Textures (Top line : man made ; Bottom line : nature)

Texture on fashion accessory ( Tie: man-made ; Bag: nature)

I learnt what textures and patterns are and the difference between them. Textures can be felt and touched and patterns are a repetition of a motif in different manners. By using a gateway sheet I took out textures from nature and from man-made things which gave me a clear view of textures and then I drew 2D forms of the textures. Finally, I chose 5 textures from the mad made things and 5 from nature, and from those 5-5 we selected 1-1 each and drew it on fashion accessories. By doing this I learnt that how a texture or a pattern can be used in accessories and how many textures and patterns are there, in almost everything we use in our daily lives

After choosing my inspiration (A bottle with flowers) I traced out the picture. Keeping in mind the design principles, I traced out the shape, texture, details, etc. Then by those traces I broke it down into small parts and created different types of motifs by manipulating them, from which I selected 5 motifs and placed them in 5 different patterns. This would help me give a clearer view of patterns. And by colouring the patterns, I would understand the different kinds of mood.

10 head fashion figure (3)

I learnt how to draw a fashion figure (10 head figure) with proper measurements and guidelines. In the beginning, it was a bit tough but as we moved forward the understanding grew and I started finding it interesting and easy. Then I even learnt fleshing which means giving the stick figure some proper body shape. After practicing it 10 times more it became even easier and then I was able to draw some parts like the hands without measuring it with a ruler.

Motion picture 2

Motion picture 1

I learnt how to draw a 10 head figure in motion, keeping the proportions in mind. I learnt how the position of the every body part plays an important role while drawing a figure in motion as, if the measurements are not correct, the figure may look deformed.

Face drawing

I learnt how to make a man's face with proper proportions. We even saw a tutorial in class which made it easier for me to understand it. I learnt the exact positioning of all the facial features of a human being and practicing it made it much more easier for me to draw a face and now I can actually relate the measurements to my own face.

By doing this assignment I learnt a lot about different materials which can be used in art, to create a whole new texture or look. This helped me come out of my comfort zone and use differnt materials and explore as much as possible. It was as if I was doing whatever was coming into my mind with a specific inspiration which was very fun to do. The replication assignment also taught me how to incoporate different materails in a painting and make it look so interesting

By making drapes and textures , I learnt how to observe and feel the cloth properly, as, if I do not get the texture or feel of the cloth, I won't be able to get the proper drape or the fall for it on the croqui and the texture as well. And obviously, observation plays a very important role and if you observe proper most the work is done then and there. I even learnt how to use different mediums for different drapes and textures.

water paints

original design by David Downtown, collaboration with Chanel

By doing this assignment I learnt how an artist very carefully, keeping in mind the design makes or collaborates with a brand. David Downtown usually uses water paints for his illustrations. It was very interesting and fun replicating his work.

By doing this assignment I learnt how to use the pen tool properly and also learnt the gradience tool which helped me give my object a realistic look. By practicing so much, I became better at tracing and eventually I could get the perfect shape as well as the colour shade.

This assignment made me learn more tools like how to set a motif in a pattern form, scatter brush, pattern brush, clipping mask. I got the sense of aesthetic, colour as well as balance. Also, how to work with a theme.

In this assignment, I converted two of my hand drawn patterns into digital using pen tool, gradience and pattern forms. I even learnt how to make a seamless pattern using the clipping mask tool.

By rendering a flat sketch means to add colours and textures to it and give it a real look by using the different tools in photoshop.

By making such illustrations, flat sketches, rendering, etc. I've learnt so much more about differnt tools in illustrator and photoshop and how to use it and when to use it, the correct way of using it. By making so many illustrations, it helped me in making my line quality better and better. By doing this assignment i gained a better sense of combination and most importantly patience and observation power. If you don't observe properly then you cannot get the proper shape of the object and if you don't have the patience to do it then you will not get the details correct and you'll keep making mistakes. I even learnt that how the clothes are draped on a croqui with proper folds and creases. This assignment has made me learn a lot of new and interesting things.
