Eindhoven scarcely needs any introduction because it is famous as a city that offers more or less everything and anything people need, no matter what their age or lifestyle. This means everything and anything when it comes to comfortable living, education, shopping, entertainment, museums, sport and relaxation. If we were to mention a few highlights these would be the Van Abbemuseum, the Strijp-S development and the Dutch Design Week, the Parktheater, the Effenaar pop music venue and the Frits Philips Music Centre. Then there is the large shopping area with its famous department stores (such as De Bijenkorf) and

EASILY ACCESSIBLE

Eindhoven ligt heel gunstig in een centraal knooppunt van diverse rijkswegen. Via de A67 rij je ofwel naar Venlo en Duitsland, of naar België. De A2 brengt je zowel naar Maastricht als naar Den Bosch/Utrecht. De A58 verbindt Eindhoven via Tilburg, Breda met het westen.

Ook per spoor kom je snel op de plaats van bestemming. Er rijden vele streekbussen naar gemeenten in de omgeving van Eindhoven. De nieuwe woonwijk Grasrijk heeft via de supersnelle HOV-baan een uitstekende verbinding met centrum en Eindhoven Airport Kortom, Eindhoven verbindt je met de nabije en verre omgeving. ■

Eindhoven is ideally located at a key intersection of various motorways. Via the A67 you can drive either towards Venlo and on to Germany, or to Belgium. The A2 will take you to Maastricht and to Den Bosch/Utrecht. The A58 connects Eindhoven to the west of the country via Tilburg and Breda.

The rail connections are also excellent. There are also plenty of regional bus services to the nearby towns and villages. The new residential district of Grasrijk has an excellent connection to the centre and Eindhoven Airport via the high-speed High-Quality Public Transport Network [Hoogwaardig Openbaar Vervoer-netwerk] (HOV). In short, Eindhoven is well-connected to all destinations, whether close by or far away. ■

Sinds begin 2000 is Grasrijk volop in ontwikkeling. Aan de rand van deze wijk worden in het deelgebied Landhof (tussen McDonald’s en de Hovenring) 3 clusters met in totaal 98 woningen gerealiseerd. Het betreft gevarieerde, aantrekkelijke woningen voor jonge mensen en ook expats. Het plan is ontworpen met moderne architectuur en perfect gelegen nabij uitvalswegen en alle voorzieningen in Meerhoven. De woningclusters zijn landschappelijk gelegen in het groen dat fraai wordt aangelegd o.a. met wandelpaden, speelplekken en water. De woningen zijn gelegen rondom een

fraai ingerichte parkeerhof en richten de blik naar buiten. De afwerking van de woningen is goed te noemen, met wandclosets, inloopdouches en bij enkele typen ook een bad. De woningen zijn allen voorzien van een tuin, dan wel patio en enkele hebben een eigen parkeerplaats.

Grasrijk has been the focus of extensive development since 2000. On the periphery of this neighbourhood, 3 clusters with a total of 98 homes are being realised in the subarea of Grasrijk (between McDonald’s and the Hovenring). The homes in question are varied and attractive to both young people and expats.

VOF Zeshoven is developing terraced and end-of-terrace homes, semi-detached homes and patio homes in Grasrijk. The homes in question are owner-occupied homes with a capacity of between 389 and 600 m³ and a plot size of between 64 and 171m². ■

Aron Bogers, architect Inbo ‘Live your life’ is het visitekaartje van Meerhoven. Het is het eerste plan dat je straks ziet als je vanuit de stad aankomt en vormt het nieuwe adres van deze wijk. Het is een project waar de bijzondere kwaliteit het resultaat is van een intensieve en prettige samenwerking tussen gemeente, ontwikkelaar en architect. De woningen en de openbare ruimte zijn in samenhang met elkaar bedacht met een unieke woonkwaliteit als resultaat. Dat geldt zowel voor de uitvoering van de royale woningen als voor de inrichting van het buitengebied. Het project bestaat uit drie woningclusters die heel mooi ruimtelijk in het groen liggen. De woningen liggen met de rug naar elkaar en met het gezicht naar het park. Daardoor

It is a project of exceptional quality which is the result of an intensive and rewarding collaboration between the local authority, the developer and the architect. The homes and the public space have been devised as a connected whole and this has produced a unique level of residential quality. This applies to both the design of the spacious homes and the layout of the outside area. The project consists of three residential clusters which are beautifully located in a green area. The homes have their backs to each other and look out across the park. As a result, all the residents can optimally enjoy the attractive

