Career Exploration Assignment

Career Exploration is the process of learning more about yourself in identifying careers interests of your choice. It also provides an opportunity for students to assess their fit by reflecting upon their interests, skills, values, and personality. This provides the opportunity to learn about various careers/occupations that align with your career preferences.

For this assignment, students are required to submit a one-page double-spaced self-reflection essay. The essay questions will provide an opportunity to reflect on the career exploration process in assessing careers/occupations of your interest. It will allow students to reflect upon their interests, skills, values, and personality to continue learning more about themselves and how it aligns with their perspective career interests. Students will be expected to apply their research findings by answering the essay questions listed below. Please ensure the essay questions are included in your paper.

Essay Questions

1. Provide the job titles of the two occupations/careers that you have decided to explore. Please provide a brief overview about the two occupations/careers you’ve selected to research.

2. Of all the Career Paths you’ve discovered, which two paths are you most interested in learning more about at this time? What excites you about these occupations? What are some areas that are of concern? Was there anything that surprised you that you didn’t know before?

3.What are the major similarities and differences in these two career paths? What do you want to learn more about moving forward?

4. Will those occupations provide the rewards and satisfactions you want? Why?

5. Of the two career paths you’ve researched in more depth, which one appears to be a better match for your interests?

6. Of the two career paths you’ve researched in more depth, which one appears to be a better match for your skills? What personal qualities do you see as your strengths?

7. Of the two career paths you’ve researched in more depth, which one appears to be a better match for your values (i.e. what do you find most important in life)?

8.What are your next steps in helping you continue enhancing your career exploration? What are 2-3 action items you plan to do in furthering your career exploration.
