LONDON Tobacco ALLIANCE
The London Tobacco Alliance – a partnership created to accelerate efforts to eliminate smoking in London – has published a first-of-its-kind positions statement in response to vaping. The announcement calls for Local Authorities and health professionals to promote and offer nicotine vapes as an effective quitting tool for adult smokers, alongside accurate information on the benefits. With the latest evidence, the LTA believes that with support and licensed stop smoking aids, e-cigarettes play a significant role in reducing tobacco harm.
NHS Medical Director for London, Chris Streather said: “This position statement seeks to address misconceptions amongst professionals working with London’s smokers.”

A potential ban on all tobacco and vape products for anyone born after 2007 in Malaysia has sparked controversy amongst officials and advocates. Government backbenchers said: “18-year-olds can decide the fate, future and the government of this country, but you don’t feel they are responsible enough to decide if they want to smoke.” Additionally, six health and vape groups issued a joint statement in disagreement of the potential removal of the THR products. However, the Malaysian Medical Association has called on the PM to re-list nicotine under the Poisons Act.