In this neighbourhood the bar has been placed extremely high. All in all the residents will be getting real value for money. I hope that all the new residents thoroughly enjoy living in this new neighbourhood.” ■

Frans Hartman, bewoner Grasrijk “Wij wonen nu bijna drie jaar in Grasrijk en hebben het er erg naar onze zin. We zagen dit project op een woningbeurs en het sprak ons meteen aan. Het is hier dicht bij het centrum, maar toch heel rustig en groen. De woningen zijn betaalbaar en er zijn veel goede voorzieningen in de buurt. Denk aan de HOV-bus die je in 4 minuten naar hartje Eindhoven of het vliegveld brengt. Je zit ook zo op de snelweg naar zuid, noord, oost en west. Verder zijn er supermarkten en winkels voor de dagelijkse behoeften, en basisscholen en kinderopvang. Eigenlijk alles wat je wenst om relaxt te kunnen leven.

Er wonen hier veel jonge gezinnen en starters, die gemoedelijk en sociaal met elkaar omgaan. Mensen maken hier snel contact met elkaar, zeker als ze kinderen hebben. De sfeer in Grasrijk is leuk en dat zorgt voor veel woongenot. Voor ons is het een perfecte keuze geweest!” ■

Frans Hartman, Grasrijk resident “We have lived in Grasrijk for almost three years and love it here. We came across this project at a Homes Show and it appealed to us immediately. It is close to the centre but still very quiet and green. The homes are affordable and there are plenty of excellent facilities close by. These include the high-speed bus link which transports you to the centre of Eindhoven or to the airport in just four minutes. In addition to that we are very close to the motorways to the south, north, east and west. You can get all your daily shopping at the supermarkets and other shops and there are primary schools and day-care centres as well.

A LIVELY NEIGHBOURHOOD

Ruben Trieling, voorzitter bewonersvereniging Grasrijk “Toen mijn vrouw en ik veertien jaar geleden op zoek waren naar een ruime woning in een kindvriendelijke wijk, vonden we deze al snel in Grasrijk. Met name de groene omgeving, een basisschool in de buurt en een goede fietsen busverbinding naar het centrum spraken ons aan. Ook de aantrekkelijke prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding van de woningen was een pluspunt. Verder vind je hier alles in de buurt waar je behoefte aanhebt: goede scholen, winkels, perfect openbaar vervoer en de wijk is relatief heel groen. Fijn ook voor kinderen om hier op te groeien. De woningen en bewoners in Grasrijk zijn heel divers. Je vindt hier starterswoningen, villa’s en alles wat daartussen zit.

Zo’n gemêleerde populatie en gevarieerde architectuur geven een levendige sfeer in de wijk. Onze bewonersvereniging Grasrijk stimuleert activiteiten en is het aanspreekpunt voor bewoners. We hebben regelmatig contact met de gemeente, politie en andere instanties over onderwerpen als parkeren, verkeer, het winkelcentrum en jeugd- en jongerenwerk. Bijzonder is dat we een speciaal Engelstalig platform voor expats hebben opgericht. Doordat Grasrijk nabij Brainport ligt, waar de TU/e, ASML en Philips zich bevinden, komen hier steeds meer expats wonen. Via het platform worden ze op de hoogte gehouden van relevant nieuws en hebben ze onderling contact.” ■

Ruben Trieling, chair of the Grasrijk residents’ association “When my wife and I started looking for a spacious home in a child-friendly neighbourhood, fourteen years ago, we quickly found one in Grasrijk. We were particularly attracted by the green surroundings, a primary school close by and excellent bicycle and bus connections to the city centre. The excellent value for money of the homes was another box ticked. The neighbourhood basically has everything you need - good schools, shops, excellent public transport - and all this in relatively green surroundings. It is a great place for children to grow up in. The homes and residents in Grasrijk are very diverse. There are starter homes, villas and everything in between. Such a mixed population and varied architecture give

the neighbourhood a lively feel. Our Grasrijk residents’ association encourages us all to join in activities and it is the point of contact for residents. We regularly meet with the local authority, the police and other bodies to discuss issues such as parking, traffic, the shopping centre and young people and youth work. Another unique feature is that a special English language platform has been set up for expats. The fact that Grasrijk is close to Brainport, which is where Eindhoven University of Technology, ASML and Philips are located means the neighbourhood is the home to an increasing number of expats. The platform is used to update them on relevant news and it is also a great way for them to get in touch with each other.” ■
