Selecting a Location I work with four basic location styles. The Spokane area offers many locations for each style. Country: Anything area with golden/wispy tall grass...a little more wildernessy Orchards: I love working with all kinds of orchards. Whether you get the blossoms or the fruit will depend on the time of year.
Parks: Parks are perfect if you like the green nature but more groomed and clean Classic urban: this is not your typical high school senior graffiti photos. Classic Urban is about beautiful buildings and sidewalks and other structures that just look classy or elegant.
-What to wearOne of the most common questions I get once a session is booked is. “What should I wear?” Once the location has been chosen, we can then choose outfits to match! Your clothes should compliment the location. High heels look on a field look just about as silly as boots on a beach. Now that we’ve established your style goes with your location, let me give you some tips and tricks. -Things I loveSoft neutrals. Mint Green. Tangerine. Maxie Dresses. High Low Skirts and Dresses. Belts. Scarves. Chunky Jewelry. Boots. Chunky Heels. High Wasted Shorts and Skirts. -Things to Keep in Mind. *Solid Black and Solid White doesn’t always photograph well. I can loose detail. So before you choose a solid black dress, lets have a chit chat and see if it will work with your location. *Please bring the proper undergarments for each outfit. Bra straps are not a great look and cannot be edited out. It’s always a good idea to bring “spanks” or something like it when wearing a a dress of skirt. It will help you feel much more confident during tricky poses. *Please be careful not to get too much sun. Tan lines and sunburns are NOT a good look. A little sun is good. Too much is not. *Try and schedule all hair cuts and color sessions at one to two weeks prior to your session. Its’s not very fun to have that just cut look in your photos and if your color is off you’ll be unhappy with your photos. *Your hands will show in your photos so make sure that your nails are filed and clean. Bold colors are not always the best choice with every outfit but clear nail polish and french manicures always look pretty.
-Making Your Session UniqueOne of my favorite thing about each session is figuring out how to make it unique to just you. One of the ways to do this is to bring “props”. This really adds variety to your session. Think of family “erlumes” that you love; Jewelry or a handmade blanket. You’ll be able to look back on your photos thirty years from now and say, “That was your great grandmothers necklace.” Those photos will be treasures. Things that show your interests are wonderful as well if done in an un-tacky way. If you love flowers, buy a bouquet before your session. Old bicycles are super cute! Even floppy hats and scarves can add a lot to an otherwise boring session. Variety is the spice of life!
-Hair and Makeup-
-Post SessionAfter your session is finished, I will select the best images to be edited. Editing of your images can take up to three weeks. Once your images are finished and perfect, I will set up an in-person ordering session at a local coffee shop where we can sip on yummy coffee and look at your gallery and order any prints and products you might want. Each session comes with a print credit built into the price for you to use on prints! Three days prior to the ordering session, I will email you to let you know that your private gallery has been activated and give you the password to view it. Please make sure you will have adequate time to look over your photos before we meet to place your order. That way you will have a good idea which photos are your favorites, and what prints and other products you might want to order. The ordering session is the PERFECT time to ask any questions about products. I love helping to choose what sizes would look best on the walls, and what collages are great to have at graduation parties. Even though it seems so far away, this is also when you will probably want to order graduation party invitations since once you place your order, it costs $20.00 to re-activate it. I’ll place your order the day of the ordering session and it should be in your hands within 5-7 business days.
