It’s curious to think that vaping is so controversial…especially when you consider that the general public is so ready to accept harm reduction in other areas.
As this post from non-profit the Vaping Advocacy and Education Project points out, most of support the idea of safety measures like seat belts and bike helmets.
However, what many might not realise is that, when it comes to actually reducing harms, vaping has ‘both of them beat’.
According to the VAEP graphic, using a seatbelt or bike helmet can offset potential risks by 50 percent or 61 percent respectively, while vaping is widely understood to be 95 percent less harmful than smoking.
The tweet also included a link to a VAEP YouTube video explaining ‘why vaping is harm reduction for current smokers’.
