We have come a long way since 2010 when we sta ed out as pa of the Van Iperen Group, a 100-years-old family business in the fe ilizer industry. From the very beginning, Van Iperen International aimed to change agriculture for the be er. Throughout these years, our size may have changed, but not our way of working – the grower is at the centre of everything we do.

We work together with local pa ners and operate close to our clients in more than 100 countries on all continents. During the last years, we grew as a producer and worldwide distributor of specialty fe ilizers under our own brand. Currently, the vast majority of our products are of mineral origin. We are proud of our background. But in the meantime, we also focus on new developments combining R&D, Innovation, Flexibility, and Sustainability. Our experience is an extra asset in doing so.

AtVan Iperen International, we firmly believe that suppo ing sustainable business practices and innovations makes a di erence. For this reason, we embark on the Green Switch Journey. This transformation path includes sustainable-oriented projects and accountable actions. By doing so, we are building a more resilient agriculture.

As a milestone of this journey, we’ve recently launched Plants for Plants®, the first fully controlled plant-based biostimulants. In 2019, Plants for Plants® was awarded a grant by LIFE, the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. This new range focuses on the key elements of plant nutrition –Water Use E ciency (WUE), Nutrient Use E ciency (NUE), and Biostimulation. Sounds good, right?

Van Iperen International o ers you the widest range of Specialty Fe ilizers and Biostimulants for fe igation and foliar application. Our product range consists of Essentials -a range of fundamental purely mineral water soluble and liquid fe ilizers- and High Pe orming Solutions (HPS) -a range of innovative fe ilizers focused on Nutrition and Biostimulation.

In this way, we provide the grower with essential nutrients to feed their plants and sustainable solutions for be er Nutrient Use E ciency (NUE) and Water Use E ciency (WUE), improved Abiotic Stress Tolerance, and greater Crop Quality.

Implementation of the new European Fe iliser Product Regulation (EU) 2019/1009

At Van Iperen International, we celebrate the implementation of the FPR (EU) 2019/1009 with a complete list of biostimulants and mineral fe ilizers compliant with the new regulation! Since the law’s publication in 2019, our Regulatory depa ment has prepared the ground in order to assess our products according to the new rules.

Thanks to the FPR (EU) 2019/1009, growers will have easier access to a wider range of high-quality e cient fe ilizers and biostimulants.

This new law recognizes the uniqueness of these high-quality products in the European market. But what does it mean for end-users? European law acknowledges plant biostimulants as a distinct category of agricultural inputs and guarantees the claimed e ects in the products. At the same time, this regulation facilitates equal access to biostimulants for all growers across the European Union.

The FPR requires more knowledge and control over fe ilizer production and quality control. As a manufacturer, Van Iperen International remains the responsible pa y for upholding each product assessment. For this reason, our Regulatory depa ment has taken a proactive roadmap to assess our whole range of Specialty Fe ilizers.

With this process, Van Iperen ensures that each agronomical claim linked to our products is based on accurate data and, subsequently, the end user gets a suitable solution registered under the CEmarked biostimulant. For us, it is an oppo unity to legitimize our products. We have run a full company and production site audit by KIWA and all in all we have the o cial ce ificate for most of our products. Undoubtedly, this is an impo ant milestone to make conventional agriculture more reliable & sustainable!

The Green Switch Journey is our forward-looking roadmap to make conventional agriculture more sustainable. Our journey depicts the development, introduction, and implementation of innovations in agriculture and concrete actions with a sustainable approach.

Our Green Switch Journey includes revolutionary processes and actions that meet the requirements for sustainable food production. Our goal is not only to develop innovative solutions but to implement them in conventional crop farming. For it, all our projects are based on:

Low Carbon footprint. Improving the e ciency of our supply chain process has a positive benefit in the reduction of emissions from agriculture. Van Iperen introduces innovative production processes powered by renewable electricity with low CO2 impact of their activity.

Circular economy. Van Iperen addresses one of the most impo ant issues across industries: the existence of by-products treated as wastes and discarded immediately to waste disposal. Within this circular economy framework, the re-use of waste products as input for crops brings new oppo unities to close the loops in agriculture and other industries. By implementing our technologies, we prevent economic value loss.

Low Carbon footprint and circular-economy production processes are the cornerstones of our strategy. In this way, we can change the rules of the game in plant nutrition providing innovative solutions to growers for making conventional agriculture more sustainable.

Levels of action within our Green Switch Journey

Besides new production processes and solutions, Van Iperen International has developed specific actions to follow within our Green Switch Journey. In concrete, we come up with three action lines to implement:

CO2 Transparency Policy

We do not see purchasing o sets as a solution to our emissions. Our way to reduce CO2 emissions involves a revolutionary change and a di erent approach. For it, a number of key areas have been selected that will allow us to demonstrate reductions in the carbon emissions generated by our activities.

Social Responsibility Program

Our commitment to society goes beyond agriculture. For this reason, we are pa of Ho Ivoire, a soilless vegetable production training program open to young farmers and women to improve yields and quality and diversify the types of crops in Ivory Coast.

LIMA (‘Less Is More in Agriculture‘)

A pioneering program/ initiative to sma -use resources in agriculture. The LIMA approach allows growers to produce more with less, achieve greater crop yield, and minimize the environmental impact through more e cient use of resources.

By taking these steps, we promote an easy transition in agriculture, reducing the impact of the conventional production of mineral fe ilizers. Let’s make the green switch!

GreenSwitch® Nitrate, fe ilizing a green future! GreenSwitch® Potassium, driving agriculture innovation

A fossil fuel free production process to transform recovered salts (residue) from the paper industry and electric car ba eries into sustainable Potassium Sulphate (SOP) fe ilizers. GreenSwitch® Potassium is the outcome of a new cross-sector pa nership with Cinis Fe ilizer.

But how does it work? Around 200,000 tons per year of sodium sulphate salts -recovered as a residue from other industries- will be upcycled with a close to zero carbon footprint, powered entirely by clean energy. Water, heat, energy, and other materials that, would be otherwise wasted, are also recovered and recirculated to make a clean, high-tech, and green mineral fe ilizer.

Based on Pure Green Agriculture technology, the GreenSwitch® process produces sustainable soluble Nitrate fe ilizers with a negligible carbon footprint. Unlike other organic fe ilizers, the GreenSwitch® process goes one step fu her and produces Nitrogen, coming from animal manure in the form of Ammonium (NH4), in Nitrate form.

This solution has been specifically developed to increase protein quantity and quality in cereals. Nitrogen and Sulphur are key nourishing elements for cereals and their NUE is strongly influenced by their relative ratio. The suitable Nitrogen-Sulphur ratio of Nitrofol Liquid | 18 - 0 - 0 + 6(SO ) + SW boosts the protein formation in particular when applied in the last part of the growing season. The Ascophyllum nodosum extract acts as a biostimulant reducing and preventing stress effects on the crop and at the same time acts as a wetting agent ensuring a longer and more efficient nutrient uptake.

The chelating agent DTPA is the most resistant to photodegradation and ensures a rapid and complete absorption of iron through the plant with a visible effect of the treatment after a few days.
