive church building and campus. Hear my prayer,Lord, for Robert Harold Schuller, an Iowa boy (like me) who did well as a pastor for so many years...and thru no fault of his own (as best as I can tell) saw all his work diminished by the havoc created by [no names mentioned]...my only hope out of all the mess is that this [the protestant crystal cathedral] was a "kernel" that had to die in order for new seeds to grow and thrive.Let us hope & pray that the catholic Christ cathedral is the "real deal" and will truly be a Spirit-filled evangelical positive happy God-blessed place for years to come... did anybody make it to saddleback church this past Sunday (10/12/14) ? I wasn't able to make it. I was wondering if Rick Warren was in the pulpit (meaning actually physically present at the lake forest campus)? And I pray for Rick & Kay...they seem to be SO BUSY..especially Rick..preaching every sunday somewhere.. and his daily radio show. it must be very difficult, plus the recent mental health online program..and the list goes on. Let us keep the Warrens in our prayers..that their ministry is truly inspired & called by God..that they are truly in the Spirit of Christ...fill their cup Lord ! re Ron Keller @ Mariners Church (Irvine): I wasn't able to make it to the sunday 11am class (10/12/14) with Ron Keller...did anybody make it. I hope and pray that all is well for Ron Keller & that he is truly called & inspired by God to teach "the people" and that his teachings are true to the word of God...and I 68

pray for Mariners church in general..for zimmerman and the Beshores, and all the rest.We hope and pray they are truly called and inspired & sincere in their work as pastors for God ! was Brian Broderson in the pulpit on Wedneesday (10/15/14) ? ...i wasn't able to make it...i wonder if he is still "lying low" after the lawsuit revelation? I hope and pray that this matter is resolved quietly..and hope & pray that Brian didn't "allow" Chuck Smith to die (or give orders to allow)...And I pray that Brian can be a truly sincere, capable, effective leader for calvary chapel costa mesa. Is he truly inspired & called to do what he is doing? We hope & pray so...time will tell. ... 10/8/14 re Brian Broderson @ CCCM,IS he laying low? I stopped in at the wednesday evening service ("bible study") & Brian wasn't there The macho bald guy introduced Pete Nelson as the guest preacher.Wondering if the recent family lawsuit implicating Broderson means Brian plans to "lay low" for a while, until it blows over. Also,a new calvary chapel (at large) pastor talked about starting acalvary chapel in san francisco. Also hanging around the door was the chubby little black guy,now dressed down in casual clothes but a bit too obviously still in "security"mode. 70

Anyways,I have "yellow flagged" CCCM for the time being given the lawsuit. Is there any possible truth that Brian allowed (or gave instructions to allow) Chuck Smith to die, rather than call 911? Time will tell.Let's hope & pray not,&pray that Brian is the real deal,a good guy, authentically in Christ! Sunday, October 5, 2014 WELCOME !

WELCOME ! SO I think God impressed it upon me as I was leaving a church today that I (or we) need to be praying MORE for our pastors, priests, church leaders, ministers, reverends, et al...whatever you wish to call those who serve the body of Christ as leaders, especially those who interpret & deliver the Word of God to the people. Clearly, ALL types of church leaders (musicians, youth group, sunday school, etc ) need our prayers as we also need the prayers of the church leaders, but I am especially concerned about those who are in 71

positions of strong authority in the church and whose decisions have very meaningful (for better or worse) and lasting impact on the body of Christ, near & far. This blog is about honest prayer, stating clearly & frankly those things which I (or we) see that may be matters of concern. Let's face it, as our senior pastors age & enter their "golden years" they still maintain a humongous amount of influence, and some are not inclined whatsoever to "retire" or hand-off the baton to others. Thus, a pastors with a 50's perspective on life may still be preaching as the main pulpit person still in the 2014 era & beyond. This is NOT to say the 50's are bad or good, but that whatever era one is born &/or grows up in influences almost everything they say, think, do, & interpret, including the gospel. While they may be interpreting the gospel in a correct manner, they are still filtering it to a 72

certain extent in accordance with their own lifestyle, personal experiences, gender, age, race, skin color, & the list goes on. This "filter" isn't "right" or "wrong" ...it just simply is something that is part of every single person's modus operandi (m.o.). For example, I periodically attend a Bible study (actually one pastor lectures to us for an hour with a few questions at the end) which consists of an older leader and mostly older attendees (ie 60's & up). It is clear to me that my presence, if I do not remain somewhat of a "wallflower" is of concern to some in the audience, as if they are intent on maintaining a point-of-view for the elderly; and do not want a "young-un" (old country slang for a "young one" ) getting "too big for his britches" in the class. And so I remain quiet and in the background. 73

