Following the recent finale of the latest installment of Love Island, one of the contestants has emerged detailing the vaping habits of the ‘islanders’. Speaking on Instagram, ex-contestant Ellie Spence explained how the group of love hopefuls would get around the smoking ban ITV implemented for the series in 2018. Posting on her story, she said: “Literally everyone smoked or vaped…so we would all fight to go out at like dinner time and lunchtime. “You could really only go in those times, though you would have to ask and stand by the door.”

Music mogul Simon Cowell has given up his habit of smoking 40 cigarettes a day in favour of vaping, after suffering a recent bout of laryngitis. After losing his voice and being unable to smoke, the record executive said: “If I have done four days without a cigarette, I can do a week.” He has finally quit for good after decades of trying, pledging to live a healthier lifestyle by focusing on his fitness and spending more time with his wife and son.

The Panamanian Tobacco Harm Reduction Association recently proposed an amendment to the smoking ban on Panama beaches, encouraging regulated vaping products as an alternative for 170,000 smokers. Michael Landl of the World Vapers’ Alliance said: “Panama should follow the example of countries which have successfully reduced smoking rates by embracing tobacco harm reduction…instead of copying the failure of Argentina and Mexico.” Despite this, the Technical Secretariat of Economic Affairs rejected the proposal in lieu of the WHO Framework Convention for Tobacco Control rejecting e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool last year.
