CAPITAL PROJECT DELIVERY

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE APRIL 20, 2017 | NANAIMO, BC

Bringing the Island’s construction community together to collaborate, share perspectives, and develop potential solutions that support a triple bottom line approach for project delivery and capital asset management.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM Welcome to the Construction Council of Vancouver Island (CCVI) Capital Project Delivery Forum. I am pleased to see construction leaders from across the Island in attendance: public owners, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, architects, engineers, and buyers of construction services. We have a progressive agenda ahead of us with engaging speakers, a trade show, and a Future Focus workshop and ANTHONY plenary session to facilitate dialogue between you, as MINNITI, industry stakeholders. We also have networking breaks and CCVI CHAIR a post-Forum reception that are designed to help you connect to others in the industry; I urge you to make the most of them! One of the primary reasons for the Forum, and the Council, is to bring leaders from the construction community into one room to learn how to better design and build infrastructure together. We all share similar concerns and experiences, and we all want to improve the industry by making it more profitable, more resilient, and more adaptive to the change and opportunity that is upon us. Let’s build for the future together!

On behalf of the Construction Council of Vancouver Island, ACEC-BC, AIBC, and VICA, I would like to thank you for being here today. I would also like to thank our sponsors for making this event possible. Your participation in the Forum is one step in the right direction towards a healthier construction industry. Our collective voices will bring forth infrastructure delivery solutions and, in turn, contribute to the prosperity of Vancouver Island.

ABOUTTHE THECCVI CCVI ABOUT The post 2008 world of capital asset management, design, and construction is confronted with unprecedented challenge, opportunity and rapid change. These forces, driven by the convergence of demographics, economics, technology, and the environment, are some of the triggers for structural, organizational, process, and relationship changes. The Vancouver Island Construction Association informally consulted with Municipalities, Universities, School Districts, Health and other authorities (MUSH sector), member firms of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies British Columbia (ACEC-BC) and the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) about the notion of bringing construction community leaders together to explore opportunities to collaboratively address and enhance public capital project delivery outcomes. In 2014 the Construction Council of Vancouver Island (CCVI) was founded. Since then, we have been working to bring the public construction community on Vancouver Island together. Through collaborative forums, CCVI facilitates dialogue and shared perspectives, with the goal of developing potential solutions that support a triple bottom line approach for project delivery and capital asset management.

"The conversation between funders, designers, and trades was very interesting. Great to have all three perspectives put on the table."