But what concerns me is that the true gospel while being preached or taught by the pastor (who does his best to incorporate greek & other aspects of good exegesis) may be going in one ear and out the other of the audience who are more intent on having an hour of relative peace in a cool room on a hot day, with a few snacks & drinks to sip on while listening. Thus, prayers for the parishioners need to be included as well, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the pastor to recognize this phenomena and address it accordingly rather than simply "go with the flow." Hence, the pendulum turns back to the pastor. And this is always the case: The pastor or pastors of each & every church must be working every day to maintain a healthy ecclesiastical organization that truly reflects God's intention for the body of Christ. The 74

church cannot become a club whereby the pastor is at the top of the luxury pyramid, and various others in order downward. Yet, that is my concern: there are big and small churches, especially some megachurches where the pastor becomes a celebrity of sorts, and the church becomes "Joe Celebrity #1's" church and "Joe Celebrity #2's" church. Maybe I especially am wary of that because I attend some of the large churches in southern California...maybe there's more of that around here than other places; but nonetheless, every church is always in a state of flux for better or worse and the pastor needs to be able to control his or her ego so that it is for the better, rather than for the worse. And so I will be posting my thoughts & prayers about these churches & pastors periodically so that I TOO may have a voice. By the way, I too 75

am a pastor by education & calling, albeit I do not have a physical pulpit or a church building to call my "own." I do street ministry & online ministry among other things, but feel sometimes that I am getting "quashed" by the big-wigs at some of the large churches where the pastor's are known worldwide by name; and they have much wealth & influence so that people kowtow ( "...act in an excessively subservient manner. "she didn't have to kowtow to a boss" grovel to, be obsequious to, be servile to, be sycophantic to, fawn over/on, cringe to, bow and synonyms: scrape to, toady to, truckle to, abase oneself before, humble oneself to;..."https://www.google.com/search? q=cowtow&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

to them (like employees do around their "boss." ) And once again, this concerns me when a pastor becomes too much like a "boss" and has security all around the church to maintain total devotion, focus, & respect towards the pulpit. That's not to say we should be 76

irreverent or disrespectful towards the pastors and/or the pulpit, but that there needs to be some give-&-take whereby the parishioners do not become mere lackies" ( " A group of people that cant think for themselves, and have a Boss that does the thinking for them. Anyone that lacks the inteligence to figure it out for themselves." http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lacky )

YET, on the other hand, I understand why some pastor's feel the need to control because we live in a society where people are more & more selfish & egotistical, ... yes, including many who attend church, unfortunately. So, once again, the pendulum swings back at the parishioners and our prayers for their (our) true conversion...of total heart, mind, & soul for Christ. I begin this blog with a prayer for Rick Warren @ saddleback church. I heard his message at the main campus this morning (he appeared via video; seems to be less & less often actually at the church...my concern being that 77

he may be over-extending himself; and by the way, he personally lambasted bloggers during his message...which made me sit up a bit because I spend a lot of time blogging...positively blogging that is..while he was criticizing bloggers for being critical, saying "how easy" it is to be critical...and that you can "train a monkey" to be critical. My question or retort was what about being critical from the pulpit? How easy is that as well? To be fair, I understand his concern about critical bloggers. There are those who seem to thrive on being negative about anything & everything...when YouTube first began the comment section almost ruined the entire video website...so much so that YouTube finally revamped it so that it is now much more difficult to ruin people's websites by negative comments (in fact you can turn off comments altogether if you wish, thank 78

God...truly thank God). However, on the other hand, we need good editorials, thoughtful articles, educated bloggers et al keeping tabs on what is happening in society...from politics and the president to sports & concerts & hollywood, and YES also the church & our pastors. Our pastors are human too and we need to also thoughtfully & fairly criticize them just as much as they do to us. I'm not talking about Joe Schmoe who dropped out of school to work at a convenience store dropping Fbombs and other perversions in comment boxes or personal blogs. I'm talking about good decent persons who also attend church but do NOT have a voice AT the church...but who deserve to be heard . It's only right & fair. Next, I will add a thought & prayer for Ron Keller at Mariners church who teaches a class at 11am every sunday. He's a decent fellow 79

and always comes prepared with a paper handout/outline for everybody. And he speaks "frankly" and loudly about anything & everything, including other churches with which he disagrees. To be fair, his criticisms are incorporated into the topic of his lecture for that day, but nonetheless, he doesn't hold back in naming names & churches with which he disagrees and/or dislikes. Sometimes I agree with what he says; other times I may either disagree or wish to add a "footnote" or nuance to what he is saying. And that's one of the problems with pastors who are sometimes "larger than life." Their sermons, homilies, messages, lectures, et al often tend to generalize & categorize...sometimes too much black-&white, without any gray. It makes for more dynamic speaking & preaching, BUT is it always the full truth ? 80

Which leads me to note that Jesus Himself was "peripatetic." This comes from Greek meaning one who moves around, wanders, works in different places, et al. It's not to say He was "homeless" in the negative connotation it has today, but that he PURPOSELY moved around and stayed "mobile." He didn't spend a lot of time at one place preaching a prepared sermon with three points to write down aon a sheet of paper. So in my prayers for pastors I may be adding thoughts about whether our modern style of worship & preaching is truly in accord with God's will for the church. Does it truly help us "be all we can be"? I am running out of time for now...have to go..and so I will leave this intro & welcome as is for now...stay tuned for more thoughts & prayers for our pastors et al. God bless you all...please join in with prayers ..maybe at 81

some time I will allow public posting to this site....
